FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

Prediction: Clarence Dupnik will lose his next election.

Via Ace of Spades and Mediate, here’s is Tuscon Sheriff Dupnik’s… sub-optimal… interview with Megyn Kelly. Pay close attention to his commentary at about 5:15, where he implicitly blames the attempted assassination of Congresswoman Giffords on the Chinese.

…when millions of dollars are filtered into this country to buy very vitriolic ads, and they don’t have to identified, the countries that they’re coming from or the people who are donating them…

As has been mentioned lately, this particular line of conspiracy theory nonsense is endemic among the progressive Left, as illustrated by Ms. Carol Shea-Porter: but that’s not exactly the same (as also illustrated by Ms. Shea-Porter) as “a proven election winner.” Quite the opposite, in fact: as Dupnik will no doubt discover next year. If the Arizona GOP can’t make a case for replacing a man in his late seventies who threatened to taint a critical federal murder case through hasty partisan – and, frankly, somewhat paranoid – speculation, then they might as well give up now.

Moe Lane (crosspost)

PS: Ms. Kelly took this guy apart without raising her voice, and the best part is that Dupnik won’t realize just how badly he flubbed this until the first campaign commercials run. Perhaps he’ll blame it all on the Belgians? – It’s been a while since they had a turn.

PPS: Please, by all means: the Left should give him money.

cause it sure sounds like it.

says what I have been hearing for the past two years–that those of us who disagree with him or this administration (those who don’t want better for the country according to him) are traitors and likely to incite delusional people to commit crimes.

  • swami7774

    What a shameless hack.

  • http://Blackberrybear.etsy.com knitwit

the bully pulpit as the incumbent…I think this will give his challenger ample material to put him down the next time around, as long as the potential challenger is a viable (i.e. not corrupt and an upstanding citizen) candidate. There was a load of dirt thrown on both sides that muddied the issues; won’t be a problem next election, I suspect.

  • gumbeaux

Is Sheriff Dupnck one of Barney Fife’s relatives? Come on, you can tell me. I can handle it, really!

  • bobmontgomery

The sheriff said it would be irresponsible …not to try to put a stop to it…..(what he deems inflammatory rhetoric) , and that free speech is free speech but it is ….not without consequences. Apparently he took Obama’s admonition for people to “not do too much talking” as a law that needed to be enforced.

  • E Pluribus Unum

Instead, he blamed Limbaugh and the Chinese.

  • freemanja1991

She is so good at tearing people up. Wish she would do it more. And do these libs have any shame.

  • http://www.redstate.com/tnjim TNJim

he has no evidence (yet) that “fiery rhetoric” motivated Loughner, yet he sticks to the meme anyway. Yeah, this guy needs to be voted out, for the good of Pima County. It makes me afraid he will do his best to “make sure” such evidence exists.

  • walter_hanson

I will love to see the guy lose, but if Giffords is healthy enough to run for reelection she will generate a lot of sympathy vote with can benefit the sheriff.

NBC news tonight (January 9th) at 6:30 E.S.T. carried his comment on “radical” political views being a cause of the lunatic’s shooting spree.

A lunatic needs nothing but the voices in his head to set him off.

NBC continued to intersplice Dupnik’s comment with a scene from a “tea partier” shouting at a politician at a town-hall meeting. Note how that becomes equivalent to a lunatic spraying a crowd with bullets.

Then it described the lunatic as influenced by “far-right-wing” philosophy, probably a reference to “Mein Kampf” being listed by the lunatic: no mention of course that MARX was on his list as well!!!

Lunatics are not consistent, because they are lunatics: only moron media people make them seem logical and would describe them with a rational set of dominoes falling according to sensible laws.

But then, the truth is irrelevant when you are trying to sell a political lie.

  • chbroussard

…I’ve seen Megyn Kelly put a noose around someone’s neck without them even realiizng they are being hanged. She was quite skillful in making the sheriff look like an idiot. Of course, he was a pretty easy target.

  • carolina

That he just had opinions. It was beautiful!

  • aesthete

strikes again. The extent to which elements of the left will go to blame everyone but the person actually holding the gun is astounding.

  • Doc Holliday

he sad that “one party is blocking another party that is trying to make this a better country”. This guy is a nut and should not be a Sheriff. Does he even send his cops when Republicans call 911?

  • fgoodwin

Regardless of his political views, I’m shocked that a law enforcement officer would discuss details of the investigation (like the contents of the letter) given that this IS an ongoing investigation.

  • Doc Holliday

so that would not work. I think she should run against this tool for Sheriff. She is pro Second Amendment and wants immigration security.

oh crap, now the jerk sheriff is on with Jerry Rivers, he will be allowed to spout more vitriol at half of America.

