Given that the Telegraph report came out yesterday afternoon, it’s amazing that they’ve gone to the trouble of denying it before the start of business hours today. And to Fox, no less.
The White House Monday dismissed reports that Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel plans to leave his post after becoming frustrated with the Obama administration as “ludicrous.”
[snip]
In response to the report, a senior White House official told Fox News the “ludicrous” story was “not worth looking into.”
Well, it’s not really amazing. The Telegraph article was fairly compelling – I was planning to write about it anyway – in that it claimed that the Chief of Staff was burning out, unhappy with the effect DC was having on his kids, and interested in running for Mayor of Chicago. All three of these are certainly believable; and two years seems to be about the normal amount of time for somebody to hold this position anyway. Add to all of this the minor detail that Rahm Emanuel is a horrible Chief of Staff (something that even the Telegraph doesn’t really want to explicitly admit, but which is made fairly clear in that article) and there’s no non-political reason to call the story ‘ludicrous.’
Politically speaking, of course, it would look very, very bad for the White House if it got out that the man who designed the Democrats’ 2006/2008 Congressional strategy was planning to announce his resignation just after that Congressional strategy crashes, burns, ignites, explodes, and seeps toxic polysyllabic chemicals into the groundwater this November. Not that a strategy of blustering denial will do anything except kick the can down the road for another four months, but they’ll worry about that later.

Understand this and understand it well: The Left – especially the far left power freaks – doesn’t do anything without a plan and plans within plans.
He’s leaving to do something else and whatever it is will probably be behind the scenes and much more dangerous to freedom……. Unless he’s that much of a prima-donna egotistical putz and wants his very own slot in the sun as some sort of wanna-be mini-me clone of evil.
Wow…. I seem a tad bitter and somewhat cynical.
White House denial seems just a bit frantic

Anyway, if he really cared about his children, he wouldn’t be who/what he is. Like any coward, he is using his kids for cover.

Heh. Rahm as hizzonner? I don't think that'd work out too well...
acat (Diary) Monday, June 21st at 9:29AM EDT (link)Not that he’s not a good Chicago Dem, but given the debt Illinois has built up by papering over the budget gap with bonds and borrowing, Chicago is going to be fighting every other Illinois muni for tax dollars – and having an {rectum} like Rahmbo in charge will not get the downstate corn-field state reps to pay up.

Although...
vettepilot (Diary) Monday, June 21st at 10:50AM EDT (link)I’d love to see the primaries for that contest: Rahmbo vs. Da Mayr… Talk about popcorn material! It would almost certainly have to be shown on a delay for explicit language.
Although it could be a short-lived contest, debating Rahmbo could just be the event that puts Hizzoner Daley over the edge and finally pops those blood vessels in his forehead.
In all seriousness, I have a hard time seeing Rahmbo running for Mayor. If he did, it would be for nothing more than to sate his enormous ego, since Chicago is pretty much already a bastion of liberalism. Let’s see, unconstitutionally strict gun laws? Check. Outrageously high taxes? Check. Union stranglehold on every good and service transaction? Check and check (just look at how many trade shows are fleeing McCormick Place, you can’t plug something into an electrical outlet there without paying a union electrician). Under-performing school system? Got that too! So really, there’s not much left to destroy…
Been there, done that, with the trade show electrical outlets
RedBeard Monday, June 21st at 11:03AM EDT (link)It’s really quite insane. The only fun part is trying to outmaneuver the union enforcers on the show floor. We had them running in circles one year, blaming one another for allowing various infractions, while we sat back and watched the show.
As for what else the city administration could do to wreck the place, I can only assume they’re working on a way to tax the bejeebers out of the stars on the Adler’s ceiling, or to force Sue to start paying union dues.

All things electrical were “call the building”. Even the highly critical corporate network;.

Next time, go ahead and call "the building"
RedBeard Monday, June 21st at 2:38PM EDT (link)Tell them that the last guy from “the building” must not have tightened the macaddress screws properly, causing your token ring to fall out of the cloud attached to your virtual machine and get lost in the ethernet, so it’s up to “the building” to install a replacement. Right now.

Emanuel will leave, and soon.
indyjohn Monday, June 21st at 12:07PM EDT (link)He does not want any part of the blame when the Dems suffer losses similar to those in the ’94 election. He knows that he will be the designated fall guy and get canned after the election anyway. The White House, on the other hand, desperately wants him to stay, so that it will have a fall guy. His exit will only occur after each side is satisfied, as the result of a negotiated settlement, that the other is not going to stab it in the back. No tell-all book from Rahm until Barack is out of office. And no investigations of Rahm as long as Holder controls Justice. Think of it as a Mexican stand-off.
The question now is, who wants to be in charge of putting the pieces back together when the Obama Machine falls apart?
But what is liberty without wisdom, and without virtue? It is the greatest of all possible evils; for it is folly, vice, and madness, without tuition or restraint.

clintonformccain Monday, June 21st at 1:34PM EDT (link)Rahm was a fundraiser/political advisor in the Clinton White House. Kind of a Chicago thug whipping Congress. Whatever is going on with him has nothing to do with Secretary Clinton.
BTW, Clinton had a great dead-pan press conference answers last week. In an interview for Norweigian media on the topic of civil unresst in Kyrgyzstan, she was asked about reports of her and Joe Biden changing jobs. She replied:
“Let’s stick to Kyrgyzstan…..”
