FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

Meet Paul LePage (R CAND, ME-GOV).

Paul is the Republican candidate for Maine’s gubernatorial race – and the one holding onto a honest-to-God lead there right now. We had a talk on why he’s running, and what he wants to do as Governor:

Paul’s website is here.

that was a great interview and he looks a bit like Chris Christie too. He sounds a bit like Chris Christie as well–Maine must be in North East USA.

Okay just a bit more Paul LePage who I am real high on. He won his primary with a lot of teaparty support and naturally Maine had a record turn for a midterm GOP primary. Paul LePage had a very different look then the other GOP primary guys. Several of his main primary foes looked like they stepped out of LL Bean Catalogs. Your perfect hair-perfect teeth-perfect family type picture perfect candidates. Nothing wrong with that but Paul’s story connects with a lot people. He was more or less homeless as a teenager and worked his way through high school and college.

His also has an somewhat unconventional ethnic background. He is of French Canadian Catholic–in the old days we called them Canucks-and that’s a common background for people in Maine/Vermont/New Hampshire. In the old days all the Yankees were republicans and the various Catholic Ethnics like the Irish/French/Italians were democrats. Those old saws do not hold as much anymore but a French Canadian Republican running for office is still rare. I might add that the GOP nominee in ME2 is also of French Canadian background.

we will see an extension of the 40 years of dimoshits leading this state further into obscurity. she came here 400 years ago from the Carolinas – PLEASE TAKE HER BACK !
She is a big union lover and her fix to our state’s economic mess (of which she has contributed to in no small part) is to increase taxes.
Paul is a true conservative – he blew his fellow Republican candidates out of the water and according to the polls he stands a 60% chance of winning. That would be phenomenal.

I have huge respect for him. His story is very motivational in that he was homeless for while when he was young and made something of himself through hard work