  • JadedByPolitics

looked to my son and said “good God he is blaming the Chinese money conspiracy crap again”.

How absolutely INSANE are these Democrats to think for one moment the Chinese Government would want strong NeoCon Conservatives running the Government of the United States of America? I mean seriously, they love how weak on National Defense we are under the Democrats/.

  • Next93

I can’t really speak to Hitler’s political thinking at the time he wrote Mein Kampf, since I’ve never been able to bring myself to read it, but the economic and social policies he put in place for the Nazi (“National Socialist”) party, stripped of the anti-semitic noise, was pretty similar to the Democratic Party platform (stripped of it’s anti-Israel noise). Universal health care, universal education, a business/union/corporate toika running the country for “the good of the people”. Oh, and a cult of personality.

    Just sayin…

  • Next93

Being accused by Marxists of being economically irresponsible is like getting kicked out the Klan military arm of the Democratic Party for being ignorant, but that seems to be the way the Chinese feel about the current leadership of the Democratic party. I guess things like “social justice” look a lot different when you’re dealing with a country that owes you billions of dollars.

  • pizzaguy

and he is going after Palin and Angle! Someone should link his comments with all of the elected officials (Clyburn and others come to mind) that have gone on the record supporting this nut. Someone can make a mint scripting 2012 political ads!

  • daendda

    might be Buford T. Justice!

  • http://908StraightSt.wordpress.com/ mbecker908

His last election was 2008 and he won 65/35. I don’t expect he’ll be losing any time soon. His comments fit pretty well with the people of Pima County (Tucson), that’s where the UofA is and it’s the home of liberal non-thought in Arizona.

  • Ausonius

It has been traditional to call Nazis/Fascists “right-wing” while Communists/Socialist are “left-wing.”

This has been done mainly because of the “nationalism” associated with Fascism versus the “internationalism” of Communist revolutionary theory.

In practice, the Communists have been just as nationalistic as their supposed extreme opposites: check out the agitprop of Stalin during the war, or of Mao’s China, or of North Korea right now.

As an example of where Stalin shakes hands with Hitler:

The Star, Tucson’s only mainstream newspaper, is strongly Democratic. It wouldn’t surprise me if it gives Dupnik kid glove treatment here.

  • http://phxg.wordpress.com/ phxg

Sure, he’s as crazy as a bed bug, but Tucson is an enclave of liberals in AZ. I have already heard from people I know that agree with his stance on the the “rhetoric” being the inciting event.

Like Arpaio in Maricopa County, Dupnik is safe in Pima County.

  • bobmontgomery

….”symbols” to be the subject of legislation proposed by a PA Democrat, according to Politico, That is “perceived” threatening language and ‘symbols’. This in addition to the customary “gun control” legislation to be offered by Carolyn McCarthy, et al.

  • proof_positive

“When people, allegedly credible people who get up in front of cameras and microphones and say things that are not true and try to inflame the public…”

Oh. You mean like a County Sheriff at a press conference, speculating about things he doesn’t know are true, but presenting opinions as though they were fact, casting aspersions anyway?

  • http://908StraightSt.wordpress.com/ mbecker908

    probably 2:1 in Pima County.

  • http://908StraightSt.wordpress.com/ mbecker908

They’ll nominate him for a Nobel Peace Prize. And he’ll probably win it. And the Star will likely get a Pulitzer for their reporting of the expose of the Tea Party.

    And, unfortunately, I’m not joking.

  • E Pluribus Unum

Merriam-Webster is going to have to make an adjustment. I usually roll with those guys.

  • gekster

What will the lefty blog sites have then.
    Chicken recipeis?

  • pragmatic

songs, not the vitriol on the radio and tv, made him go out and gun down those people. Oh wait, that’s already been tried to excuse personal accountability. Just another example of behavior that has to be justified, heaven forbid this nut should be accountable for his own actions.

A point my wife brought up after watching sheriff/commentator/political pundit, “He’s making the defense lawyers’ job much easier”.

Our family’s thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this horrific act.

  • GoldieAZ50

Corporations with bases in other countries however can make political donations now to US political campaigns.

As a resident of Tucson, I will continue to vote for Sheriff Dupnik as long as he continues to want the position.

  • gekster

I suppose you believe that right wing radio talk shows incited this guy, also.
Thats what the Sherif you support says.

  • AceInTX

when the left was calling Bush Hitler and chanting “Bush Lied People Died”?

  • spainishirish

They no longer are arbiters of anything, let alone “proper” speech after their Bush/Hitler heyday.

