Velma Hart (Obama Town Hall Woman) laid off.

Kind of ironic, but supposedly not targeted; Velma Hart’s company (AmVets) just couldn’t afford to keep her any longer, that’s all. At least, I hope that this administration wasn’t so stupid as to get the CFO for Amvets – and a military veteran herself – fired.  Even if Ms. Hart had made the critical mistake of being critical to the President’s face on national television.

But, just in case Ms. Hart was targeted: I’d like to remind her that the representative for her district is Donna Edwards, and that Rep. Edwards is a liberal antiwar moonbat who bragged about voting to defund the war in Afghanistan.  Not to be ghoulish or anything, but since Ms. Hart is out of work anyway what’s the harm in her giving these people a call?  Believe me: voting reflexively Democratic is one of those habits that people can unlearn, and we’re always looking for folks with a good, solid, American background.

Hey.  Just throwing it out, there.  It seems wasteful to have such a great personal narrative there and not use it; and I can think of at least three good reasons why Velma Hart would never be allowed to be a successful Democratic legislator, at any level.  So why not explore other options?

Maybe it wasn’t targeted, but it sure doesn’t look good. She was the CFO of the company? It’s not like laying off someone from the mailroom. I remember Paula Jones got audited by the IRS after she became vocal about Pres. Clinton’s sexual advances. If I recall, she didn’t have a high paying job and, I think, lived in a mobile home. Seems like somebody like that would not be a candidate for raising a big red flag at the IRS.

But a lot of these politicians are quite thin-skinned. And they aren’t above getting even.

Not according to Obama and his Administration. As a CFO, she should have known she was one of those evil rich people, as this was an easy number to crunch.

Ms. Hart’s characterization of herself as “middle class” starts at 0:24

Guess TOTUS wasn’t able to attend the Q&A.

by accusing people of conspiracies without evidence, even in a tongue in cheek manner. they did it to us with the attack on the chamber of commerce and paid dearly for it, so i besides being unethical, its not exactly a winning strategy.

getting her to run as a republican… another story.

But you have to think the possibility crossed Velma’s mind, don’t you?

Unless the concern is going out of business, they never lay off CFOs. They are way more likely to lay off all the receptionists and workers first. This was definitely payback, whether it was directed by the White House or not. I’m sure everybody who worked there was a huge Obama fan. Surely more than one person there was offended by her question.

love to see redstate veterans embrace new, young members like myself with such open arms and engaging dialog. as such a seasoned veteran, you may do well to brush off the old book of redstate’s rules and regulations regarding respect and personal attacks. if you aren’t careful you might get your account suspended! this CONCERNS me.

a lot of the article is premised on hart being targeted, even though mr. lane acknowledges the stupidit of such a move. the obama administration thinks, above all else, in political terms and is obviously concerned with appearances. they wouldn’t risk targeting her because any evidence of it would eventually imperil the administrations attempt at a second term..

on the other hand, if we amuse ourself with completely unrealistic speculation and it turns out that she was fired for some other reason, we’ll just look like rumormongers.

and of course, some, including beaglescout below ijb above, don’t need any real evidence at all.

I don’t think Obama had a hand in her firing; The fervor is strong among Obama acolytes, and there are plenty of freelancers out there–like Helen Jones-Kelly, Julie McConnell or Jamie Foxx– to take matters into their own hands unasked.

Obama is not as concerned with appearances as you might think, He is perfectly willing to literally and figuratively flip off anyone who offends him or is threatening to him, and his acolytes just marvel at his insouciance.

If he really cares about appearances, he might intercede on her behalf in some discreet fashion, knowing that word of his good will would spread. But that would require too much grace for a man who prefers Corinthian columns, iconic images of himself and metal signs throughout the land proclaiming his good works.

AMVETS is a non-profit organization dedicated to getting for veterans “what the government owes them”. To accomplish this, it lobbys the Defense Department and the Bureau of Veteran’s Affairs. One phone is all it would take to point out to AMVET’S leadership that they could lose access to these government departments if they kept hostile people like Ms. Hart in their employ. AMVETS gets its money mainly from membership dues……No results, no members. How does a non-profit get into financial difficulties. Unless they lose their membership, they have a stable income. Just show me a list of all the people that were furloughed to alleviate AMVET’s “financial problems” and I will be a believer in coincidences. Until then, I will believe that “something is rotten in Denmark”.
