FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

CPAC 2011: Chris Barron.

Yes. That Chris Barron.

Probably one of the trickier interviews I’ll be doing this weekend (I should end up with a bunch, if today was any indication).

We all know you normally fill a certain role with these interviews, but it was good that you were able to shift gears.

    Great job Moe.

gotten GOProud banned from next year’s CPAC?

New CPAC chief: We might have to dump GOProud for taunting the boycotters

    1) Speakers/presenters – Obviously they have to be invited to do that.
    2) Sponsors – ACU might approach some groups or some groups might approach ACU, but presumably someone at ACU filters out the list of people to be considered sponsors.
    3) Vendors – Can anyone get a booth who applies, pays the fee, etc.? I wouldn’t think it’s by invitation, though perhaps there is screening of applications and some are rejected for whatever reason (no more space, not suitable for CPAC, etc.)
    4) Individual attendees – I doubt the 12,000 attendees are some subset of people who were invited, so presumably any individual can attend who wants to.
    5) Group attendees – Does everyone attend as an individual regardless of what group they are associated with or do certain groups get blocks of entries?

The reason I ask all this is because I wonder what it means to say that some group might not be invited.

nothing but excuses…and then he closes by accusing Heritage and other groups of “Undermining” CPAC

So….choosing not to participate in an organization that is increasingly taking positions hostile to your point of view is “Undermining” said organization?

So MR. Barron…how exactly ARE we going to remain as united as were were in 2010? By demanding we don’t chase social issues down rabbit holes and accusing longstanding member of the movement of “undermining” the movement?

I don’t see anything new or redeeming here.

in public and in private…and he gets it… BIG TIME PARTY FOUL!

At this point he’s doing damage control, he’s hoping its enough to keep GOProud from being banned in next years CPAC… he’s hoping that he didn’t burn every bridge they’ve built in goodwill with fellow republicans.

We’ll see if GOProud’s actions are louder than Barron’s words when it comes to defeating the enemy in the FiCon and DefCon arenas. As well as fighting in the abortion debate under the SoCon arena.

    I won’t hold my breath.

…are a political loser, even in liberal states like California. I really don’t see what the GOP has to gain by embracing them.

If gay marriage advocates want to start their own conference–for fiscal conservatives who agree with them–why don’t they? Why do they feel compelled to commit political suicide by attempting to hijack a conservative event?

Social conservatives are the core of the GOP. Most social liberals love the nanny state and aren’t going to vote GOP any time soon. The fiscal conservative/social liberal combination is never going to get anything more than Libertarian Party numbers–not exactly a brilliant strategy for the GOP.
