Malice/Stupidity Watch: Obamaspill edition.

This article by Dick Morris on Alabaman problems with regard to Obamaspill is like Problems With Big Government 120:

According to state disaster relief officials, Alabama conceived a plan — early on — to erect huge booms offshore to shield the approximately 200 miles of the state’s coastline from oil. Rather than install the relatively light and shallow booms in use elsewhere, the state (with assistance from the Coast Guard) canvassed the world and located enough huge, heavy booms — some weighing tons and seven meters high — to guard their coast.

But … no sooner were the booms in place than the Coast Guard, perhaps under pressure from the public comments of James Carville, uprooted them and moved them to guard the Louisiana coastline instead.

Or possibly it’s a 090 remedial course.  Because it only gets worse from there. The basic gist of the story is that there are a lot of federal agencies out there with opinions on the spill, they all have to be taken completely seriously – even when they shouldn’t be – and the administration is doing nothing to direct the cleanup efforts.  It’s bad enough that people are openly wondering whether this is some sort of plan; after all, it’d be infinitely better that there be some sort of nefarious scheme on the administration’s part than it be simply that the White House doesn’t have a clue on how to handle a problem.  I recognize the power of such a belief, and I wish that I could hold it myself.  Unfortunately, it’s not a true belief: the Obama administration consists of a bunch of chowderheads who can’t actually do anything on their own, and that’s all there is to it.

Sorry.

I was just asking ColdWarrioer in the truck if there was some (gerneric) red state energy that was causing the gulf states to be put on ignore. We agreed there was some of that. Although Moe says (as I believe) that it’s not active and organized, things just sort of seem to ‘incline’ that way. N’Awleans is much bluer than Alabama after all and they have the blue ‘must listen’ voices like Carville’s.

OK, so the ‘conspiracy’ does not have a letterhead. But as Goldberg says about the media – it’s not even conscious, it’s just the ‘norm.al’ normal.

Ha. Love it! I could make some jokes about ClintonSpill, but this is a family friendly blog…

Thanks Moe. First good chuckle of the evening!

Expecting something different from this crowd?

    Competency maybe?

Everything this “Cool” crowd of kids elected has done is either payback in some form or let another department/agency take care of it.

There have to be people at high levels in this administration who know that everything Obama is doing is 180 degrees out of sync with what would work. He’s wrong on the economy, foreign affairs, energy, spending, taxes, border security, and other issues too numerous to mention.

This is beyond a difference of philosophy or a difference of opinion. This is a difference of objective. We have to at least consider that, even if not maliciously, Obama is intentionally doing what he can to reduce the power, stature, and influence of the United States both here and abroad. He seems to have decided that if we are pathetically weak economically, we won’t be able to succeed at anything else. And about that, he’s right. I don’t know why he doesn’t want us to remain a world leader, but he has himself said as much.

If President Obama isn’t doing what he’s doing on purpose, he’s the unluckiest soul ever to have walked this Earth, because every single thing he does makes things worse, not better.

For a specific purpose and for a specific reason. No human being or group of human beings is this unlucky by sheer accident.

If it was stupid, they would have gotten something right just by desiring to help and letting somebody figure something out that works.

Incompetence won’t cover it either. They keep *doing* things and statistically an incompetent would ‘luck out’ some percentage of the time. But Obama and his cohorts have not ‘lucked out’ even once since Jan 2009.

It can’t all be due to lack of luck. Neither can it be coincidence. Incompetence doesn’t cover it. There are too many loose ends to claim it is mere incompetence.

The only explanation that makes sense is that it is by design.

Personally, I think O is as shrewd as they come. He’ll let people believe he is incompetent if it means that he can accomplish and achieve his own goals.

“If [Bambi was] merely stupid, then the laws of probability would have dictated that at least some of [his] decisions would have served the country’s interest” ….Sen. Joseph McCarthy (paraphrased)

I am able to go over to the dark side from time-to-time and entertain thoughts of this president planning a coup, rather than trusting the voters not to throw him out.* But watching his management of the gulf oil spill has made me feel much safer these days. It would appear that Bambi couldn’t manage a two car funeral, much less a military takover of the entire country.

Or he could be engineering total disaster from the oval for political gain, which again sounds ill concieved and bound for administrative failure.

Still, one can’t help but wonder, how do you explain this degree of ineptitude? His supporters keep reminding us about his enormous I.Q. Maybe he really does have a dark, sinister plan.

This gets a bit knotty, doesn’t it?

*Seriously, I doubt this or any other president could employ the pentagon to effect a coup. Declaration of martial law is not a direct route to absolute power.

“president could employ the pentagon to effect a coup.”

When you enter the military, you swear an oath to uphold the Constitution, not to support the President (as I remember it). My guess is that most Generals today understand the Constitution as well as most Supreme Court Justices. His unlawful orders would be seen as just as unlawful as those of anybody else. Any orders to suspend or cancel elections would be ignored, and the Congress, even full of Democrats, would act immediately to impeach.

Note that he floated that trial balloon about pardoning all the undocumented Democrats if Congress didn’t act. We’ll see if he thinks he can get away with it, but it’s sort of disappeared from the radar.

I wish I were more sure of that assertion about the fealty of congressional Democrats.

It’s a mantra, but unfortunately, I’m afraid there is a method to the madness and it ain’t pro-American.
