Reid: Gillibrand ‘hottest’ Senator.

You've come a long way, baby.

(Via Hot Air Headlines) If you were wondering whether or not current Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D, NV) is snapping under the strain of facing Sharron Angle, well, stop wondering.  If he was not snapping, Reid almost certainly would not have made such a strong contrast between Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand at a recent NYC fundraiser thrown for Reid by Mayor Bloomberg.  To sum up the difference in the tenor of Reid’s remarks (subtext added):

  • Schumer: Chuckie Schumer is so smart and so good at politics!  He was great as DSCC  Chair, too – unlike that idiot we have now who can’t even get rid of one single, troublesome, inconvenient woman
  • Gillibrand: …she’s HOT!  …And, oh, yeah, she knows something about securities law.

And if you think that I’m being unfair to Reid and the rest of his crew?  Contemplate this paragraph, which says it all:

Gillibrand was not among those who was asked to speak at the event, the sources said.

Because when you’re eye candy for a Democratic politician, you’re expected to concentrate on being strictly visual in your appeal, apparently.  But look on the bright side: at least Harry Reid and the rest of the Democratic party’s leadership lets Kristen Gillibrand wear shoes.

Progress, right?

Moe Lane

PS: Sharron Angle is trying to give Reid a September to remember.  And she’s really close to it, too.

PPS: The two GOP candidates for NY-SEN are Joe DioGuardi (Gillibrand) and Jay Townsend (Schumer).

if the guy really wants to be reelected. He’s in danger of going back to the minority, and even if they squeak by he might lose his Leader spot.

Suits me fine, but I’d have preferred he just retire and remove any doubt.

maybe she can put on a “hot girl” accent too when she wants….

…how nice it is to have someone clean and articulate as the senator from New York?

I know I am guilty of saying bad things when I am fustrated..who knows what kind of day he was having. Since he apologized and it was most likely just said in fustration NOT a thought out statement towards her, I don’t think we should crucify him again for it.

  • itrytobenice

we should *definitely* crucify him again. He’s a jerk. He is in a position of authority and he thought to use that position to run roughshod over a person who was just trying to do her job.

He thinks he’s better than the little people. His “b” comment was just more evidence of it.

Don’t forget, our illustrious rulers hide their true colors as much as possible. We only occasionally get glimpses of their true character. This is a glimpse. And it shows one of the reasons Congress is contemptible. They think they are above us. Above our rules and above our lives. Hence the flood of legislation that treats us like their personal serfs, put on earth to work to support their pet causes.

These are the rules Democrats have played by for years, with great success. Chuck U. Schumer would certainly use this type of thing against an opponent. He should expect no less from us.

The lefties are in a desperate panic. As much as I enjoy this spectacle, I do worry about how much mischief they will cause on their way out. The GOP leadership must grow a pair and hold the lines against the lame ducks until January.

I understand frustration (been there, done that, repeated it often) but it’s no excuse.

I once had a stewardess (yes, I still call them that) who must have been Nurse Ratched’s twin sister. She was absolutely the worst I’ve ever encountered, behaving very badly (rude, loud, angry) toward everyone, for little or no reason. I halfway expected her to drag out the electro-shock equipment at any moment to “correct” the man across the aisle who dared to ask her for a different pillow.

Yet oddly enough, I didn’t see fit to shout out an offensive insult. I took down her name, and wrote a calm letter to the airline instead. This decision had nothing whatever to do with her worthiness or lack thereof, but it was rather my choice to avoid descending to her level and below.

Chuckie obviously has no such rational ability to determine what to say, how to say it, and when it’s more advisable to shut up. He’s an arrogant little twit who believes the world revolves around him. His stewardess should count herself lucky that she wasn’t between Chuckie and a camera crew; she might have been trampled to death.

well in due deference to Harry if you were in room with the likes of Boxer, Murray, and Milkulski anyone ould look hot in comparison ( just a joke)

And the worst part is their internal ugliness.

    n/t :-)

but I think he didn’t know she was in ear shot
and maybe I’m just the most fouled mouthed easily fustrated/angered person here but I know I have at least THOUGHT and sometimes SAID rude comments about someone in fustration..and many times when I’ve bit my toungue but NOT my thoughts..come to find out the person I was upset at had one heck of a day and is dealig with A LOT in their life and I’ve felt horrible when I found out.
With his situation maybe he was texting sometimg important, I don’t know and he just felt fustrating it had to end?
Was he rud yes, did she deserve an apology yes, should he be embarrassed yes but I don’t think we should keep bringing it up or let it define him. A lot of people get fustrated and react quickly and say things they don’t really mean. I work in customer service you would be surprised how people can turn around in the time frame of 2 minute. I’m a stupid b*****, c*****, etc, etc and then they apologize 2 minutes later LOL. It’s not right but they are just reacting to their anger – they just aren’t patient or reached their limit and initially are too upset to even receive communication from me. I’m not excusing it.. but he wasn’t picking a fight with shouting that at her, he was just reacting/venting I believe.

There’s plenty on which we can rightfully slam Reid. In fact, it would surprise me if he made the comment hoping to take some heat off the 14+% unemployment figure in Nevada. Paying any attention at all to this just detracts from the serious arguments against his reelection.

  • http://moelane.com/ Moe Lane

I’ll keep kicking him whenever he does something this dumb, thanks.

  • Martin Knight

Do you know anything about Chuck Schumer at all? The attacks he led on Ashcroft, Roberts and Alito? Were you not sentient when the Democrats and their handmaidens in the media tried to crucify Dick Cheney for his intemperate response to Pat Leahy?

Are you under the illusion that if this were a Republican Senator this would not suddenly become national news, and that it would be used to define the entire GOP, not just that particular individual?

Please, this is not some polite dinner party or playground patty cake time. This is campaign season. We should joyfully exploit it – the way he would have – with neither fear nor apology.

  • RedBeard

I’m with Moe. This is a fight for the survival of our country, no less, and we must take every opportunity to hammer Reid, even for small things like this. Sure, it’s much less important than a lot of his actions, but we don’t have a quota; we can hit him on everything. And should.

Hold on! We’re goin’ for broke!

14.4% unemployment in Nevada doesn’t. It’s a distraction, and I find it difficult to believe that it was a coincidence that the comment was made extremely close to the time that that figure was released.
