FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

Pelosi, Hoyer, and Clyburn share a smaller pie.

I’m not… appalled: this is minority-party business, and as such is not likely to interfere with the real business of the House anyway.  But… wow.  Just… wow.  They’re going to short-circuit the looming Hoyer/Clyburn Minority Whip fight by giving Clyburn an extra-special new #3 position, just for him!  No word on the duties, privileges, job description, or even the name of said position (I suggest Super-Magical Double-Rainbow Space Pony Universe Champion, but that’s just me) – but it’s definitely the #3 slot!

The real question is: is this an opportunity to go after Hoyer (and thus what remaining House ‘moderates’ still survive) by putting Clyburn into a position to weaken the Whip’s job?  Or is this yet another instance where Pelosi and her party demonstrates the soft bigotry of lowered expectations by giving the senior African-American Democrat* in Congress a meaningless title (while making sure that Clyburn stays in his assigned place in the Democratic party’s hierarchy)?  I could see it going either way… or maybe the Democratic leadership just doesn’t care enough about either group to favor one above the other.  Which would honestly not surprise me in the slightest, honestly.

You may be onto something. Some things never change in Liberalville

Certainly the GOP won’t add additional funding for that position, so let’s hope it comes out of Nancy’s and Steny’s share of what pie they have left.

But I guess the way we’ll hear it is that the racist GOP is denying funding to a well-deserving black Congressman that Nancy and Steny threw under a bus.

That’s what the Dems will be offering Barack Obama when he gets back. It’s pretty much what Barack & Michelle have done their entire “working” lives, so their response will be, what took you so long?

It’s a good deal: You get to keep the House, the cars, the plane, the Presidential Seal, the teleprompters, the Oval. Meanwhile Joe Biden, Hillary et al set up a caretaker government to run things for the next two years.

Obama: I can play golf as much as I want?

Absolutely! And, you won’t have to go to church twice a year, or attend those pesky wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington that you keep laying off on Biden.
It’s a win-win! The Clyburn Special! All privileges, no duties!

and Michelle can spend more time toning her arms after all those luscious state dinners and non-healthy foreign cuisine.

He suggested that Clayburn’s new position would be “Driving Miss Nancy”.

Here I am, in good faith trying to eliminate all remaining vestiges of racism in my being and you have to pop a title in my head like the Stay Soft Marshmallow Man in Ghostbusters.

    Thanks.

So what’s this guy supposed to be in charge of?

by schmoozing Clyburn and the Black Caucus to lock in their support.
Politics 101. But in the article it said the result was,”Pelosi is assured of remaining Democratic party leader when the new Congress convenes in January under a Republican majority.”
What happened to the challenge by Heath Shuler for her job? That story was all over earlier today. I was pretty sure they were going to select a more moderate candidate for the position. Don’t get me wrong, I think Pelosi hanging around will hurt the Dems even further come 2012 and I’m all for that. But the Libs really seem to have lost any bit of political savvy they had left and are doing a wonderful impression of lemmings right now.
Here’s to the edge of the cliff and the long drop to the rocks.

its too bad they did not throw him under a real bus. Every dumb person in the state is in his district…………..

having to sit in the back of the Democrat limousine. Driver sits up front.

Except in this case the driver would be in the back seat, and her second would be riding shotgun, which just might give Clyburn some second thoughts about turning his back on either one of them.

Reportedly he may announce something, but it sounds like even he doesn’t think he’s going to win.

Okay time to start the 2012. Republican commercial:

ANNOUNCER: For years the minority party only needed two leadership positions. What was the Democrats response with a trillion dollar deficit to organize their minority party. Create another job at your tax dollar expense!

And your democrat congressman supported it!
