Gov. Bobby Jindal (R, LA) gives up on waiting for BP/WH.

(Via Hot Air Headlines) Given that the leak hasn’t been plugged yet, and given that the Gov. Jindal has a state to look after, this isn’t surprising.

Eight weeks into the oil spill disaster in the Gulf of the Mexico, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal has told the National Guard that there’s no time left to wait for BP, so they’re taking matters into their own hands.

In Fort Jackson, La., Jindal has ordered the Guard to start building barrier walls right in the middle of the ocean. The barriers, built nine miles off shore, are intended to keep the oil from reaching the coast by filling the gaps between barrier islands.

Which leads to the next question: what has the White House been doing in place of getting BP to stay on top of things?

Beats me.

    …namely, the Obamoratorium.

I personally suggest closing every last oil and gas pipeline which runs out of Louisiana for “inspections” until the Obamoratorium is lifted. If Obama is so determined to get us off fossil fuels, then Jindal ought to give the dumbasses who voted for this man a taste of what that’s like.

somewhere to keep something out. Now if our buds in the border states would put up a fence/wall/finish line whatever, then maybe another wave would be kept at bay.

    Yeah Jindal!

  • Doc Holliday

this reminds me of Arizona somehow. Go Jindal!

  • redtillimdead

When HUGE Obama supporter and LIBERAL DEMOCRAT Sen. Mary Landrieu tells him he is wrong and that he will KILL our economy, he STILL refuses to listen! The oil industry makes up 16% of LA’s economy, and Obama is destroying it with the stroke of a pen. After Daniels, I had been looking for a strong alternative to Obama in 2012. Jindal is the best candidate to point out Obama’s failure, however, I’d hate to lose him here.

Taking sand from point A to point B.
It could have been done week three,
But the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT said we will do and enviromental impact study first.

    Question? Wich is worse?
Moving sand around versus oil on the beach.

Its about time someone took the bull by the horns. Go Jindal!

I’m curious as to the damage that has been done to the shore at this time. The leak has been going for a long time. Was this the appropriate time for Jindal to take matters into his own hands? Or did he wait too long? Thanks.

  • blooch

it’s time to kick some sand in the 90 pound weakling’s face.

Meanwhile, back at the Yeswe Cantina with the beer-pongers….

  • gekster

As far as i know, the hold up waas from the engineers, waiting for the federal beuracracy to do an enviromentul study first.
He was saying he was going to do this.
I guess he said what he ment.
And I think this is a no brainer.

  • gekster

But I here Oblamo ate some shrimp from (?) there.
Or maybe it was in Alabama.
I know it was between rounds of golf.

And it is racist for Jindal to try to keep the oil out. The Louisiana Governor is totally ruining our post-racial society. Utopia is so freakin close. And his concern for his state is so damn selfish. Erg. I just wish Obama could dictate fulfillment. Let’s give him more power.

Gov Jindal is exhibiting the American spirit at it’s best. Perhaps Gov Barbour will be next. I have little hope for Gov Christ actually doing something courageous or even smart. All he cares about is votes.

using supertankers to suck all the oil up? The Saudi’s did it in 1993…….

“The suck-and-salvage technique was developed in desperation across the Arabian Gulf following a spill of mammoth proportions ? 700 million gallons ? that has until now gone unreported, as Saudi Arabia is a closed society, and its oil company, Saudi Aramco, remains owned by the House of Saud. But in 1993 and into ’94, with four leaking tankers and two gushing wells, the royal family had an environmental disaster nearly sixty-five times the size of Exxon Valdez on its hands, and it desperately needed a solution.

Pozzi, an American engineer then in charge of Saudi Aramco’s east-west pipeline in the technical support and maintenance services division, was part of a team given cart blanche to control the blowout. ”

    Maybe this is why…..

Jan. 19 (Bloomberg) — Morgan Stanley hired a supertanker to store crude oil in the Gulf of Mexico, joining Citigroup Inc. and Royal Dutch Shell Plc in trying to profit from higher prices later in the year, two shipbrokers said.

