Agreed, Gibbs: Obama is not Bush.

As you may recall, White House press flack Robert Gibbs earlier this week announced his frustration with his party’s fringe Democrats who are unaccountably upset that they trade money and effort for… well, Gibbs’s frustration and contempt. It was fascinating to watch – for that matter, so was the latest extended whine from Alan ‘counting-the-days-until-his-permanent-MSNBC-gig’ Grayson on the subject* – but my sense of honor requires me to make an admission. When Gibbs said:

“I hear these people saying he’s like George Bush. Those people ought to be drug tested,” Gibbs said. “I mean, it’s crazy.”

…I am forced to agree with him. Barack Obama is not like George W. Bush.

It’s important that a distinction be made between the two men, in fact.  So we at RedState have put together a list – a non-exhaustive list – explaining just how the two are different.

Why the President is nothing like George W. Bush.

  • George W. Bush didn’t blame his predecessor for his own failures.
  • George W. Bush can throw a pitch.
  • George W. Bush believes in American exceptionalism.
  • George W. Bush set policy.
  • George W. Bush showed respect and courtesy to the opposite party while President.
  • George W. Bush didn’t let his appointments set policy.
  • George W. Bush doesn’t whine.
  • George W. Bush went out and did the things that he said that he’d do.
  • George W. Bush has a thick skin.
  • George W. Bush faced down a hostile Congress on issues that mattered to him.
  • George W. Bush doesn’t give a… flying leap… what the polls say.
  • George W. Bush could make, and take responsibility for, tough decisions.
  • George W. Bush didn’t take credit for other people’s work.
  • George W. Bush never had to remind anyone that he won.
  • George W. Bush had principles.
  • George W. Bush defended them.

And last, but certainly not least:

  • George W. Bush doesn’t bow.

We hope that clears the matter up for people.

They’ll act like they’ve taken Gibbs to the woodshed over it, but he was sent to do that so Comrade Obama can start playing the centrist game again as the mind-numbed begin to pay a little attention to the upcoming election.

Seems like forever, but it wasn’t that long ago, really.

Even Clinton’s flacks were better than this Gibbs character, who seems more suited for being the Delta house spokesman. I can visualize him starting a “Toga – toga – toga” chant or ranting about the Germans bombing Pearl Harbor.

He served in that job admirably.

Just the restraint he showed when dealing with the vile old crone Helen Thomas was remarkable.

    Gibbs is correct:
blo-Obama is Not George W. Bush
Bush actually had a pair of “BALLS” blo Obama has none

Bush did not bow to our enemies. blo-Obama can’t bow low enough
Bush did not insult our allies. blo-Obama makes it an art
Bush never made a visitor to the White House exit through the dumpster area of the building. blo-Obama not wanting to “anger” China sent the Dhali Lama(sp) out the back door right next to the dumpsters to appease the Chi-Coms
Bush talked about the Grateness and Genrosity of the American People. blo-Obama apologizes to world for America and calle us arrogant.
Bush praised and SERVED our Military. blo-Obama goes out of his way to undermine them.
George W. Bush SHOWED his LOVE for the United States and our Flag. blo-Obama stands in contempt at the site of our Flag, while giving it the CROTCH salute.

He had to be his grade school’s dodgeball champion. Seriously quick reflexes.
Too bad the MSM distorted things as usual and never mentioned the thrower was a Baathist, former Saddam syncophant and had a Che Guevara poster up in his room.

If not Bush, how about Nixon? Tricky was our most problematic President, brilliant yet awful. Obama has all of Nixon’s worst qualities, none of his strengths. For example:

Nixon was thin-skinned about criticism. Ditto Obama.
Nixon viciously demonized opponents and critics. Ditto Obama.
Nixon was a liar. Ditto Obama.
Nixon was paranoid and secretive. Ditto Obama.

    But on the other hand:
Nixon smoked out Communists in high government positions.
Obama appoints Communists to high government positions.

Nixon played Russia off of China off and China off of Russia.
Obama gets played by Russia and China.

    Nixon negotiated from strength.
    Obama negotiates from weakness.

Nixon was all substance and zero style.
Obama is all style and zero substance.

Nixon actually did something in Congress.
Obama actually did nothing in Congress.

I just note that because Gibbs was channeling Spiro Agnew.

Something Barack Obama hasn’t done, and John Kerry didn’t do until well after Bush’s second term was in progress.

    A few more:

George W. Bush never toasted Rashid Khalidi.
George W. Bush knows when human rights begin and does not think that question is above his pay-grade.
George W. Bush proudly signed the Born Alive Infant Protection Act. In the Illinois State Legislature, Obama killed the bill and supported infanticide.
Bush preferred private meetings with the troops out of view of the media. Obama will only visit the troops if the media can be there too.

    from the Telegraph.co.uk

    By Tim Shipman in Washington
    Published: 5:20PM GMT 14 Feb 2009

A bust of the former prime minister once voted the greatest Briton in history, which was loaned to George W Bush from the Government’s art collection after the September 11 attacks, has now been formally handed back.

The bronze by Sir Jacob Epstein, worth hundreds of thousands of pounds if it were ever sold on the open market, enjoyed pride of place in the Oval Office during President Bush’s tenure.

But when British officials offered to let Mr Obama to hang onto the bust for a further four years, the White House said: “Thanks, but no thanks.”

  • SoFiMil

He didn’t even have the decency the put it in the closet out of sight and shut up about it.

  • takemccain2

I tip my hat to Moe Lane for eloquently framing what we all think and know – Bush was a class act president and a leader.

Granted, I didn’t always agree with this positions – illegal immigration being a huge one – but on the issues I did agree with him (quality judges, preemption in the war on terror, keeping the homeland safe, faith-based initiatives and tax cuts) Bush got it right.

The Democrats and their media minions spent 8 years beating up on this decent and humble man, usually making themselves look petty and hateful. In the end they were able to persuade and lie to enough people to push Bush’s poll numbers down and get Obama elected. It wasn’t 6-7 after Obama took office that voters started realizing what a crock they were fed. They are now openly admitting that they got snookered.

You can keep your “Hope and Change” because we’ve got class and principled leadership on our side, and that is something you don’t even know how to recognize.

    God Bless President Bush.
