FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

Meet Sean Bielat (R CAND, MA-04).

Sean is running against Barney Frank, and any other year that might be a daunting prospect. This being 2010, and it’s sufficiently worrisome to Frank that he’s bringing in Bill Clinton to campaign for him. We talked to Sean about this, and other aspects of the race:

Sean’s website is here. Keep an eye on this race; it’s got the right combination of a serious candidate, bad national and local conditions, and an incumbent who a little too used to being in power…

I watched him on a televised debate last week. He was debating himself, because Frank blew the event off. It gave Bielat an empty canvas on which to paint his ideas and plans.
Picking this seat up would be a long shot, but making it a close race is well within reasonable expectations. The fact that Frank had to pull Clinton in here is telling.
Bielat is not the GOP’s best Congressional hope in MA this fall. That would be Jeff Perry(MA-10).

I’d really like to see him win in this cycle. He’s an increasingly impressive candidate against a turgid and worn-out incumbent who really deserves to stop the double-talk.

Is here to stay in his district in Massachusetts. He’s not not walking away from the place he lives, and he has a very different idea of what Massachusetts needs than what it has now. I agree with him.

Thanks for featuring him here, Moe. There are more Republicans and Conservatives in Massachusetts now than there ever have been in recent decades who want to run for statewide and nationwide office, and I think it’s important to bring them into people’s discussion of what Republicans and Conservatives are in this country.

We’re doing our best to help them.

At the gathering I asked Erick why we haven’t jumped behind Sean sooner and he said it’s very simple really. Too many candidates and not enough time.

I understand the concept of limited resources and some races are simply more important than others but in my (humble) opinion Barney Frank is a high value target. One because of his entrenched imcumbency and two because he is a wrecking crew to this economy and as Mr. Bielat has said ,Barney was at ground zero of the financial meltdown and if that is not enough to at least get him fired then what the hell is….?

Quite simply, if there could only be a handful of races to target Barney Frank should be at the top of that list.
    The man has to go.
Taking him down would be a huge score. HUGE !!!

Moe…we can tip this pudgy little windbag over.
    I know we can.
    People despise him here.
The only reason he ever wins is because no one ever challenges him.
    Until now.

If I may use one of Erick’s expressions, ” this is a hill to die on.”

To start things off tonight I am going to pony up $50 For Mr. Bielat.

The shock and disbelief from the liberal media will be priceless if Sean defeats Barney.

As others have pointed out, Barney’s hands are all over the financial meltdown, and if anyone needs to be defeated it’s him.

Sean is a great candidate and would be a great addition to Congress.

After the Clinton rally I visited the Boston.com web site to read the story and of 100 or so comments, almost all of them were pro Sean. Reminded me of the Scott Brown race. :)

  • NeoKong

Brown was still down in the polls a month out from the election.
Once the race went national the money poured in and he overtook Coakley.
Newton,Brookline and Wellesley are pretty affluent districts and they may not like what Barney plans for their bank accounts especially after the hit they have already taken.

I think it would be very effective to just hammer Frank with his own words again and again.

  • itsjoanne

I think Scott surged ahead in the last couple of weeks.

I do wish this race would get much more attention. I really think Sean can win, and to say this would be a huge upset is an understatement. In fact, only the defeat of Steny Hoyer or Pelosi would be bigger news I think.

  • NeoKong

I predict Nancy will retire sometime next year after her humiliating loss of the House.
She will be as popular as a tape worm.

Sean has been getting some good media attention lately from Sean Hannity and Fox and the local stations here in Mass. and that is what is closing the gap for him.
He is pulling it all together quite nicely.

I didn’t know Hannity had interviewed him, that is great. Hopefully Mark Levin will also and Laura Ingraham.

What is most important right now is that he gets attention in MA, so glad to know he is. I REALLY hope he wins. :)

Perry is clearly doing best in the polls, but how bout if both Bielat and Perry win? Sean’s poll numbers are moving dramatically in the right direction right now, and his exposure is only starting to ramp up!

Throw Golnik or Hudak into the mix for a 3 seat pickup in MA.

    Its “that year”.

  • NeoKong

    N/T

  • swami7774

He’s running against a very weak incumbent, Niki Tsongas. Hudak has no shot, which is unfortunate because the incumbent in his district(John Tierney)is loathsome.

Between you and Ace, my pocketbook finally sprang open.

    Go get ‘em, Sean!!