  • FranklinMews

we need to target him this november! lets lock and load!

  • daendda

lack of individuals taking responsibility for their actions, law enforcement officers making political speeches during active investigations, opining for tragedies to take advantage of in the press, and gutting not only the 2nd but also the 1st Amendments. I’m I missing anything?

  • http://moelane.com/ Moe Lane

Please do not make the mistake of thinking that I am stupid; or that I am obligated to pretend that Dupnik was not trying to tap into that vein of Lefty paranoia that the Democrats threw up in the last few weeks of the election as a last-ditch attempt to avoid getting shellacked.

We clear on that? Good. Don’t ever defend a hatemongering fool like Dupnik on this site again.

  • http://moelane.com/ Moe Lane

    …third seat from the left.

  • gekster
  • daendda

You really don’t like political speech that isn’t left wing do you? Your claim is absurdly false. It is still illegal to take contributions from foreign donors. But Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission did allow Americans to incorperate and donate their money to causes they see fit under the 1st Amendment. How come it’s the crazy libs that always want to take away our political speech? So this begs the question…what are you doing here?

The America he grew up in “politicians forgot about their idealogies and worked together to do what is right for the country”

Now “there is one party that tries to block the attempts of the other party to make this a better country”

Just wondering how dumb this guy is…..

  • http://908StraightSt.wordpress.com/ mbecker908

I never cease to be amazed at how “political” the office of County Sheriff is all over Arizona. I don’t know that it’s that way in any other state I’ve lived in (CA, MA, NH, DE, PA, NM, CO). And you’re absolutely right, phxg, they’re all crazy as bed bugs.

  • proudmarinemom

who has to prosecute this case must be ready to take Sheriff Dupnik to the woodshed. As our colleague, pragmatic pointed out above, the defense is getting a great deal of help from this law enforcement officer’s obvious philosophical bias.

It is NOT the duty of a Sheriff to speculate as to motive. The investigation should be focused on gathering facts and let the D.A. work on demonstrating motive.

The trial of Jared Loughner is now in jeopardy, thanks to this foolish Sheriff.

  • america1st

Megyn has remained a broadcast journalist. With her looks and subtle thespian talents, she could have been an Oscar-winning actress. The stuttering, obsequious introduction, the “dumb blond” enticement and deference . . . then “Ka-BOOM” – the trap is sprung. That was masterful.

  • victrola

He really smeared the whole state of AZ, and it’s incredibly unprofessional for someone in law enforcement to run to a podium in a tragedy like this to make political points.

My real fear is the MSM will get a huge boost to their narrative because of people like Dupnik.

Let’s not forget that many people still think a John Bircher right-winger killed JFK (even though it was actually a Communist)

  • steve010

Not one of these journalists even asked the Sheriff, if any of his officers were at the event to PROTECT and SERVE the public. Every town hall that I’ve been to locally, there has been more than one officer present, even if the representative didn’t request the help. Where were the Sheriff’s deputies? At the donut shop? Obviously, this Sheriff felt that a sitting member of Congress and a Federal Judge were safe and didn’t need him to PROTECT and SERVE.

  • edintexas

I heard on the radio this clown is 75 years old, and they still elect him as the Chief Law Enforcement person in the county? I highly doubt he could qualify with the issue firearm, much less complete the annual PT test. Both of which I’ll bet are required for his Deputies (heck after 50 I had enough trouble with the 1 mile run on the annual PT test, I know I couldn’t do it now).

  • http://908StraightSt.wordpress.com/ mbecker908

Just like Joe Arpaio in Maricopa County who is about the same age and even crazier.

  • eburke

as “Suburban Berkley”. I’m guessing nothing’s changed.

  • eburke

you’ll see that it’s 11 “0′s”, an “s” at the end, and the noun “jooooooooooos” must always be preceded by the adjective “eeeeevil”, 5 “e’s”, no more, no less.

If you haven’t gotten the latest edition of the A.S.S. I relatively certain you can pick one up at the White House.

  • GoldieAZ50

Which was absolutely perfect and just what we needed here, I will vote for him as well.

Mom also watched his speech, she thinks President Obama has down a far better job than ever imagined, thought the speech was perfect. 2012 will be the first time in her life she votes in a Presidential election for the Democrat, 2010 was the first time she did so in a midterm.

So congrats to you all, especially the teaparty people. Unlike Reagan you don’t want any moderate Republicans, so you just got two to join the Democratic Party in Tucson AZ.

I am not here often, I can see why, feel free to revoke my membership…no loss…in fact, a great gain.
