QotD, Maureen Dowd edition.

Yes, Maureen Dowd.

We may not have a “nation of cowards” on race, as Attorney General Eric Holder contended, but we may have a West Wing of cowards on race.

Although I’m somewhere between Holder and Dowd on this one: we have a national political party of cowards on race, and it’s the Democratic one.  As we’ve just had Andrew Breitbart graphically, if perhaps not quite deliberately, demonstrate.

The rest of the article is largely uninteresting (it’s a discussion of the way that the White House thoroughly messed up their reaction to the Shirley Sherrod situation), with two exceptions: first, for the complaint from a white Democrat that the White House is not culturally black enough.  While I will readily agree that Barack Obama is about as culturally African-American as I am*, there’s something subtly off-putting at hearing this from Maureen Dowd.  I can almost see her nose wrinkling in disdain at the oh-so-awful necessity… but perhaps I am allowing my generally low opinion of the self-designated liberal elite to cloud my thinking.  Perhaps.

The other exception is at the end, where Dowd demonstrates an awesome tin ear by suggesting that Shirley Sherrod become “Director of Black Outreach” for the White House.   Yes.  That will work out so well for this administration.

*Actually, he’s less so.  His formative American years were raised mostly in middle-class white suburbia, and of course starting with Harvard he’s spent his life comfortably cocooned in liberal elitist privilege.  I imagine that he finds American AA culture only marginally less of the Other than he does working class white culture.  I referred to him as the Fortunate Son for a reason

    The answer is No.

The reason is that it is not in the Democrat Party’s interest to bring people together. As long as black Americans continue to vote 90%+ in a bloc for the other party it will always be in Democrat’s interest to sell black victimhood to the masses. So they will always put their cynical pursuit of power ahead of what is in the country’s best interest.

When was the last time the NAACP did anything that could even remotely be considered outreach? Not going to happen.

BTW, the last person I need to be lectured to about race relations is an Upper West Side Manhattan elitist.

(My intent *hehe* is not to make a pejorative characterization, as I care about results, not intent.)

It turned out that the periphial issues were so much more important than Shirley Sherrod, including

      • The Obama Dept of Vetting Rears Its Head Again
      • The Farm Subsidies, and their alleged “improper allocation” in the Pigford case. The validity of the farm subsidies themselves? **Crickets Chirping**
      • Shirley Sherrod explicitly acknowledging her conversion to class warfare in front of the NAADP (National Association for the Advancement of Democratic People) (but how she sides the poor with a $13 million settlement in her bank account is beyond me)
      • The glee of the NAADP crowd as it hears Sherrod set up her story in anti-white terms

But most of all, I think this will hasten the passage of the Race Industry, as most of America wants to get to beyond race to the color-blind society Martin Luther King envisioned.

…gets a positive response from black Americans.

“Runaway Slave – The Documentary, with Pastor C.L. Bryant. An honest discussion about black conservatives in America. “Run away from the slavery of tyranny towards the blessings of liberty!” The film is now in production and is a non-profit project.”

Seems that the WH has forgotten what Martin Luther King Jr said…its not about color but character…….oops, sorry, they couldn’t possibly have taken that very seriously, since there is very little character in the WH……except of course for the cartoon type……

We will know the day has come when Obama is no longer of any use to his handlers when they “realize” he was “never actually Black to begin with,” or some contextual equivalent. And it will happen. It will be slowly woven into the national consciousness, first with an ironic laugh but eventually with contempt, as though he were somehow forced upon them. This administration is the first utterly disastrous American Presidency — not even Carter can lay claim to so much root-level damage — and they will eventually throw him beneath the bus out of necessity. But since Racial Inequity is now completely woven within their false narrative of American life, they will be compelled to note Obama’s inability to qualify as a “truly” Black man, so that that card might conceivably be played again in the future.

I don’t know whether this “Runaway Slave” documentary will get a positive response from Black Americans, but the preview clip gets a rousing “Wow! Yes!” from me.

and it will take longer with little o because the leftist ruling class thrives on cheering on its non-racist claim to superiority.

The truth is the left has ruined the black family, denigrated all black women into ho’s by avid support of rap and pornography, and perpetuated the drug culture in every inner city, where it all builds most of its Planned Parenthood abortiontoriums.

Eventually, blacks will realize–as they are now well on board for charter schools–the left does nothing but use them, and that subsituting the Dem. Party for the plantation (15% adult unemployment; 30% youth unemployment, 73% illegitimacy, 28% incarceration rate for males under 30) of the 21st C. is not a good deal.

