FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

Bobby Jindal’s steadily-advancing re-election.

The meaning of 55 in Louisiana gubernatorial politics.

55 has two major meanings, in fact:

If you look at the above Politico article from December, you might suspect that the Politico author might just be the slightest bit disappointed in the second bullet point… although it’s highly unlikely that the author’s name would have been on the petition, even if she did live in Louisiana. Which is kind of the point.

Moe Lane (crosspost)

PS: Bobby Jindal for Governor. Like this was a hard call to make.

*This last link via TPM, which seems to be a little (quietly) put out that it’s three months and change before the primary and they don’t even have a credible Democratic candidate yet. What, former Senator John Breaux? I don’t know, he hasn’t announced yet: and you may want to ask Russ Feingold why. And I don’t think that anyone’s expecting former Governor Kathleen Blanco to announce, given that she’s currently in recovery from treatment for a rare eye cancer. In fact, what we are seeing here is a quiet collapse of the Democratic party in Louisiana. Which may have its own problems for the Republicans, down the line – but it’s instructive to see just how badly Hurricane Katrina wrecked the Democratic brand in that state.

…in that December piece couldn’t decide how to spell “Ceaser”.
So he spelled it two different ways.

of why recall elections should be done away with with of course the exception of criminal behavior or clear dereliction of duty . Proven criminal behavior of course, not just I do not like his policies so they are criminal. The practice of trying to petition a duly elected official out of office just because a person does not like them or like their policies is nonsense.

This goes for both sides. As has been said here many a time, elections have consequences. If we do not like who is in office, vote them out. If you fail to mobilize enough support to win, that is your problem. The time to fire someone or prevent someone from being able to enact their policy is at election time, not with some silly petition.

I like the left is being embarrassed by their futile attempt, but I am sick of hearing about these recall petitions.

    I would be on fire.

Funny how forgetting a little word like “that” makes the sentence look pathetic.

“I like “that” the left is being embarrassed….”

Finally have collapsed in LA, next it will be the south. Followed by parts of the mid west and select mountain states.

their names. Well at least most of them. Their all just Democrats with an “R” behind their names anyhow.
Bobby said no new taxes and he veto’d the cigarette tax, 4 cents. Then the republicans attach it to a bill and he passes the bill. But he claims he veto’d the cigarette tax and all taxes for that matter.
All you have to do is go to http://forgotston.com/ and read it all. This state is such BS. The only reason I live here is my house is worth less than 75,000 dollars so I pay no property taxes, homestead exemption law. I live in a rural area so I pay no Parish taxes for trash. I pay 9% city and state tax also I pay 4% food tax on my food purchases. I have no problem paying a use tax. To me a use tax is a pay as you go tax. The more money you spend the more taxes you pay. If you don’t spend much and save your money, you don’t pay much in taxes. But Jindal, will I vote for him again? HELL NO! Will I vote democrat? NEVER! So the governor’s vote will remain empty on my vote next time around. This guy is trash, plain and simple, period!

Tara Hollis, a retired teacher who is somewhat of a b*tch. Jindal’s campaign donated $5k to a charity she runs. Her response? To attack Jindal. Again proving that Democrats are thankful for nothing and classless

I am a professional technical writer, and I make typing gaffs on here all the time. Your meaning comes through, and, yes, you are on fire. Good job.

That the man isn’t running for President. President Jindal would be awesome. Never mind…

  • wojmax

Is B. Jindal a ‘natural born Citizen’ as required by the constitution?

Two parents who were thenselves citizens at the time of B.Jindal’s birth.

    That is the minimum!

and now it’s CRYIN’ TIME? Four Cents/Pack and you are out? It is precisely this type of attitude that gets BARRY back in, and encourages Progressives, to keep up their agenda. If Bobby is 80% of what you want and has proved out generally, why not keep up with support? UTOPIA is a dead end,& Perfection gets in the way of THE GOOD ENOUGH.Now is not the time to make political statements ,except to encourage “THE SHELLACKING, PART TWO”, in every possible manner. We here in Michigan would PRAY for a Jindal after 8 Years of JENNY GRANHOLM, and her Metrosexual HUBBY/ Stealth Vice Governor. Politics is the art of Possibilities,Thibodaux, so consider how much worse it could get ,SANS BOBBY. Even your best friend’s got WARTS, NO? Still your friend, right? Hoping good things come to you,Sincerely yours,FWK

And you probably thing Obama was born in Kenya, right?

What do you suggest Jindal do? Veto funding for TOPS? I’m sorry, I oppose the new cigarette tax, but I also happen to think Jindal made the correct decision here. Yes, the RINOs in the legislature used a dirty trick to get the tax, but TOPS is waaay to important for Louisiana for Jindal to veto funding for it over that. If you have a problem with it, primary the Senators who did it. Alario and Chabert need a primary anyway, as does Amedee.

  • redtillimdead

Jindal VETOED the tax and then RINOs in the Senate went an added it to a bill funding TOPS. For those who aren’t familiar with LA, TOPS is a major scholarship that pays for college for LA residents who go to LA colleges and get higher than a 20 (I think thats what it is now) on their ACT. Its a huge deal here.

I think he will be the top Veep prospect with Rubio denying any interest. I see no negative in picking him. He has the experience as a two term Congressman, two term Governor, director of LA Department of Health and Hospitals, director of the LA University System, and a Deputy HHS Secretary in the Bush Admin
