#weinergate … well, now. Weiner’s naked torso.

DOOM. And a 4 PM press conference!

[FURTHER UPDATE] If you missed that, then you have missed the most epic Wait, What? in recent political history.

[UPDATE]: Here’s the live feed for the press conference… which has been apparently taken over by Andrew Breitbart.  Wait, what?  Did Weiner run?

This would be where the deep hurting starts: Big Journalism released another photo from now-officially-beleaguered! Rep. Anthony Weiner to a second, as-yet-unnamed* woman.  Not only is said photo as explicit as the one that sunk Chris Lee’s career (essentially, naked male torso a go-go), there’s also this gem:

On Wednesday, May 18, 2011, Rep. Weiner sent an email to the young woman from that same Yahoo! email address that included the now-infamous grey underwear photograph (attached to the email as “package.JPG”):

And apparently there’s at least one more picture, which Big Journalism will apparently not be publishing, as it is too graphic for a family internet. Rep. Weiner’s going to have a 4 PM press conference: it should be a sockdolager of a show, not to mention riveting television.  Check it out.

Moe Lane

*Note: ‘as-yet.’  Greg Sargent (in full teeth-grinding mode) heard that ABC News has the name of the woman in question; let us just say that there may be more than a name involved, there.

Dude how in the world is he going to try to wait this thing out. Unbelievable. It’s hard to feel sorry for a guy who is known for his snarky ‘know-it-all’ smug attitude. What’s great is that he is going to fight this as long as he can which will only bring more problems for him and his party.

We need him and DWS on that wall….

  • streiff

    we need both of them

From our side of the isle? Excellent time to point out the Galactic Hypocrisy of this whole situation in prime time. Weiner’s imploding and very close to the edge, All he needs is a little shove… I guess we will have to wait for an “obscure populist” to get out front and demand that this freak step down. ;)

  • ldmartin1959

“…as it is too graphic for a family internet.”

Uhmmm, yea, right Hard to be taken seriously with that excuse when the same media shows television shows for “families” that are anything but…

Happened for less? Another classic liberal flawmaker who’s not going to resign. He’s saying that he’s done nothing to betray the public trust. If your spouse can’t trust you why should we? You can be sure, the dolt, liberal voters of n.y. will circle the wagons and re-elect him.

  • Old_Crow

    That could be a problem.

  • snowshooze

Before he crumbled, but it appears to be 10 days… now I am not sure when the story broke.
    Good job Breitbart!
    A fine weenie roast too.
Anyhow, I do not suppose my call for resignation will help, but I will drop a line to Don Young and John Boehner.

  • Goldwater_Conservative

Weiner is the most vicious, vengence filled liberal I think they have in the whole house. I remember watching him defend the high death tax rate because that person is dead, so they dont have to worry about it. The contempt he has for capitalism and conservatism is unmatched. Its good that the whole world can now see he is no better than a cockroach.

  • bk

I don’t know that there has ever been a more arrogant, cocky (no pun intended) member (ditto) of Congress than Weiner, so seeing him get smacked in the face with a giant humble pie is enjoyable.

  • http://www.gmsplace.com/ civil truth

Then no Republican legislator should ever resign from office for anything other than a criminal conviction sustained on appeal. Certainly not for “moral turpitude” or for other non-criminal indiscretion or embarrassment.

It’s time we have one standard for both parties regarding continued fitness for office.

He did it until it was obvious Breitbart had the goods on him. It just happened that it took around a week,

I know Breitbart suffered some under the Sherrod scandal, but I really like him and hope he continues doing his great work. I’d like to see him at more press conferences.

  • bk

If he made any slurs toward Breitbart in the past 10 days, it seems like a slam dunk.

  • wennejunk

Broussard said. “Everyone’s standards are different, but to be elected to Congress and sit there all day on Facebook and chatting?”

Exactly. Can we generalize this to say that this pretty much encompasses the entire Left side of the spectrum?

