FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

Richard Mourdock’s valuable life lesson.

Do not let your campaign manager assault* a blogger.

Richard Mourdock (R) will be apologizing for this event (more details about the incident here) which took place after Right-blogger rebelpundit came up to the Indiana Senate candidate and started asking him some fairly direct questions about Mourdock’s willingness/reluctance to identify with the Tea Party. The actual triggering moment was when rebelpundit asked a Fair Tax question, apparently; it was then that campaign manager Jim Holdren took a slap at the camera and called the blogger a tracker.

OK, this is important. Let us say that rebelpundit was in fact a tracker – which is to say, that he was a guy with a camera whose job it was to make someone from the Other Side look bad by getting some embarrassing video footage. Guess what? If that had been true, then Mission Freaking Accomplished: and directly because of Holdren’s actions. If you are an activist and you see a tracker, feel free to crack wise at them. Feel free to ask them who they are, over and over again. Feel free to get one of those pointing signs saying ‘FAKE’ and assign someone to follow him around. But do not threaten and do not touch. That it happened here demonstrates a lack of training that is in some ways more worrisome than the assault itself.

Moe Lane (crosspost)

*It was assault when Alan Grayson did it. It was assault when a David Price supporter did it. It was assault when Bob Etheridge did it. It was assault when a CNA union goon did it. It was assault when a John Kitzhaber supporter did it. It was assault when a Charlie Rangel supporter did it. It was assault when a Joe Sestak supporter did it. It was assault when an union goon did it. It was assault when a Moveon.org supporter did it. Guess what? It doesn’t suddenly not become assault when everybody involved is a Republican.

As someone who lives in Indiana. I would really like a 3rd option right about now.

  • http://www.politicaljules.com politicaljules

Is it the same cameraman in all of these assaults? Because there seems to be a common denominator here and I am starting to get suspicious.

  • TMLutas

The problem with a 3rd option is that Lugar has enormous advantages and the law in Indiana is going to permit a lot of Democrats to cross over and vote for him in the primary. If you add to that advantage multiple challengers, he’s guaranteed a victory. That’s the choice you’ve got and the choice I’ve got.

When they can get you, or your handlers, to fly off the handle over the Tea Party at this particular time.

  • jackhammer

When I play basketball, the rule is “no blood, no foul”, and if you are the type who thinks pushing a camera is “assault”, then you are the sort of AV squad loser that I don’t want anywhere near me.

Rebel Pundit – What a whiner!

Do not ever use this forum again to even imply that the assault on RS Contributor Tabitha Hale was not actually assault.

This is not a topic for discussion, and I have no sense of humor about this.

    Moe Lane

PS: You wouldn’t be in this situation if you had clicked the links.

  • whraglyn

…rule means you are not playing basketball, but streetball.
That puts you in league with all the other ghetto punk thug welfare trash illiterate drug dealing gangbanging baby killers.

Basketball is a game with a set of rules to make the game playable.
‘No blood no foul!’ is a gang fight.
    How’s that for name calling?
    Cheers, All!
( ‘…in league with…’, ahh, sometimes I crack myself up)

  • johnt

after all, he wasn’t involved, plus he plays basketball, Watch Out !!
Now if these repeated incidents were happening to Democrats, I wonder?

  • johnt

just like other statist gangsters. Unhappy but to be expected, the retrograde, animalistic type never really goes away. Years of conditioning and the absence of a media that would shed
light on these beast like creatures has brought us to this point. You might call it the Richard Trunka moment.
If ever the fur does start to fly I wonder just how many will step up for the entire package of leftist decadence, I mean when and if the Normal People push back, hard.

  • jackhammer

I didn’t check the links. I do remember what happend to Tabitha, and that was a whole different league than the video up here. This is someone putting their hand in front of a lens, that’s it. Whether Republican or Democrat. If you watch the whole part, he is told about 15 seconds after “We have to go, I have someone else you need to talk to” and then he saves his timid “fair tax” one for the end. I actually like the idea of the Fair Tax, but I also know that it has been used against people like Rand Paul as a “He wants to raise your taxes” gotcha question.

I totally understand the campaing director putting his hand in front of the camera, perhaps exerting more than 2 newtons of force…but likening this to what happened to Tabitha is laughable.

