Rick Boucher (D, VA-09) buys new car with campaign money.

Via… Not Larry Sabato, who cannot be happy about the fact that his fully-justified anger at seeing a 14 term Democratic Congressman use campaign finance money to buy himself a nice, new car is now showing up as yet another reason why to vote for Rick Boucher’s opponent Morgan Griffith, who is not using special-interest money to buy himself shiny new automobiles.  I know this because I just called to check; and the sound of their laughter at the very thought…

PS: For extra giggles, Boucher sabotaged his own administration’s fiscal policies by buying a Ford.  What, Government Motors wasn’t good enough for the Democrat?  Didn’t the government buy that company for our own good?

PPS: Morgan is also campaigning on the idea of cutting Congress’s pay by 10%.

Hope it was worth it, Ricky.

I wonder how many people that gave money to his campaign have a car payment. And he didn’t even buy the ObamaVolt. (Ya know, the car for the people not the Government)!

Now he can drive off into the sunset because he just drove over a cliff.

Come on, folks. One cannot expect one of our Elected Elites to drive around in a beat up truck. Oh wait. Scott Brown did that.

  • Adjoran

Boucher may have been making a practice of this.

If not, it sorta says he sees the handwriting on the wall and intends to cash out all he can.

Hey, remember those grand old days when retiring congresscritters could keep their leftover campaign funds for personal use? Heh.

  • gunsrus

and he used Uncle Sams money to buy it
    and it came from France
and AIG had to be bailed out to keep the loan
and waaaaaa you guys are so UNFAIR

  • jnowlin

Boucher had already lost about 25% of his support with his Cap and Trade yes vote. I suspect this car scandal will finish him off.

So, the news media (NBC clone cable networks that no one watches) spend all day investigating the $2, and other small amounts that Christine spent on food, rent or other expenses and yet they will NOT investigate all day on Rick spending campaign funds on a new vehicle. Nothing But Communists and their satellites have no audience because…….?

I care less about the background and nothing about the pedigree of a candidate but rather how they will vote. Will they join with other Conservatives to quickly begin to radically reverse the government takeover and government controls which Obama and his cronies (Pelosi, Reed, and company) have put into effect. Reverse, void, eliminate Obamacare, protect our borders, arrest and deport illegals, if the investigations have revealed no wrong doing, stop and cease any investigation of Arpaio, win the war in Afghanistan and/or eliminate the Taliban and begin all these things quickly. Stop any nominees to the SCOTUS that ascribe to European or world law or hold the U.S. Constitution in distain, same for other federal judgeships. Vote conservative, quite compromising to elect RINOs to get along and be bi-partisan (which is just agreeing with Progressives and Demonrats), vote conservative (go Dr. Paul Broun!), vote conservative, vote conservative!

albeit from Fairfax, but I know people from that area and I can almost personally guarantee that Boucher was a dead man walking when he voted for Cap and Trade.

All current and past members of Congress (and maybe other government roles) should be means tested for income and personal wealth before receiving any public benefit, just like the rest of us,

I’m sure that most, but by no means all, would be kicked away from the public trough.

I’m certain that he will only use this new automobile for political purposes: driving to campaign events, getting carryout going to and from events, going to liquor stores before and after events, driving his female campaign workers home (wink, wink). And I’ll bet he puts a big ‘Rick Boucher for Congress’ bumper sticker on it, so technically the vehicle provides him with mobile advertising. All personal uses with be off-limits. We know this to be true because he is a Democrat, and Democrats never engage in unethical behavior. Right?

It bears repeating, and repeating again, that the taxpayer’s money does not need to be spent on arrest and deportation. The claim that this is necessary is usually a red herring put forth by open borders advocates trying to convince people it would be too difficult, and cost too much, to move the illegals back home.

What is needed is a strong system of electronic verification of a prospective employee’s right to work in the country. As it is, we now have a voluntary E-Verify system, It isn’t perfect (it wouldn’t catch someone using another’s name and matching Social Security Account Number), and the penalties for employing an illegal aren’t much. If we had a mandatory system to require employers to check on employees at hiring, and stiff penalties for failure to do so, there would be a significant movement of illegals out of the country, People don’t stay when they can’t work.

The left sets up the system to tie death penalty cases up in the courts for years if not decades, then argues we should drop the death penalty because it’s cheaper to give them a life sentence.

They want to make anti-immigration efforts the same sort of self-fulfilling prophecy, where it’s cheaper for you to give up fighting.

My opponent, Jerry Costello, did the same thing. On his campaign disclosures there’s a check to a car dealership for almost 24 thousand dollars to the local Chrysler dealership for a nice new car. Of course this doesn’t seem to make the news, but it should!

and I am not so sure Rick Boucher will lose. The area is conservative leaning, but Boucher has bought them off for 28 years with pork barrel spending. It’ll be hard to unseat him, and the only poll I’ve seen showed him leading in July. Griffith needs all the help we can give him.