But, regardless of how sorry he is, this is as unethical as it comes. He should be censured/reprimanded, if not expelled outright. He makes Ticklefight Massa and Rangel look decent in comparison. At least Republicans have the decency to resign when the bullcrap hits the fan. We must demand Weiner’s resignation, or our paragon of democracy will surely cease to exist.

  • Locked and Loaded

the way he got in the face of the media and called them out for the hacks they are.

As an aside, in trying to hit everyone, Weiner forgot to apologize for the disgrace he has visited on the United States of America.

  • Ausonius

    Two words: Marion Barry.

    Two more words: Kwame Kilpatrick.

Remember that many people who vote Democrat have compartmentalized, relativistic morals (like the people they vote for) to begin with. Remember the mantra for Clinton: “It’s just sex. It has nothing to do with his honesty or effectiveness as a politician.”

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.”
    - Gospel of Luke 16:10

In Weiner’s case…”very little” is probably right! :)

We will see if his wife really is a Hilary-Clinton clone and will stay with the moron to stay plugged into Dem politics.

I’m not sure how many actually saw the press conference, but it was a riot. I was listening on the radio via Hannity’s show when Breitbart took advantage of Weiner’s tardiness, grabbed the microphone and started answering questions. That was awesome in and of itself.

When I got home, Weiner was already answering questions in his typically indirect fashion. He actually could not answer the question as to whether all of the women in question were “of age.”

I’m not sure if the link above runs until he left the podium. I watched until the end, and one could clearly hear someone in attendance asking questions like, “Will you help support Arnold’s love child?” and “Were you erect in the photograph?”

Part of me is relieved to know that technically this joker doesn’t represent me. However, in a figurative sense, he represents all of us, and that makes me ill. This guy is a cartoon character. I’m by no means surprised that he didn’t resign, but seriously, could this have been any more of a circus? Talk about getting your popcorn ready.

  • usadying

The one from last Wednesday, when Weiner swore up and down he was hacked. What is stunning is how easily his lies poured out. He was not uncomfortable or squirming in his seat. I am thoroughly disgusted.

  • gonzo55

First off, I am disgusted by Rep. Weiner’s perverted antics, even more so than his lying. But in a larger sense, is this really that surprising? We have the most corrupt president in history in office, who got there by running the dirtiest campaign in history, and since taking office, Dear Leader Obama has gone to every possible effort to apologize for 230 years of American history, from winning WWII to putting a men on the moon, to discovering the notions of decentralized government and states rights. His wife even wants to tell us what foods to eat! So there’s no need for any personal responsibility any more; Dr. Obama will heal our wounds, professional nutritionist M. Obama will make us all healthy, and we can just sit back and enjoy the gondola ride. In this climate, why not send harassing emails to young women? Why not lie about after being caught? You’re not accountable for your actions any more, Dear Leader Obama will take care of everything.

Now that the trail is hot, I predict that it’s no more than 2 weeks before the next democrat is caught in an act of perversion. I cannot wait until 2012. I’d wager New York itself may go for the GOP int he wake of the Weiner scandal.

  • jaykali

He is going to have to resign. I have only heard sparse details but I am hearing a couple ’21 yr olds’ – 200+ emails with one chick, dude as details, pictures come out it will only get worse for him. Once the next shoe drops (there will be several), he is going to have to resign. He won’t last through this month maybe not even through the week the way this story develops so fast. I can’t believe he’s not resigning. At least what’s his face (also from NY? interesting…) – resigned the second his shirtless photo came out.

  • jaykali

It was just too punny weird to be legit. It seemed like the most genius (and cruel) hack ever. But as it turns out it was a lewd photo he meant to dm. And it looks like he did this alot and so I guess it was just a matter of time.

  • http://www.redstate.com/jcrestonm jcrestonm

It’s been a long and hard day for Weiner. First, Weiner gets into a hairy situation and gets slapped around by Brietbart. Now Nancy Pelosi is launching a Weiner probe.

