FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

Four years for this moment.

Give John Boehner that damn gavel, Nancy.

You can watch it here.

Moe Lane

PS: Amusing factoid: despite having more members in her caucus for the 112th Congress than John Boehner did for the 111th, Nancy Pelosi got one less vote for Speaker in the 112th Congress than John Boehner did in the 111th.

PPS: You can shut up any time now, Rep. Pelosi.  These are supposed to be short remarks… GOD. NO.  Not the Lily Ledbetter Act!  Nobody cares about the Lily Ledbetter Act!

PPPS: Geez, I thought that she’d never leave.

…pry it out of her claws…I mean, hands in order to give it to Boehner. Wouldn’t it be great if he tossed that one and brought in his own? LOL

Can she fillibuster the passing of the gavel ??

  • thomasalan

Turning even this into an exercise in self-congratulation.

The best TV moment I’ve seen in awhile. Now, it’s game on!

  • jaybo

That woman is a real piece of work!

I guess that you can filibuster in The House after all.

    LOL!!!

Did you notice that she HAD TO run through the checklist of (so-called) accomplishments? What was the purpose of that when she could have been brief and respectful of the moment by deferring the speeches and passing the gavel to her successor.

  • disqussted

Did he forget to reminisce about how he handed out checks from Philip Morris Co. on the House floor just prior to a vote on the tobacco industry?

  • glorybee

…that SPEAKER Boehner said nada – nice or otherwise – about Nancy & the 111th. Loved that he started to enumerate changes immediately.

  • Wes_W

“Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.”

I think that one of her friends should have whispered that quote to her before she stepped up to the mic.

When the average American watches her classless speeches and the arrogant way in which she represents her party they will remember why they do not want democrats controlling the House of Representatives.

    Thank you Nancy!!!!

  • Goldwater_Conservative

    just lost her wand

her fingernail scratches from the gavel. She didn’t want to let it go.
And her rambling…..you could tell she was talking just to drag it out.

Either that or senility has set in.

Now, its time to watch the new guys like hawks.

  • gekster

or are you just talking crap.

  • disqussted

It’s a fact, turn off your talk radio and look it up.

you would know that double posting happens sometimes with IE8.
You made the claim, give me the proof.

‘In 1995, Boehner handed out campaign checks from the tobacco industry to members on the House floor at a time when lawmakers were considering eliminating a tobacco subsidy.”

That and a lot more fun reading…

    Watch them ALL like hawks.

No matter which party’s in power, I lose.

  • pizzaguy

was that Boehner would immediately take the gavel and say “and now we are gonna blow it up!”

  • sharonmcp

is the wailing and gnashing of teeth that’s going on at DailyKos and DU.

It really is a sight to behold.

  • gekster

But what has that 15 year ago incident have to do with today.
Is he still tied to the tobacco industry.

  • LisaDe

To all at Redstate for making this an exceptionally happy day!!!! I must admit that I am on cloud nine…She is OUT.

  • disqussted

So he hasn’t been AS stupid since, good for him. The first career pol to no longer be bought-and-paid-for. Call Ripley’s!!!

  • freemanja1991

To hear give a shout out to (My) Congressman Latham.

  • grateful_red

I assume that the democratic representatives that take union campain donations recuse themselves when voting on card check???, When they vote to confirm Labor Relations Board memebers??? (oops — recess appointments don’t get votes)

Now just because “both sides” do it dosen’t make it ethical. People that live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

At least the Republican leadership isn’t guilty of tax evasion (Rangel, Waters – and a whole mess of cabinet level officials) ….

At least the Republican leadership doesn’t talk about pay-go and fiscal responsibility while increasing the debt 5 trillion $….

    …”no class.”

  • grateful_red

When you walk into someone else’s house for the fist time do you always start peeing on the furniture to mark your territory?

    1. Double posts happen in IE8

    2. I know its a fact, I don’t have to look it up because it’s the ONLY criticism that the talking heads have about Mr. B. — I’ve heard it soooo many times….. Is that seriously all you got ?!?

    3. As far as Mr. B getting LEGAL, disclosed campain donations from LEGAL tobacco companies….

I’m much more concerned about Nancy’s unfounded/unsubstantiated claim that the military lied to her in security breifings.
I’m much more concerned about Nancy’s “we have to pass it to find out what’s in it” moments of sheer verbal lunacy.
I’m much more concerned about Nancy’s backroom deals and bills written in secret.
I’m much more concerned about Nancy’s support of cap and tax that would kill the economy.
I’m much more concerned about Nancy’s total and utter lack of business experience that gives her no frame of refrence of what it is like to have to meet a payroll.

In my estimation a potted plant as speaker of the house would be better than Nancy Pelosi.

  • sarg01

All it does is change the statute of limitations on pay discrimination cases. Oooh, major accomplishment there.

You think with all the leftie junk they got away with they’d be talking about that. I suppose it makes sense, though, all that stuff costs them support.

  • disqussted

Um, did you see me say earlier??no matter which party?s in power, I lose?? I’ll hazard a guess and say that we’re different in that I don’t think EVERY problem this country has ever faced is always and everywhere caused by those evil liberals, and only those evil liberals.

  • blogan2

the first bill Obama signed 2 days after being passed showing that his promise to post bills online for 5 days before signing them was a complete lie that couldn’t even stand up to the first bill.

I’ve had a big smile all day just knowing that this time has finally come. Hoo ray for America!
(and I liked what I heard from the new repubs last night on Hannity)

snatch that gavel, use it on her head, give her 2 tight slaps and then deliver a powerful kick in the butt. Very dumb and tasteless witch.

  • america1st

Although, I was hoping the Speaker, Mr. Boehner, would yank the gavel from her claws and smack her in the mouth. I’ve heard far too much from that shrill, shrewish harpy, and that was before she befouled the position of Speaker in 2007.
