FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

RS Gathering: The First Day.

We’ve had the first set of speakers tonight: Rick Scott, Jim Demint, Nikki Haley. Cliche to say ‘a lot of energy,’ but there’s an enthusiasm here that is at higher… Intensity than we’ve had in the past. It’s fun to see, actually.

It’s also hot as all get-out, which is why half the Contributors are decompressing in a pizza parlor right now. That and the fact that we’re going to be doing it all over again tomorrow.

PS: I’ve said this a lot tonight, but let me say it again: we’re all very pleased that RedState is a help to our readers. That’s what we’re here for, after all.

I’d describe the evening as a hot double Scott Demint with a cool Haley chaser.

    And an excellent resource.
    A pleasure to visit.
    Extremely informative.
    And, absolutely unique.
Thank you very much for all the effort you and the entire RedState crew do here, and also to the many contributors and members who are active within the site.
It is an honor to be even so much as a member.

As my family and I drove back today from a family vacation in the patriotic city of Boston (okay, maybe 235 years ago), our Odyssey kept wanting to head east from I-95 while in South Carolina, home of the lowest gas prices in the eastern US. It was tough to resist, but the timing just was not right this year. I pray all goes well in Charleston (we did visit Charlestown and tour the USS Constitution while up in Beantown, close enough?). Our last three years we’ve taken the kids to Philly, Va/DC, and Boston, birthplaces of liberty, and all states/districts that went to Obama in 2008. I guess taxation WITH representation is just fine with them (seeing Obama bumper stickers in Philly really hit home.. I think Chinese tourists, that we saw there, appreciated the Liberty Bell more than most Americans), even Mass. taxes on pizza? (yes, the tax was itemized as “Sales Tax Pz”). We really need to get the people of these areas to read their real history sometimes. Next thing you know, there will be a tax on tea, except it will be only on tea made by conservative radio personalities.

It’s quite the honor to have Rick Perry announce from a RedState platform.
