FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

Meet Morgan Philpot (R CAND, UT-02).

Morgan is running in Utah’s Second District, which is known primarily for being the only district in Utah whose Democratic incumbent has managed to avoid suffering from his national party’s reputation.  Morgan would dearly enjoy correcting that, and he spoke with RedState today:

Morgan’s site is here.

But I have several friends in Matheson’s district. I will be absolutely amazed if Philpot does not win. From what I hear he is a family man who is very strong in the Mormon church. His area is is extremely strong on 2nd amendment issues, the right to life, and religion.

    Matheson doesn’t stand a chance!

Matheson mormon? If not, Philpot will do very well.

But I still don’t think he has a chance. Remember, Harry Reid is Mormon too, but he isn’t much liked in Utah. Plus, Philpot will probably get funding from Eagle PAC to help his campaign. Eagle PAC was formed by my former congressman Chris Cannon to help local Mormons support conservative candidates. Also his brother, Joe Cannon, is the editor of the Deseret News. I expect there to be a ton of local support for Philpot.

After he easily defeated that nut in the primary, I thought Matheson was stronger than I did before. Glad to see reinforcements.

I believe he went to Molalla High School maybe, we sort of new each other because we were the only Morgans around that weren’t girls, and I think we went to basketball camps together.

Looked on his bio and he grew up at least some in Oregon. He was always a nice guy.

Anyway, best of luck to him, it would be a personal sort of good sign to me to see a guy I know isn’t a to-the-core sleazeball get elected somewhere. Pretty cool.

and one of Nancy’s lapdogs. Matheson’s going to fall back on his “no” votes for obamacare and cap & tax and try to distance himself from DC as much as possible which is going to be difficult with his 93% with party voting record.

never forget the following until a Republican President and Congress came along someday however long it takes: there is no such thing as a Blue Dog Democrat, a conservative Democrat, a pro-life Democrat, anymore. No more. They are all liberal Democrats now and should be dealt with as such. Forevermore. It is not we who decided this, it is they who taught us this with the HCR vote, and we are fools if we forget it. They are all liberal Democrats now.
