Pelosi partying like it’s 2006.

Would that it was. 2007+ got bad fast.

Odd, isn’t it?  The GOP wins big last Tuesday night, and we – like adults – avoid unseemly celebrations about it.  Given the almost double-digit unemployment, horrible economy, crushing debt load, and the rest of the Democratic legacy we’re inheriting, it seems… childish… to make the welkin ring*.  But by God Nancy Pelosi’s going to have a party on Wednesday ‘honoring the accomplishments’ of the 111th Congress.  You know: the double-digit unemployment, horrible economy, crushing debt load, and all that.

Mind you, this is mostly to convince those House members who managed to survive Pelosi’s help this election cycle that they want to make her their leader in the next election cycle, too.  I’d say that going along with this mad scheme of the woman’s was insane, but then it’d leave me without a word to adequately describe the belief that shoving Obamacare down all of our throats would somehow translate into gaining seats.

Moe Lane (crosspost)

*A ‘welkin’ is actually an archaic word for ‘sky’ or ‘cloud;’ so to ‘make the welkin ring’ means ‘to make the heavens themselves reverberate with sound’ (usually celebratory).  Just in case you ever wondered.

    If Nancy’s goal was to advance the progressive agenda and increase government control over the plebes then she can consider herself a success and rightly party to celebrate her accomplishments.
    From her point of view she was successful. She was able to accomplish with Obamacare what successive generations of progressives haven’t been able to; a government takeover of health care. To use a football metaphor, she’s advanced the ball closer to her red zone.

    …and they can cry if they want to.

    Princess P has finally gone totally and irrevocably batty.

  • basalt_conservative

    …but we are going to be the ones doing the crying after getting the bill for her celebration (and that includes the cost of all that Congress passed over the last few years!)

    The fact the dems are going to reward and celebrate Pelosi’s dismal failure is consistent with their philosophy of only punishing success. Failure and lack of accomplishment or effort are to be celebrated. I wouldn’t expect anything less.

    From each according to their ability, to each according to their needs. Did I mention I’m VERY needy?

    The party, no doubt, is to celebrate the dems successful destruction of this
    nation’s economy. It was never about winning seats in Congress.

    for all the moderate Dems who are;

    A. Pretty stupid for even being Democrats, and;

    B. Were really stupid to have committed political suicide in allegiance to the Nancy, Harry and Barry troika of buffonery.

    Or will the rest of the unwashed just have to look at the pictures of dems living large of the taxpayers backs and be happy for getting that much out of the new deal?

    There is a definite upside to keeping Pelosi and Reid. They, with Obama, are the faces of the failures of the 111th Congress and the Obama Administration. I’m glad to keep them before the public.

    running for re-election in 2012 having voted for Pelosi again might be shedding a few tears.

    Haven’t we been hearing for the last two years that Obama’s brought us through more crisis in his two years if office than the previous combined crisis our country’s gone through in its entire existence as a nation? And that the Congress, led by Nancy Pelosi, has passed more landmark legislation than any Congress ever, at least since the Great Depression?

    If the White House wants to withdraw their previous humble assertion that the Obama/Reid/Pelosi team have saved our country several times over from the brink of despair, I’m all for this. But until they do, if it’s a party Pelosi wants, then it’s a party Pelosi should get.

    Then we will have a nice collage to represent the dim performance.

    I’m thinking a bulleted list of their “accomplishments” as the centerpiece surrounded by images of the Imperial vacations, the golfing superstar and events such as this. Oh, say, perhaps billboard size? A few thousand of them. Displayed in “purple” areas hardest hit by foreclosures and job loss?

    Spend as much of the taxpayers hard-earned dollars as you can before we remove that big old gavel from your greedy little hands. Go ahead and add to the tally of wasteful money that has been taken out of the people’s pockets for your use. And while you’re at it, why don’t you throw this party on your jet and fly all around the country boozing it up.

    P.S. Good luck on your race for Minority Leader. Your personal budget is going to be a little smaller, but for the next couple of months go ahead and spend and celebrate like there’s no tomorrow.
