I Love RedState - Happy New Year !!!

I became a RedStater in 2010. Every time I log in I feel like a rebel meeting with my fellow believers on how to stick it to the redcoats.

Let’s hope the new house shakes things up a bit. Here’s to 2011!!

Blessings

… from Texas. About 25% of our voters are Hispanic, with the amusing qualification of “majority minorities” in several cities.

Yes, we have an “illegal immigrant problem,” but many should be aware that native Mexicans fought along side Americans at the Alamo to become our Republic that has now gained two to four Representatives and Electoral votes:

Of the estimated 189 men who died in the Alamo, only six were actually born in Texas: Juan Abamillo, Juan A. Badillo, Carlos Espalier, Gregorio Esparza, Antonio Fuentes, and Andrés Nava.

There is a debate remaining: pundits and politicians will take sides. I side with the Pater Familias (who I met) that slogged through the valleys of Korea for America to earn his citizenship. I side with one who got off the boat from Ireland and enlisted in the Continental Army, and other sons of immigrants who ended up at Andersonville.

History aside (who in Congress pays attention?), I should hope for a Prospero Año Nuevo for the American People, and not so much prosperity for our CongressCritters (who have not done their jobs).

You’re right it’s not hard. I mean all we have to do is give Ezra Klein a copy of the Gettysburg address.

“Four score and seven..”

What? The score is 4 to 7. Huh? Man, I wish Lincoln would just speak English.

I mean the address was written over 100 years ago.

The soldier above all others prays for peace, for it is the soldier who must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war.

Of course that should read “Confusing OUR enemies”

“… Confusion to our enemies!” Here, here!

May we start by securing a better RNC Chair in two weeks (or cutting loose it’s relevance if it elects an ObamaCare prop or anti-72 hour GOTV hack)… Continue by stopping, reversing or at least putting the breaks on leftist regulations and laws, and pledge not to devour conservative 2012 GOP presidential candidates, less we nominate a rube who will let BHO stay for four more years.

Happy New Year to the Redstate Community

My New Year's Wish for all at Red State, including myself, is

earlgrey (Diary) Saturday, January 1st at 10:22AM EDT (link)

that we all continue to find our voice, to not run away from making our point even if it is with liberal friends, to not feel ashamed for having what we have worked for, to become active and noticed in our local Republican party, and that we support other conserviatives by being civil even when we disagree.

Happy New Year.

May the Lord sustain us in our struggle.

roscopico (Diary) Saturday, January 1st at 10:33AM EDT (link)

And they don’t call us the “right” for nothing!

All the best for a successful new year, Redstaters.

Im Himmel gibt’s kein Bier…

roscopico, please elaborate

CincoSolas_del_Bronx (Diary) Saturday, January 1st at 12:27PM EDT (link)

Your unqualified juxtaposition of “Lord”, “us” and “right” is reminiscent of certain failed historical ventures which used similar terms; what is your meaning?

Those dreading urbanization should remember that though the Kingdom of God first appeared in a temporal Garden, at the end of the book it is established in an eternal City. (paraphrase, James M. Boice)

soli Deo gloria

What do I need to qualify?

roscopico (Diary) Saturday, January 1st at 8:39PM EDT (link)

Those whom we (conservatives) oppose (Statists) have no belief in natural law, since they do not believe in he from which it came. Without G-d, why would there be right or wrong, let alone anything else?

I guess I don’t understand what sort of quibble you might have with my original remarks…

Im Himmel gibt’s kein Bier…

Thanks for the elaboration, roscopico

CincoSolas_del_Bronx (Diary) Saturday, January 1st at 11:58PM EDT (link)

but it does not remove my concern that you are implying that the division between “right with God” and “not right with God” coincides with the division between “politically conservative” and “statist”.

If that was your intent, I have no desire to argue the point here beyond stating that the Bible, at least, gives no warrant for, and ample warrant against, such usage.

Nor does history, as I alluded in my quibble.

Those dreading urbanization should remember that though the Kingdom of God first appeared in a temporal Garden, at the end of the book it is established in an eternal City. (paraphrase, James M. Boice)

soli Deo gloria

I guess we'll just leave it at that...

roscopico (Diary) Sunday, January 2nd at 10:56AM EDT (link)

And make no mention of any sort of morality issue like the 1.2 million babies killed each year to the glee and delight of the left. Indeed there is one side that is “right”.

Have yourself a very happy new year with my best regards.

Im Himmel gibt’s kein Bier…

roscopico, you'll find it impossible to reconcile your projection

CincoSolas_del_Bronx (Diary) Monday, January 3rd at 3:46AM EDT (link)

with anything I’ve written in over 5 years here or spoken in public or private in over 25 years since coming into the light.

There are certain political fulcra–abortion currently chief among them–for which the boundaries of the moral law, both natural and biblical, are more sharply delineated than for others. My quibble against your original remark was not to deny that conservativism can be in the right about such issues, but rather to guard against 2 biblically-unwarranted extrapolations:

1) that being on the right side of a given moral issue is any indicator that individual conservatives are therefore right with God;

2) that being on the wrong side of a given moral issue is any indicator that individual statists are therefore incapable of being right with God.

Those dreading urbanization should remember that though the Kingdom of God first appeared in a temporal Garden, at the end of the book it is established in an eternal City. (paraphrase, James M. Boice)

soli Deo gloria

Happy New Year - Letterman Palin Joke

tedpomeroy (Diary) Saturday, January 1st at 4:56PM EDT (link)

Letterman – Sarah Palin has a very successful reality show called “Sarah Palin’s Alaska”. In the show her family and friends hunt, fish and go camping.

They are very conscious of the hunting controversy concerns though,

every show they have a disclaimer at the end about “endangered species”.

It says “No Democrats were injured or killed during the taping of this program”

Was this really a Letterman joke?

earlgrey (Diary) Saturday, January 1st at 5:34PM EDT (link)

Don’t get me wrong, I love it, but I just can’t see Letterman making this joke.

I lost any respect/admiration/affinity I had for him when he made that obnoxious and uncomfortable joke about Bristol and ARod.

Yes It is a Letterman Joke

tedpomeroy (Diary) Saturday, January 1st at 5:43PM EDT (link)

He also said, Sarah goes hunting, fishing and camping

I’m not watching, I’m not watching….

But he delivered a funny one there!
