Syria firing on funerals/protests.

The line between the two can get blurry in the Middle East, but it’s being reported that the Assad regime have escalating what has been a steadily-deteriorating situations in Syria.  The death toll from yesterday is… well, Syria is keeping foreign reporters out, which makes getting an accurate count correct; but what is getting out is consistent with the Syrians using lethal means to enforce a crackdown.

Meanwhile, we’re issuing stern statements.  One half of Hot Air – reasonably enough – asks what else the Obama administration could be doing right now; the other half of Hot Air – also reasonably enough – comments that one thing that we could be doing would be to at least suggest that the Assad regime should relinquish power.  I mean, when a dictator’s firing on his own people already, just how much more upset and repressive is he likely to get if the USA formally calls for his ouster?

To finish up: aside from the running sore that is the Ahmadinejad regime in Iran, watching Middle Eastern dictatorships daring to openly shoot on protesters and demonstrators is something that we haven’t seen for a while.  In fact, for most of the decade we hadn’t heard a peep out of some of these regimes; it was almost as if they were scared of something…

Oh.  Right.  They were scared of something.

Us.

I don’t think that they’re scared anymore.

. . .that the American Presidency is not a thing with which to experiment or make social statements, but rather a deadly serious choice which can cost the lives of innocent people around the world, if made in a wrongheaded manner?

Maybe. But I won’t hold my breath.

Good choice on not holding breath.

They killed tens of thousands of people to get several decades of stability… this will likely escalate to that as well because at the end of the day it doesn’t matter what we say as much as the ability of the dictators to hang on to power goes.

Libya is a sad thing to pull on everyone involved. The O (and others involved) are trying to do things with the least amount of pain to them and setting it up for a long term cancer fight when it should be a single swift massive military operation to get rid of Col Q. We may indeed be setting up the next war by aiding the rebels because if they win we have no guarantee they will not become the next Iran or Taliban type of state and if they don’t win then the West will be humiliated in front of a dictator who may not be so humbled by the incompetence on display by the Western powers and quite ticked off…

Can you imagine how much the press would have been all over Bush and Rice had she said something as stupid as Hillary did? And would STILL be all over them?

so Obama will not condemn Assad. The enemies of America and Israel are his friends.

Libya had been on the sidelines in recent years, having taken itself out of the game when it appeared, at the time of the Iraq invasion, that America wasn’t going to take any more crap from the muslim barbarians. Egypt was an overt American ally, so both of those regimes merited condemnation.

A message to all dictators: to keep Obama on your side, be sure to keep killing Americans and Jews.

The new UN/US mandate: protect the protesters of Dictator Regimes from getting themselves killed, unless the Dictator Regimes happen to be aligned with Iran and/or controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood. Iran moves to take over Islamic Dictator Middle East and North African Dictatorships opposing Iranian control and gets the help of the UN and US. Proof: Egypt opposed to Iran-US and UN pronounce Mubarak must go. Libya opposed to Iran-US and UN pronounce Gaddafi must go. Many others. Syria aligned with Iran-US and UN pronounce Assad a great democratic benevolent leader under attack. Same for Yemen’s leader. Many others. Iranian protesters opposing the Iranian Islamic Regime; UN and US dawdle and hide. Hamas, Iran’s useful idiots bordering Israel backed and supported by UN and US lies. Hezbollah, Iran’s goons, now have control of Lebanon’s government, backed and supported by UN and US lies.

Wake the heck up people; the present US Leadership is in bed with Iran and their UN sycophants. Even the blind should be able to see this overwhelmingly obvious truth–if you are a Dictatorial Regime against Iranian control, the US wants you gone; if you are a Dictatorial Regime supporting/facilitating Iranian control, the US will support/facilitate you.
