WI Dems made a PREGNANT WOMAN hide?

I just found out about this from Fox Nation (via Hot Air), as part of a breaking story that possibly the hiding Wisconsin state senators are starting to crack under the strain of not doing the jobs that they were elected to do:

State Sen. Julie Lassa (D) is pregnant and “extremely unhappy” about being on the run.

Those twisted, sadistic FREAKS in the Wisconsin Democratic party really and truly made a woman with child go into interstate exile for two weeks?  So that union bosses could keep unlimited access to funds to fuel their politician (and other prostitutes) habit?  That is sick.  That is disgusting.

But, you know… that is pretty typical for the Democratic party leadership, too.  Heck, we should probably be grateful that they didn’t drop Sen. Lassa off at a Planned Parenthood clinic, complete with a meaningful look.

we should probably be grateful that they didn?t drop Sen. Lassa off at a Planned Parenthood clinic, complete with a meaningful look.

Yes, another child that has become economically inconvenient.

  • gkendall

Really? I know there are thugs and worse among this ilk, but . . . .
She’s “unhappy” about hiding out with her fellow travelers? If she’s that unhappy, then why doesn’t she come home?? And where is her husband? If he’s not in a test tube, then . . .

Time will tell. If she reveals that she was truly held hostage — or threatened with her job, etc — or her family — or her life — then she should speak out honestly when she DOES GET BACK. If you don’t hear anything, then it was just another drive-by piece of drivel passing as news.

  • hardlyconservative

she must be incapable of making her own decisions. The patriarchy is holding her hostage, right before they take her over for that forced abortion.

What’s that? She’s staying out of state on her own accord? No one is keeping her from going home besides herself? Oh!, ok. So this is just ginned up false outrage. Got it.

  • Adjoran

If she isn’t locked up, she could go home at any time.

She has no one to blame but herself, and if she harms her child in the process as well, it is all on her head.

If she doesn’t go back to Madison to do her job TODAY, it will cost the state $165 million in lost savings from refinancing debt THIS YEAR. How many other pregnant workers will have to be laid off to pay homage to these union thugs and their feckless toadies?

No sympathy and no respect for any of them. They are a disgrace to humanity.

  • Goldwater_Conservative

getting a little home sick. “there is no place like home, there is no place like home”

  • powertothepeople

as you are too dense to understand snark and even more incompetent at using it.

  • hardlyconservative

as all you can do is resort to ad hominem attacks, just like Moe. If you can’t discredit the message, aim for the messenger, right?

  • powertothepeople

the definition of Ad hominem prior to trying to appear intelligent by using the word. And in order to worry about aiming for the messenger, they would need to have a valid argument with no holes. You failed in that endeavor pitifully.

And yes, I am a conservative, the last vestige of a true American.

  • hardlyconservative

with the term and how often it’s used by some as a crutch to attempt to discredit a valid argument. But since you seem to have the inside line on some other “secret” meaning for the term I’d sure be interested to hear your opinion on what that is.

As for a true american, I love my country just as much as you do. But let’s hope you’re right about that last vestige thing. The kind of virulent hate espoused by modern radical conservatives truly ought to go extinct.

The column states she has two young children and the baby is due this spring. Given a due date sometime in April–June, she’s well along. The further advanced the pregnancy, then the more often the doctors usually want to see the mother.

She’s put her politics above the welfare of her children at home–who are surely missing their mother–and her unborn child. If she’s unhappy, then go home. If she’s being coerced, then she needs to shout it from the rooftops.

As a mother myself, I don’t have much sympathy to spare. I wouldn’t have done anything like this to make my children’s life difficult or add physical stress to a pregnancy.

According to the liberals, we need to keep abortion safe, legal and (chuckle) “rare” because every pregnant woman is a victim of a penis-bearing fascist (also known as “a man”). It’s simply not possible for a woman to attend college, or even high school, while she’s pregnant. And never mind holding down a job (at $.014 for every dollar a man makes, or whatever the current fantasystudy indicates), because, well, George Bush.

It all makes perfect sense, if you’re steeped well enough in the bullcr@p deep thinking of the liberal world.

So get with the picture, you knuckle dragging, hate-filled “vestige”.

    Sheesh.

  • http://moelane.com/ Moe Lane

An ad hominem attack is when you declare somebody’s position is false because they’re a horrible person: for example, “Wisconsin Democrats are wrong about collective bargaining reform because they’re making a pregnant woman hide for a week and a half*.” What I did in the post was to show sheer elemental revulsion : or, “Wisconsin Democrats are total scum-sucking poltroons because they made a pregnant woman hide for a week and a half.” I understand that the Internet has a problem with grasping that distinction, but we strive for a higher standard here at RedState.

    Moe Lane

PS: In case it wasn’t obvious, by the way: Blam.

*I’m imagining my wife’s likely response to such a suggestion, at any point during either of her pregnancies. It would have been a memorable response, and probably one that would have resulted in my suffering at least mild tissue trauma. I think that we can at least *speculate* that coercion was involved, yes? Yes.

