RS Gathering 2011: Don Stenberg (R CAND, NE-SEN PRIMARY).

This is, unfortunately, a bit late: there were some problems with this and another video, which have seen been resolved.  At any rate, Don was one of our speakers at the Gathering – he’s hoping to defeat the other pseudo-moderate Democratic Senator named Nelson in the US Senate – and Don took a few moments to talk with us the night before:

    This will be the best chance ever, and if we can’t win this seat next year then Nelson will have to die or retire to lose it.

    but this will be Stenberg’s third attempt at the seat. He lost to Nelson in 2000 and lost out in the primary in 2006 to Pete Rickets.
    I like Stenberg, but I think Nebraska voters are looking for someone new. AG John Bruning appears to be the frontrunner, and you can’t really go anywhere around Omaha without hearing how Bruning stepped up and was a leader in the lawsuit against Obamacare. Even though Bruning is the frontrunner in the GOP primary and is leading Nelson in some polls, there really isn’t a lot of enthusiasm.
