In 1919, Lenin legalized prostitution, homosexuality, incest, and abortion and banned church marriage, women taking their husband’s last names in marriage, and the “hearth family.”
Nurseries and daycares were the substitutes offered for children, and the USSR did need women in the workforce, as it had lost nearly 2,000,000 men in WW I. But the depredations of the civil war between the Whites and Reds for a decade really aggravated the horrific effects of the totally “transformed” (recognize that word?) society communism had offered.
Whole villages and towns were abandoned or disappeared. By the late ’20s, the effects of family disintegration and women’s liberation produced child mobs in Mongolia and along the border with China (also depicted in the novel, Dr. Zhivago). Cannibalism was reported. Along with the enforced collectivation of farms in the Ukraine in the ’30s (starving 10s of millions), the USSR experienced serious de-population, let alone mass famine and starvation.
\In 1936, Trotsky suggested the USSR change tactics, and Stalin re-instituted prohibitions on prostitution, homosexuality, incest, and abortion and re-emphasized traditional marriage (still without churches). The state then paid couples to stay together, increased child allowances with every infant produced, and returned to the “hearth marriage” of pre-revolutionary days.
I doubt they recognized the irony either. At least, Obamanation’s changes in Afghanistan generals only involves a “few” hundred of US service people at risk one way or the other and not the extermination of maybe 100,000,000 people over 70 years, which the commies may have produced, because when the leftists really get to apply their “vision,” extermination knows no bounds.