  • conservativemusician

It DOES appear like she is being held against her will to me. That’s the whole point of the diary, which you have conveniently ignored with your snark. Moe is right in that this action exposes just how low the Dems will sink in order to accomplish their socialistic goals, including keeping a pregnant woman away from a key vote that Wisconsin voters overwhelmingly supported in their last election.

If the GOP in Wisconsin were doing this (and I submit that this type of stunt would never even cross their minds in the first place), you’d be screaming bloody murder. Therefore, if you are not willing to see Democratic hypocrisy for what it is, then please go elsewhere to the liberal sites to vent. We simply don’t have time here for this type of nonsense as we have a country to reclaim – starting in states like Wisconsin.

I’m a mom, and the Fox Nation column made my blood boil. If she’s unhappy, then she needs to stop being a sheep and go home.

  • Next93

The “hate filled vestige” known as Sarah Palin put her political career in jeopardy to bring her own child to term and to support her teenage daughter in her pregnancy.

By contrast, this Heroine of the People’s Revolution has put her unborn child at risk, and abandoned her children at home, in order to thwart the democratic process that she’s sworn to uphold, because she feels it’s wrong to end the process of public emplyoee union votes being purchased with taxpayer money.

I’m *really* glad I got over the liberalism of my youth.

  • Aaron Gardner

Oh, yeah, that’s your side spewing the virulent hate.

  • http://kindlingforcandles.wordpress.com/ INC

then it’s kidnapping across state lines, and the FBI should be involved.

How did Fox Nation learn she is unhappy? She’s obviously talking to someone on the phone. Can she not also tell someone where she is and ask to be rescued?

  • http://moelane.com/ Moe Lane

It’s very possible that they conned her and the other Senators into thinking that this was only going to be a symbolic gesture, and once you’re in a bad situation it’s sometimes hard to get out of it.

  • Next93

*liberal* women know all there is to know. They’re born managers, smarter than all men stupid (read “conservative”) women. And, of course, liberal MEN, having been completely drained of all male instincts, are basically liberal women with the plumbing on the outside.

So you see, it’s not liberal (wo)men who are sheep, it’s all of the foolish “little people” who simply don’t understand how opressed they are.

That’s why the liberals MUST be given the authority to control every aspect of our lives – they’re just too smart to NOT be running the world!

  • http://kindlingforcandles.wordpress.com/ INC

would drive me to get out of a bad situation no matter the political or prestige cost to myself.

If the situation is bad enough she feels endangered, then she needs to tell that to Fox Nation and state she needs security protection from her fellow Democrats.

  • http://kindlingforcandles.wordpress.com/ INC

    political posturing.

If he’d been acting like a democrat, he’d have tracked down your IP address, checked your driving and employment records, publicized every ticket you’ve ever gotten, and then threataned your employer with massive demonstrations for the temerity of doing business with someone he disagreed with.

That seems to be the way the Dems roll these days, never actually address someone’s position, but rather go after the funding. What was it Alinsky said? Isolate, demonize, and humiliate?

Maybe if you people tried actually engaging in intelligent argument, rather than hiding behind the “hate filled” rhetoric, you might be taken seriously.

And as long as we’re talking about hate, which party was it again that operated a terrorist wing known as the KKK for several generations?

  • artist4freedom

why these dems still have jobs? Most Americans would be fired if they left their jobs indefinitely.

  • aesthete

This woman has no one to blame but herself for her discomfort: she can go home at any time. That said, pressuring a pregnant woman to go on the run against her better instincts to subvert democratic and legal processes* is a douche move.

*Insert disclaimer about fully supporting minority party powers to block legislation and the like through legal and customary avenues, such as the filibuster.

  • aesthete

And you know that the spin will be, “Oh, look at those eeevul Republicans, forcing a woman to choose between having her child* and sticking to her principles!! So much for their pro-life principles!! [Insert OutrageousOutrage? about how Republicans hate women, children, blacks, and probably The Beatles.]”

*Normally they’d call it a “fetus” or, when they’re feeling punchy, “medical waste”, but it’s a talking point.

  • catt

If she feels endangered or is being held against her will then it’s an FBI matter. That would make for some headlines for sure.

Otherwise … she’s just unhappy. Because of a choice she made. Boo hoo. She can choose to stay in hiding or return home or resign her position. The point of the article was to say that she and a few other Democrats seem to be weakening and the standoff may be close to an end.

However there’s NO evidence that she’s endangering her unborn kid. Whatever prenatal care she needs is undoubtedly within easy access. Emergency care too. She can consult her own doctor by phone and see another highly qualified doctor in whatever city she’s in. Liberal bloggers criticized Palin for traveling thousands of miles back to her home town after her water broke. They criticized her for traveling to give speeches in the first place while in a late stage of pregnancy.

Guess what? Those were HER choices made in consultation with HER doctor. Nobody is in a position to second guess that. She was in contact with her own doctor by phone. She was never far from emergency care even if it wasn’t her own personal doctor.

