Harry Reid’s unconstitutional oil bill.

To quote Ace of Spades: splitting atoms... WITH HIS MIND!!!!!

You know, when you can’t even get Talking Points Memolook at the name, people – to sign off on your own side’s bill, you have a problem.  In this particular case: in his haste to throw up (use of term deliberate, of course) some sort of pseudo-clever agitprop on ending oil subsidies, the Transcendent Benevolent Cosmic Space Teacher currently manifesting in our dimension as Senator Harry Reid has forgotten one small, minor, technical detail.  To wit: as written the bill raises revenue, and all bills that raise revenue must originate in the House of Representatives.

Article I.  Section VII.

All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.

And this is why the new House leadership insisted – insisted - that the new session start with the Constitution being read.  It’s because you can never assume that any Democratic politician has read the blessed thing.

As they keep demonstrating.

“Cuts spending in the tax code”, doncha know? Whereas all earned monies belong to the government, the Senate is allowed to reduce spending.

Are you hammering out these blogs watching 25 year old warner bros cartoon reruns or are the new category’s needed because some on the left have gotten so galatically stupid that yes, the new category’s are required?

    Please advise. ;)

The Senate can decline any bill the House passes, decline even to vote on it, or pass it with amendments in which case it goes to conference. Sure, Harry should get some Demo-dupe in the House to introduce his bill first, and of course it wouldn’t pass if it made it out of committee.

But there is no substantive difference between that, introducing the bill in the Senate first, and getting the House version introduced first and then supporting it and readying a Senate version.

Everybody knows it is just posturing, and those too dumb to realize it already vote a straight Democratic ticket for the most part.