And to the people below, go to any gym with any group of above 30′s, and you will find that calling your own fouls is much closer to no blood no foul…and for Whraglyn, you can go to the most upper middle class gym in the whitest part of Iowa and see those sorts of general assumptions. To be honest, a gang fight has very few rules.

But maybe that is why the AV squad and the manager types went on to become lawyers, to discuss the minutiae of what constitutes assault.

This was someone “putting his hand in front of a lens”, he didn’t push it away or anything…but in Europe it probably counts as assault, giving someone the finger does too…the guy calling him a feminine hygiene product might also have put him in the hospital.

Seriously the Mourdock guy was giving reasonable responses. He is a Republican and running as a Republican. The Tea party is not a political party, at least not in that race. Running against Lugar he doesn’t see it as advantageous to be too closely associated with the Tea Party, and it is probably smart to distance himself from some of the things that your opponent might contribute to such association. Running on Fair Tax has not gotten great traction for any candidate, and has been used as a good negative ad issue in many elections.

…was unclear, jackhammer? We are not interested in apologies for attacks against cameramen.

    Moe Lane

PS: I let the AV squad thing slide the first time because I figured that you weren’t being dumb enough to be directing it at a site moderator. But apparently you were. So: you will now say “I apologize and retract that insult, Moe” and get off of this thread. Next post, and you only get seven words.

On the pitch, “No blood, no foul” is the whinge of a twat on the rag. man up before you even think of brnging that (expletive) back in the paint!

The very small proportion of your mental capacity not already overtaxed by handling your autonomic nervous system is playing tricks on you. Very mean ones. That is all.

Was a scrum half for a year in College and another 2 years in Canada. My old baseball team was part of a Rugby club, so they would always talk me into playing rugby, but I was a football guy. So I played football until I couldn’t play anymore (injury) and since Rugby was a club sport, it was where I went. Scrum half, and at 5’11″ and back then 195 and as a former running back, it was a good fit. A couple of moves to other countries, and had to give it up too, but I may play Old Boys again when I get over 40….

[And 'sorry if you were offended' didn't measure up anyway.]

    Bye.

  • rmill1967

(And, I’ll use my favorite video as a celebration of your departure:)

And you demonstrate that so well in the above post. Seriously, you have no idea how many conservatives ridicule you (and Neil–does anyone even read his “Tech at Night” bloviating?) for your ridiculous pettiness on Red State. It’s great entertainment, though. We’ll keep laughing at you (behind your back of course) while we smile to your face and push our agendas to you and hopefully then out to the unsuspecting Red State audience.

And I know you’ll ban me and delete this comment, but as long as you can see it, I’m satisfied.

Finally, I suspect that jackhammer’s “AV squad loser” comment is what really got you. Hitting too close to home?

    G’bye!

    Out in 3, 2, 1…

  • powertothepeople

Do you write for a popular site, moderate anything, are you active in politics, have you interviewed anyone in politics on any kind of regular basis, does you mom and dad admit you are theirs? Or are you some “rmill” run of the mill asswipe who thinks their opinion matters to anyone?

And who are these laughing folks? I would state that it is pretty pathetic that you would make a claim that you are such a loser that you meet with other internet losers and “laugh” about someone with much more worth than you, but you know you are full of sh@t already and a big loser in life.

By the way, admitting you are a coward by stating you do not have the testicular fortitude to do anything but smile to his face then run off and laugh behind is back has to be one of the most pathetic things I have heard in ages.

  • Bill S

I’ll do it for him, since you obviously wanted to get whacked anyway.

  • http://www.nighttwister.com NightTwister

He burned an account for that? They just don’t make trolls like they used to.

  • Bill S

A sure sign of “living in mom’s basement” syndrome.

When you’ve been told what to think all your life, it becomes hard to do it on your own.

  • http://moelane.com/ Moe Lane

Although it was Neil who gacked your taylordog23 incarnation.

You know, it’s folks like you that fueled the fund drive that got me an iPad2. I’m gratified by your hate.

  • http://moelane.com/ Moe Lane

Or, at least, if people are laughing at me behind my back then it’s largely being done in places that Google doesn’t deem search-engine-worthy.

Don’t laugh! Personally-directed hate mail and hate speech are great diagnostic tools for bloggers.