  • Ausonius

You are quite right: the Left is still lusting for a death to shame, still angry that America cannot be like the corrupt Europeans, who would not understand the idea that one’s character is in fact a whole, and not a series of separate pigeonholes.

Clinton obviously is a child of the ’60′s,who did not think his sexual behavior symbolized anything other than itself. Weiner is a direct descendant of Clinton’s escape from the Lewinsky Affair: if Clinton had lost the presidency because of his immorality, that might have taught the politicians on both sides to control themselves.

But no: the media rushed to rescue their hero with the mantra that “lying about sex” is really nothing awful, that “everybody lies about sex,” and that “no grounds for impeachment” existed therefore.

Republicans played that affair in the wrong way, failing to make the case that such behavior could indeed affect national security and that yes, “lying about sex” means you also cannot be trusted in general.

  • dajeeps

I can relate to what she might be going through; was in about that position with my first marriage. Needless to say, that is why I ended up with a second. But, at least, my ex had an excuse to be immature and reckless — we got married way too young and so it stands to reason that he likely didn’t know what he was doing.

But what is Mr. Weiner’s excuse? Having a second childhood maybe? Or maybe it’s just that he’s an elitist jerk who thinks he can just walk all over people whenever he wants and won’t have to pay a price for it because he never has. Kinda makes me wonder if this kind of thing is not just the tip of the ice berg, and if there’s far more tales of lies and corruption underneath the surface.

Whatever the case, I hope Clarance Thomas will finally get some peace.

The U.S. has only had one (Reagan) president who had been divorced. A good politician can win a district without at least a sense of trust–not an entire country. If your spouse can’t trust you, how can the majority of the country?

First time I’ve been on that site for over a year, and yes I have a fresh bag of popcorn. They were so sure Breitbart had set up Weiner and then to be crushed with “yeah I lied to all of you, and it’s much worse, and there was phone sex, and I can’t be sure that any of the 6 were underage….”

  • http://www4.webng.com/rickbull/lostlucky/ rickbull

the libs spent all this time and effort defending Rep. Weiner because they are so convinced that Breitbart creates this stuff out of thin air (when they should know better by now). When their ice castles melt and start crumbling at their feet (like they did during the press conference today), they lash out at their clay-footed golden idol, but they are really angry with themselves for being duped by their own party leaders(yet again).

And next week they will do it all over again, having learned nothing.

The very definition of insanity has the word “liberal” printed all over it: doing the same things over and over, expecting different results.

    Man !

With that lineup, I could go out to vegas and spend every last dollar i have on gambling, drinking and prostitutes and still look good by comparison.

More seriously though, I don’t condone any of that(well, i’m okay with drinking, especially living under Obama); but where any democrat has any moral ground anymore; I don’t know.

And while I can’t guarrantee conservative guys will be perfect, if I was setting up any woman with a man; i’d make darn sure he was conservative and a traditionalist above everything else, except having a steady job.

I got distracted by the weirdness of it, that it didn’t seem plausible that someone would send a pic intentionally. Plus the fact that it seemed not a stretch that someones yfrog or twitter account/email/password could get compromised. I am usually very cynical in the second I hear someone is separating (Gore/Schwartz/etc) I know that it is adultery-related but this just looked too wacky. The red flags were obviously his behavior, in particular his inability to say it wasn’t a picture of him.

It’s interesting that he would lie ab just ab everything else, but if he had denied the pic was of him that may have bought him slightly more time.

He is a moron, I can’t believe he is trying to STAY in his position. I mean does anyone think this perv is fit for office? Dude he will quit no question. This will be EXACTLY like the Tiger deal, where there will be a parade of new women, new emails, new sensational details that he isn’t going to be able to get around. Tiger had to take a year off and he lost his marriage. Weiner will not last 2 weeks.
