FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

State of the Race: Carly Fiorina (R CAND, CA-SEN).

I had the opportunity to talk with Carly yesterday on what is happening in the race right now. For those not following the Avastin controversy, it’s a cancer medication that is currently the target of a drive to have its FDA approval removed for last-stage breast cancer patients. Claims that this is primarily for financial reasons have been bolstered by this report from the BBC (via Hot Air) that the NHS is disallowing it for bowel cancer patients because it’s too expensive*. You can imagine how Carly feels about that… actually, you don’t have to imagine: you can listen to the interview.

Carly’s site is here.

*A little flub there on my part in the interview. Wishful thinking on it already being gone, you see.

I really like her and think she’s a great conservative. Some people have labeled her a RINO though and I’d like to know why.

And that’s I think Fiorina (and Whitman too) are good, solid candidates that are running in the right kind of environment to have a real shot at winning.

In Fiorina’s case, she’s clearly not a “movement conservative”, but she’s probably what I’d consider to be “moderate conservative”. IOW, she won’t be down-the-line for us, but she’ll be with us a lot more than she’s against us.

The only real open questions in CA are:

    1) Will Fiorina have enough money to get her message out and stay competitive? (Money is the King of CA politics – either you have enough of it to compete, or you’re nothing…)

    2) Will Obama’s favorability ratings in CA have fallen enough to make the state truly winnable for statewide GOP candidates?

If the answers are Yes, and Yes, then I’d say we have a real shot at both the SEN and the GOV race this year (as well as a number of downticket races as well!).

Carlie is our next CA Senator.

I wasn’t so sure of that for a while, but I think she is plugging along and doing a great job of contrasting a Republican small c conservative point of view on many of the issues that people who live in the state care about. Babs Boxer’s usual tools and tricks used in the past to attack R nominees who were way to the right on social issues than the majority of CA voters have been taken out, and now it’s down to talking to people about issues that matter. Water, jobs, wish she would weigh in on illegal immigration, bread and butter issues and a dialog about those issues. Babs has a poor record on those issues to run on, and now that she can’t play here usual cards, different game.

Babs is one nasty (rhymes with Witch), throw in that Carlie comes off nice and friendly and is fairly well funded and the gift that keeps giving, Obama foolishness is in the news all the time, Carlie going to keep her getting free media just pointing out the foolishness of Obama who is doing nothing for CA, no pork, not goodies, no nothing.

Carlie is going to be the next Senator from CA.

To a line of commenting that just shouldn’t happen here.

Carly won, and is our candidate. Let’s work to make sure she wins.

This is a conservative and Republican site.

The time to complain about Republican candidates is before the primary.

    Move along.

Let’s put it this way mboyle1988: I’ll ban anyone who starts bashing Fiorina, period. Same for Whitman.

That’s the headline at Israel National News.

    http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/139370

California Republican candidate Carly Fiorina is headed for Israel in a move she hopes will give her an edge over incumbent Democratic and Jewish Senator Barbara Boxer. Both candidates bill themselves as ?pro-Israel.?

Sen. Boxer previously has been supported by pro-Israel groups, but Jewish voters? growing dislike of U.S. President Barack Obama may taint her record.

    snip

The Republican Jewish Coalition is sponsoring the four-day visit to Israel…………

    ===============

Maybe Ms. Fiorina can smack some heads together and wake up most of Israel to what’s really going on.

    The Republican Jewish Coalition ?

All three members got involved this time, eh ?

    ;)

    I kid because I care.
