Meet Rich Iott (R CAND, OH-09)

This is Marcy Kaptur’s seat, and Rich is pretty determined to win it.  Rich is a businessman who’s running for the first time – which seems to be a theme for Republican nominees these days, along with military veterans and medical doctors; go figure – and we talked about the race for a bit:

Rich’s site is here.  Nice guy; check him out.

She is the longest serving woman in Congress. Its time for her to go. Normally she has only token opposition. This year Rich’s signs are EVERYWHERE. This is definitely a tough district for Republicans but I bet this is going to be close. I sat with him at our county Lincoln Day dinner. Good guy.

    …..at her diary here.

    ……and donated to the cause.

    A pleasure to do so.

I lived in Toledo for 25 years, and happened to need to go there in the past months.

What is heartening is that in lower-middle-class areas you see houses with his signs in the yards, sometimes very large ones.

The class-warfare ads against him would not seem to be working as hoped. His family owned a supermarket chain which was absorbed by a Michigan company, and then run into the ground. He of course is therefore a “fat cat” who cannot be trusted, even though the incompetence of the Michigan company was not his fault.

We will see if the area comes to its senses and votes the Dems out: unionisn is still pretty strong.

Kaptur is a supposed Catholic who is usually tippy-toeing with the Dems pro-abortion agenda. She is ultimately a mediocrity, completely undistinguished after nearly 30 years in Congress.
