FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

BREAKING: Anthony Weiner to resign House seat.

Alternative title: 'Weiner pulls out.'

Unconfirmed as of yet, but it’s honestly the only option that the man has at this point, especially since his own party was publicly throwing him under the bus.  Presumably somebody offered him a sufficiently lucrative golden parachute.

Moving along, let us first get the obligatory parting shot out of the way…

…as you might have guessed from the picture and the subtitle, there is a strict upper limit to the amount of sympathy that I – or my colleagues – are going to show towards soon-to-be-former Rep. Weiner for not only his transgressions, but his rather transparent attempts to cover them up.  For that matter, the kind of commentary and tone that he’s demonstrated in the past means that he richly deserved the slow-motion destruction of his life, career, and personal dreams over the last few weeks.  But Weiner’s supposedly got a kid coming, so I will say this: take this opportunity to revisit your life choices, Tony.  You can still salvage your family from the wreck.  You want to do that.

Because, really, at this point you have nothing else left.

Moe Lane (crosspost)

PS: Now, this comment is directed to the Left, and I don’t mind being nasty about it: you folks do realize that Andrew Breitbart and his New Media krew has gotten another scalp off of you, right?  Nice job reinforcing Andrew’s reputation among the media as being somebody that the media has to take seriously, by the way.

I mean, honestly, Breitbart et. al. played you folks like a violin.  That’s one of the reasons that so many prominent Democrats are fuming right now; they – and you – burned a lot of credibility on defending Weiner, and it’s not like there was a surplus of credibility to spare.

Not enough lipstick for this oinker.

He’ll probably start filling in for Spitzer any day now.

Some packages UPS doesn’t want to carry.

I did not have sext with that intern, Ms. Lewinsky…

Nothng gives me more pleasure than seeing an arrogant POS get his just desserts. Every time his face appeared on TV he was arrogant, obnoxious, and had a truly overly-inflated opinion of himself.

My sympathies are reserved for his wife and for the child. If I was Huma, I wouldn’t be able to look him in the face without throwing up. He’s not the President and I haven’t seen anything that shows she has higher political ambitions. So, unlike Hillary, I don’t see any upside for her to stick around.

of this was when Joan Walsh said Anthony Weiner made her look like a fool.

Yeah sure, Joan. Anthony Weiner. Right.

He tried to cover it up, but he just wound up making a bigger mess of things. He’s out of juice, and has nothing left to give. Nancy Pelosi and Debbie Wasserman Schultz finished him off. All he can do know is limp off quietly…

    OK I’m done now. :-P

that much more time to impress upon independents and wavering Dems. that the party of the left is also the party of irresponsibility, party of slurs and name-calling, party of “d*amn the little guy” and what he thinks, and sheer hypocrisy, as Weiner had just gotten an o’care waiver for his district, even though he was one of the biggest and loudest supporters of that travesty when it was being voted on.

We might have liked to have Weiner around to kick a little bit longer.

But, it also proves, that Breitbart and the “new media” like Redstate has finally gotten the power once wielded by the NY Slimes and WaPo to hang onto a story like a bulldog with someone’s shin bone and produce the results that Reps. have been capitulating to with all too much regularity over the years.

    Well done.

His district is solidly Democrat, so it’s not like we’re going to pick up his seat, another leftist Democrat will only replace him.

He was an excellent punching bag, and the fact the Democrats couldn’t get rid of him stunk up the whole party,

Weiner could have stayed around for 50 years and the narrative stays the same…. this sort of behavior on the Left is more or less acceptable and somehow justified (he needs treatment, this was out of character… blah, blah, blah).

No amount of scandal will dissuade the Left from its need to know better, to centalize and regulate, to redistribute all wealth with the exception of their own, and to govern by sectioning the country into subgroups of victims.

A Dem may seem to waiver in conversation, but never in the voting booth.

That Spitzer and Weiner were going to co-host the CNN show. They were going to rename it “#Hacked & Client No. 9.”

but it *would* sway a great many right-leaning moderates. The liberal “true believers” only constitute about 25-27% of the voting populace; the rest can be swayed if the scandal is egregious enough. The Clinton-Lewinsky affair was just enough of a nudge to push Al Gore out in 2000. The man couldn’t even win his home state that he had represented as a senator. If Gore had won TN, Florida would have been academic.

That’s one less dem weiner being slapped around in public…

he will receive when he leaves? $37,000 a year after his disgraceful and immoral behavior? Come on! Until we, the people, DEMAND that our elected and/or appointed representatives adhere to and demonstrate an ethical code of conduct, we can just expect more of the same and they will continue to walk away with OUR money. Until they understand that they RISK losing those benefits when they cheat, lie, steal, hide money in their freezers, have affairs with interns, etc., then we will continue to look foolish in the eyes of other countries.