Main Stream Media have won another victory. They have managed to convince even Red State readers that the story is about Ms.Sherrod and her mis-treatment by Brietbarrt, Fox News, the Obama administration and the NAACP.

Brietbart’s story was about the racist reaction of the NAACP deligates to Ms. Sherrod’s opening remarks. It as a counterpoint to tha NAACP’s statement that the Tea Party people should disown the racists in theTea Party. As the NAACP and the “useful idiots” have been unable to establish any credible evidence of racist behavior amongTea Party people, this was Liberalism at its worst.

Yet, they are getting away with it. The story is about Ms.Sherrod, Mr.Breitbart and FoxNews not about the explici tracism demonstated in that first clip by the NAACP delegates.

This White House is about the stupidest bunch of screw ups I’ve ever seen. I’ve even been in the military too! (If you’ve been, you know)

Their idea of race relations lays somewhere between get back at whitey and rampant victimology. They are clearly confused with history incorrectly quoted and stupidity. It’s for sure that they don’t have any connection with reality.

Shirley Sherrod is a well paid very minimally qualified employee. This “story” of hers is about but one incident in her handling the problems of a citizen that pays her bills. She had an epiphany about the citizen but what about the other “white” citizens she has reacted to with her thoroughly racial biased experience. On this basis should she be fired and rehired? How about you? What does it feel like to view the video clip and learn that you are the thought of being necessarily assisted by “one of their own kind.”

The next point is that there is a division between rich and poor. There sure is! Shirley and hubby & friends shared in a $13Mil settlement civil suit against her employer, us, the US Govt. Shirley is a hypocrite. DUH!

The video also show’s us a room full of NAACP attendees agreeing with this racial crap. I’m hopeful that African Americans (the least offensive term I could think of) would see that this race baiting is at their expense. We have got to be united in ridding this scourge from our society.

So Holder wants the conversation because we are cowards. His big mistake. He won’t like what he’s going to hear!

Ms. Sherrod joined the SNCC (Student Non-violent Coordinating Committee) in 1965. The same year its leadership passed from John Lewis to Stokley Carmichael. From there she the NAACP and other “Black” organizations. The two non-profit orgs. she worked for before sueing her way into the USDA, are both connected to the communist and other workers parties. Most of her writings and speakings consist of Marxist advocacy and other racially dominated sentiments. Most of which include a strong victim mentality resentment of white people. Every aspect of this woman’s life is centered around racial politics and her perceived injustice and inequality in America. That is the very definition of racism. This woman is the face of the Obama agenda. She has used the race card to further herself for seemingly all of her adult life. She was/is not an innocent victim in some vicious right-wing smear campaign. Rather , I believe she was a willing accomplice in an orchestrated, underhanded Left-wing smear campaign, designed to be the catalyst for the silencing of the voice of opposition. Has anybody even asked how and why Breitbart came across a partial video of her, that looked like a smoking gun , at just the right time to counter an irrational attack by the NAACP? Don’t drink the kool=aide this late in the game people. Maybe do a little digging .

there isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t hear the term “racist” used many times, therefore we must all be racists (at least according to the MSM). Maureen Dowd proves she’s a racist if only because she opines that Obummer isn’t black enough. The president should be color blind as MLK dreamed of, but he’s proven to be far from that (just one of many campaign promises that proved to be rhetorical lies).

All this conversation about racism is a product of the left, grasping at their last straw because they know they are losing the debate as we head into November. They have no factual defense of the damage already done so they cry out “racist”. Much like the last ditch accusations against Nikki Haley in SC that she slept around. Politics is such a dirty contact sport.

  • doncorleone

In her speech ” recanting” her racist ways, she mentioned the perceived notion that the white farmer felt superior to her. That’s a well-worn tactic used by the baiting, race merchants, sharpton and jackson. Also, when I’m going to the bank to ask for a loan (never asked for govt. assistance, so I wouldn’t know), but if I had to, I wouldn’t be going into either of those situations with an egoiste attitude. The n.a.a.c.p. has known about this woman’s background for decades, and owns the rights to this speech. This is a set-up to the nth degree. Holder says we’re cowards when it comes to race. He’s not a coward when it comes to taking away our freedoms. He was deputized by castro to facilitate the elian gonzalez abduction. He has no qualms about his disdain for this country and our Constitution. This administration, it’s a.g., the f.c.c., are going after it’s critics, detractors in the last place it doesn’t totally control, news and information gathering and dissemination.
