Sgt. Sal Giunta to retire[*]…

…for those who need their memory jogged, Staff Sergeant Sal Giunta received the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions in Afghanistan; he’s the first living recipient of the MoH since the Vietnam War. And apropos of absolutely nothing, if I’m reading his biography right Sgt. Giunta is from Iowa’s Second Congressional district, which is Dave Loebsack’s.  Loebsack is a three-termer who came pretty close to losing in 2010; it’s a D+7 district, but Iowa’s going to be a lot less Democratic-friendly in 2012 than it was in 2008.

Just saying, that’s all.  No rush; Sgt Giunta reportedly wants to get some more education in before he decides what to do with the rest of his life (and believe me, there are a lot of people out there willing to help MoH recipients with that particular life decision)…

Moe Lane (crosspost)

[* Wrong term: he's 'separating at the end of his enlistment.' My bad.]

S/Sgt Sal Guinta knows that, as a MoH recipient, he will no longer be completely free to act as a good NCO would wish. The Army has other plans than to let him run a squad or platoon. It is better for him to move on. I wish him the best of everything. I also left the Army as a S/Sgt for different reasons but, if he gets good advice and a good education, he should do well.

Move Giunta to that Congressional District and run him has a Republican. Would work for most any seat (except Pelosi’s for sure.)

I would refer you to the Des Moines Register. He wants to move to Colorado. Go to School for either Natural Resource Management or Business (At Colorado State). Plus are we sure he is even a Republican? And redistricting may make that seat worse. Chances are Loebsack will face Braley in a Primary and it will be D+10 or worse. Containing Linn, Johnson, Blackhawk, Clinton, Dubuque, and Jackson Counties.

The Medal of Honor might as well be a scarlet letter in San Fran. Not sure why someone of his stature would lower himself to become a congressman in any district, anyway, but if he decides to run, I live in VA-08 (Jim Moron)…just saying. Wish him luck in whatever he ends up doing.

I thank him immensely for his service. We truly owe our freedom to our military.

But when it comes to politics and principles, let us not confuse battlefield bravery with conservative principles. There is this well decorated Vietnam vet from AZ who often makes my conservative blood boil….

SSG is the acronym for E-6 level Staff Sergeant in the United States ARMY. SGT is the acronym for the lower grade E-5 Sergeant.

As a Medal of Honor recipient, SSG Giunta has more than earned & exemplified his higher rank.

Hooah! SSG Giunta & may God bless him in all of his future endeavors for his remarkable sacrifices, incredible bravery & true showing of honor to the men & women who wear the uniform.

Of course, my iPod would be an improvement over Rep. Moron (D-JewHater).
