FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

Meet Patrick John Ryan (‘R’-CAND, IL-STATE 22).

Well… actually, if you can you’re one up on the Illinois Republican party, which is in the novel position of running a fundraiser for a candidate whom nobody can find.

Illinois Republican Party Chairman Pat Brady announced that the Party will host a fundraiser for Patrick John Ryan, the “Republican” candidate challenging House Speaker Michael Madigan in the race for State Representative in the 22nd House district.

“We applaud Mr. Ryan for taking on such an enormous challenge of trying to unseat Speaker Madigan, and we want to show our support,” said Chairman Brady. “He’s definitely got the intestinal fortitude we look for in our Republican challengers. I’d just like to meet him.”

The background of this: Mike Madigan is one of the powers of the Illinois Democratic party, if not the power; and one of the few politicians that the current President of the United States takes seriously (he should; Madigan helped create Barack Obama). And Madigan has the good fortune of having “Republicans” that nobody’s ever heard of run against him in his district. And I mean nobody: the Illinois GOP sent somebody to Ryan’s listed house address, and got no answer.  But it’s a new day in Illinois, and since the GOP has a candidate and everything, it seemed only appropriate to Illinois GOP chair Pat Brady that Ryan be supported by the party.  So, they’re doing a fundraiser: and if they raise three thousand dollars…

…and I’ve been assured that they will…

…then apparently there has to be a campaign committee formed!  It’s like, the law and everything.  But Ryan doesn’t have to worry; the Illinois GOP will take care of everything, including the campaign strategy.

The very, very, very vigorous campaign strategy.  Which will be all in Patrick John Ryan’s name.

PS: Actually, this is how you stop shenanigans like Mike Madigan’s in the first place.

If there ever was a politician that could be labeled “Kingmaker” he is it. There are three people in Illinois politics that I cannot stomach, Mayor Daley, Mike Madigan, and who ever is the corrupt politician du jour…

He is the poster child for term limits among other things. The sad truth is, if you want something done in Illinois, you go through Mike Madigan, or it doesn’t get done….ever.

Just as is being done here – raise some money for the bogus candidate, force Madigan to take a threat he thought he’d neutralized seriously, backing a candidate Madigan created because it’s not like this Ryan can abdicate and let Madigan keep the seat….

They must have pulled a Lazarus to find an acceptable candidate.

I’m aware of a campaign in which we (oh, year, I helped) elected a dead guy (he died after the ballots were printed, past the deadline for slating a replacement), but running a phantom opponent is a new one on me.

Does anyone know whether there’s even a slim possibility of getting the phantom elected? It shouldn’t be impossible to find an Illinois citizen named “Patrick John Ryan,” and not completely far-fetched to persuade said citizen to help save the State.

Oh, yeah, I’m daydreaming, but wouldn’t that just be delicious?!!!??? Now, there’s a campaign I’d love to work on!

Pat Brady hasn’t lifted a FINGER for me and I’m the Republican nominee for US Congress in the 12th district that has the long-term incumbent running scared. He never even called me when I won the primary on February 2nd and I haven’t heard a peep out of him during my campaign–not even one phone call. I can guess where the money from this fundraiser is going. Welcome to Illinois.

Illinois requires BY LAW and WITH PENALTIES than anyone who raises more or spends more than $3000 form a campaign committee and file appropriate campaign disclosure reports. I suspect this is a way for force Maddigan’s puppet to come out of the closet and file reports or go to jail. If this is a fictitious person, we can go after whoever filed the bogus campaign forms (hopefully Maddigan himself).

Maddigan has been playing dirty politics in this state for too long…..

P.S. Good luck on your race. We could use you in congress. Unfortunately, my resources and time are stretched too thin to be able to offer you more than luck.

I’m working a bit north of your district and trying to get local candidates elected, including Mike Unes who is running for the 91st legislative district against a Mike Maddigan puppet, Mike Smith. Fortunately, even the Democrats in this district are fed up with the shenanigans in Springfield and most of the people who’s doors I’ve knocked on are ready to vote for Mike Unes (too many Mikes in this race, can’t keep them straight without a scorecard).

Maybe he’s related to John Patrick Ryan, better known as Jack Ryan, the hero of many of Tom Clancy’s novels.