I know this story is from Jan 09. Surely the smart ones would do it again this year if it worked then…..

…to do so would have been complicated. BP is so risk-averse now that they’re not going to pay anything without the feds telling them so. And Louisiana is running a big deficit thanks to the economy going down the tube in the first place; we don’t have the money to pay for this on our end.

The damage to the shore is still localized – but where it’s hit it’s very, very bad. Oil getting into those marshlands is just a nightmare. Very difficult to remediate.

  • banzaibob

Cut off the oil and gas to the states that supported this moron. Add Florida and some of the other sqemish states till they start experiencing $6 to $8 a gallon gas.

  • cabanon

This will go along way to putting him on the ballot in 2012 showing him on the National stage.

  • redtillimdead

Our marshes are devastated. Marshes are much harder to clean up than beaches and suffer much worse. He was waiting for Obama, as that is Obama’s job, not Jindal’s. Where Jindal ordered the barrier built is federal water, which is something Obama is in charge of, not Jindal. But Jindal did what he had to do.

  • cactusjack

He obviously has no one – no one – on his WH staff who will tell him, or who understands…we’re talking Econ 101 here… that 100,000 layoffs will not just cripple LA, they will within 60 days, hit the national unemployment number, thus directly impacting Dear Leader’s reelectiion chances. It is a plain no-risk wager, if the US double dips & continues on in recession this year, and O’s moratorium sure will push it hard that way, he is a one term President. Either he is Carter-esque lost in Leftism with no idea time is running out on him, or as has been posted in RS, he is some kind of Manchurian Candidate racing against the clock to complete the destruction.

I get all warm and fuzzy when STATES begin to lead the way. Things may be starting to shape up sooner than we think.

It is simply the difference between incompetence and leadership.

  • Carol Tarasewicz

It’s time for Jindal to protect LA, he can’t afford to let oil in. At the rate he’s going, I dont think Obama knows if this is federal land or not. I’m sure there will be an attorney to investigate at a later date.

    The Governor’s name is Crist.

PLEASE sign this official Louisiana petition to shorten the drilling moratorium in the Gulf of Mexico. http://www.crt.state.la.us/GEST/Petition.aspx
Off-shore oil drilling account for 16% of Louisiana’s economy. With the stroke of a pen, Obama is wiping out 150,000 Louisiana jobs. These companies will not wait 6 months to keep drilling. They are already moving to Africa and South America. After the oil spill, Louisiana can NOT afford Obama’s moratorium. You do NOT have to be a LA citizen to sign the petition! Please get the word out about it through e-mail, Facebook, and Twitter.

His purpose is to turn us into Cuba and the more people out of work and the more who’ve lost their pensions on the down stock marker and the more people lose their medical access, the more control and tyranny little o and the Left have.

    Fast forward a few years:

Soros becomes Brazil’s Petrobas biggest shareholder.

Obama sends 2 Billion to Petrobas for offshore drilling.

    BP rig blows up.

Obama announces moratorium on US drilling.

Years later we find out Obama was involved in Soros’ shareholder group.

    Conspiracy Theory?

Hardly. With this cold, calculating Commie, this is most likely the reality. I read that Brazil was having a hard time finding rigs for their new found oil reserves.

Voil?! Found 40+ rigs in no time.

  • jprice28

Did anyone else catch Obama touting his approval–several weeks later–of the construction of new barrier islands in his address last night?

It’s like he thinks HE did something ingenious and extraordinary. It wasn’t even his idea. On top of that, his administration took 2 or 3 weeks to even approve Jindal’s request!

There is one aspect to all of this that IS extraordinary: Obama’s narcissism.

Once again practical application of responsibility proves that the federal government should not be a big conglomerate of nothingness.

When we once again as a nation pray to to God and WE THE PEOPLE demand a federal government as was instituted by our Constitution, expect personal responsiblity and states rights, then our nation will begin to heal.

Until then I am sure there will be those that will demand boycott’s of LA just as they are demanding boycotts on AZ.