The more powerful the role a woman has the more difficult the decisions she may be faced with when it comes to balancing the responsibilities of her job and the responsibilities to her kids. Even women who in very un-powerful jobs often have to make difficult decisions about being away from their kids at times or traveling while pregnant and so on. Let’s respect that and let THEM and THEIR FAMILIES and THEIR DOCTORS make those decisions.

  • powertothepeople

as a rule, all of these folks are elected which separates them from your average employee. Since they were elected, to “fire” them, you have to go back to the people who elected them. They do have recall in the state, but even that still takes time. It needs to be done, but some of these folks are in liberal strongholds hence no recall will happen.

We just have to remember the crap they have pulled, remember the repubs who gave in to the veiled threat, and then work to “fire” them in 2012. But for now not much anyone can do even if they pull this crap again.

  • earlgrey

I remember seeing a car covered with bumper stickers for Liberal causes and I remember two in particular

“Hatred is not a family value”
“The road to hell is paved with republicans”

You see those are self contradictory. The left takes the liberty of defining hatred to be whatever they want it to be. Mere disagreements are hatred. Having the wrong political viewpoint means you are hateful, a racist, a bigot.

    We got it.

The problem I have is for all the years I have heard about the hatred on the Right I can’t recall any. Statistics tell me that there have to be some people on the right that are mean and hateful, but I can’t think of any particular instances..

Meanwhile, I have had a front row seat to hatred from the left, that is now turning to violence. What is most chilling is that most of the people on the left are either turning away and ignoring the violence, or reveling in it and enjoying watching conservatives get smacked around. For years the left has assumed that they have the moral high ground, and yet they can’t even see the hatred even when they are a part of it.

People that claim to be Christians but act in corrupt or evil ways, are mocked as they go sit in the church on Sunday as if that absolves them of their sins. It does not. Neither is the left absolved from supporting and ignoring the hatred on their side.

In regard to the fugitive senators’ mounting living costs, I have been assured by a very knowing Democrat of my acquaintance in Madison that an unborn infant is, in the third trimester a most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled; and I make no doubt that it will equally serve in a fricassee or a ragout.

  • voltron

I think that was rather uncalled for. And revolting.

  • conservativemusician

I don’t think she’s being held in the way that would require FBI involvement. She’s really between a rock and a hard place. If she goes home because of the pregnancy, she will appear disloyal to the Dem party and will be hounded by the press and pressured by the GOP to report back to work. She doesn’t want that kind of attention, so she’ll just stay there and whine to FoxNews and anyone else who will listen. It’s about all libs know how to do anyway – gripe and complain and play on the sympathies of the gullible in our society.

I’m having a hard time feeling empathy for her because she knew what she was getting into as a member of the Wisconsin Senate. The HotAir story Moe linked to doesn’t specifically state that the reason for her unhappiness is due to her pregnancy, but I’m sure this is a significant contributing factor in her mood as well as being away from her family. If she really is so concerned about her pregnancy, then shouldn’t she come home for the good of her unborn child and let the chips fall where they may politically? After all, aren’t libs always telling us how we mean, rascally Republicans don’t care about the CHILDREN?

If anything, the libs look heartless in this whole thing, which is the major point of the diary as I see it. Hope this clarifies things a bit better.

On the assumption that the report is true . . .

I hope her children are safe and her baby is safe and that nothing bad happens to them. She brought it all on herself though; and she deserves no sympathy. She’s voluntarily put her baby at risk (of bad hotel food at a minimum; & possibly a lot of unnecessary stress); she’s abandoned her children at home; abandoned her husband; she calls herself a “democrat” but refuses to participate in “democracy” (you know, particpating in hearings, debating, voting — what she was elected to do); she refuses to participate in the sytem that she swore to uphold.

She’s also a sore loser, a cry-baby: she thinks her party should win even when they’ve lost — and they lost huge in the last election. She feels it?s right to steal money from the taxpayers in order to rain it on her union buddies who turn around and vote for her & her hack-friends & make campaign contributions to them! She thinks it’s wrong to end that process. . . . And since she’s complaining about what she agreed to do — she’s a whiner; and she’s a spineless jellyfish, having let herself get talked into this by the other thirteen [what do we call these former "democrats"?] in the first place.

What’s next SEN-A-TOR Julie-poo if hiding under the Motel-6 bed doesn’t work? How will you get your way if not through the system? there’s only one answer historically: Lenin’s answer, of union violence, thugs with brass knuckles, anarchy, revolution.

All in all, she’s a confused, twisted sick person. Pity her kids & baby & hope they come out ok.

  • Return to Revolution

How many videos explicitly showing leftist hatred and violenc do we need? This is the latest in a long, distinguished line.

Also, don’t forget the other side: after millions of teaparty members rallied across the country over two years, not a single analagous video. Such a lack of any evidence that MSNBC even made up a story about the racist teaparty by using video of a black man holding a gun, then concealing his identity (h/t Moe).

Each senator was elected, based on his or her campaign promises and positions, and for his/her presumed leadership abilities, not as part of a crowd, or group or mob to “follow-the-(Party)-leader.

Each individual senator is responsible for his or her own actions, whether hiding out as a flee-bagger, or returning to Madison to do the job they were hired by Wisconsin voters to do.
