NY-08′s (D+22) #OWS NIMBYism.

(Via Hot Air Headlines) It would seem that the people who actually live and work in NY-08′s Eighth District (epicenter of the “Occupy Wall Street,” or “OWS,” protests, at least according to this map) are getting sick and tired of the dirty filthy hippie freeloaders:

Panini and Company Cafe normally sells sandwiches to tourists in Lower Manhattan and the residents nearby, but in recent days its owner, Stacey Tzortzatos, has also become something of a restroom monitor. Protesters from Occupy Wall Street, who are encamped in a nearby park, have been tromping in by the scores, and not because they are hungry.

Ms. Tzortzatos’s tolerance for the newcomers finally vanished when the sink was broken and fell to the floor. She installed a $200 lock on the bathroom to thwart nonpaying customers, angering the protesters.

The article goes on to point out that this sentiment, while not universal, is widely shared among local businesses and residents; particularly the ones that have to directly deal with Occupy Wall Street’s lack of porta-potties and love for drum circles. I suggest, however, that if anybody living or trying to do business in this district has a problem with the aforementioned dirty filthy hippie freeloaders then they should take it up with their Congressman Jerry Nadler, who is reportedly encouraging the continuing degradation of local property values. His local contact information is below: I’m sure that Nadler’s staff would love to hear from those of his constituents who are enjoying the tip of his rhetorical spear right now*…

I have more luck winning lottery

It’s already cost us NYC taxpayers over 3 million they should just water the all down

Charge an entrance fee of $3. Cover charges are not that unusual.
If you buy something, you get it back or deducted from your bill when you pay for what you bought.
If you don’t buy anything, just came to trash the bathroom, no refund.

And $3 dollars is not that much, but enough to get the masses of unwashed to go somewhere else.
And I would bring this up when homer runs for re-election.

    Blood pressure a little low:

    Read this from Ace.

  • onemovoter

Here is one site I found making his comments known along with a video he found of an interview. It’s very good reading.

Hope all those New Yawkes flood his office with phone calls.

Mike, let them dump in the streets, it’s good enough for the dogs
How are the Tea Party people looking to you now midget?

Obama has turned us into Greece through piling up record debt. Now, he and his community organizers (Van Jones) are encouraging a Greece-like mob to rise up.

I can’t imagine him winning over independents through this effort. So long as our side is willing to call out the movement as being Obama’s bringing Greece to our economy/budget and to our streets. Specifically, this line of attack should be employed at Tuesday’s presidential debate.

  • earlgrey

    ever cover it.

Wtihout coverage of the scandals what hope do have?

The park owners claim that they are posing a sanitation hazard.

because it’s been awhile since many of these people have bathed. These squatters may turn more people into conservatives than anything in recent memory.

and Obama has clearly aligned himself with the grubby brats and their cause.

The situation offers a unique opening for Romney, though. Tying Obama to fomenting Greece in Our Streets (or Grease in Our Streets) would endear him to both fiscal and social conservatives. Those who are obsessed with not allowing Obama to further push us toward a European economic model would cheer simultaneously with those who see the moral degradation being wrought by these police cruiser defecators.

It’s an especially great opportunity for Romney, the eventual nominee, given that one Democrat purporse behind this is to devalue him as being “Of, By, and For Wall Street.”

Mitt can turn the episode on its head by stating his disgust at what Barack has wrought on this great nation. He should specifically attack Obama for coddling and stoking the Greek-like mob.

…the movement. He is pushing “American Autumn.” We who see the threat serve as his editor.

The movement shall henceforth be called………Greece in Our Streets.

I don’t know if this lends credence to the theory that this was organized by progressive politicians or not, but it is curious considering what is going on, and the information in Ace of Spades blog you linked above.

The solution to washing the streets of this refuse is to hold a rain dance and, when the rains come, watch all the loser vermon scatter back to mom & dad’s basement…

The Daily Show even had a video about this–from the local’s side. Stores and shops are fed up and speaking out.

has a great video story about how the locals are fed up with the protesters. The site won’t let me post the link, but it’s called “Wall Street Occupied” from 10-6-11.

Nolan Finley sums it all up here.

“I can’t wait for the menagerie of malcontents who call themselves Occupy Wall Street to arrive in Detroit and other mainstream American cities.

It will be good for real Americans to get a look at the folks President Barack Obama says represent their frustration with the condition of the country…

I haven’t taken a poll, but my hunch is more Americans relate to “cut the spending” than to “kill the wealthy.”

That’s why I’m eager to see this freak show arrive in Detroit.

It’ll be informative for voters to compare the American protesters Barack Obama sympathizes with to those he despises.”

relationships from the incestuous financial links connected to the White House in the last two years.

Wow. That info via Ace needs more coverage!

We need to know, but it makes me ill.

Where’s a good Pulitzer-prize winner of a journalist when you need one? Except covering this would probably guarantee a loss.

  • earlgrey

worse then the smell currently emanating from Zucottti park, it is difficult to see how this story can gain any traction.

First the details need to be investigated and drilled down to a few takeways.

Right wing radio would probably run with this, but that is not enough.

My only ides would be for a local tea party group in New York (ff there is one) or local GOP (if there is a competant one) to make it a local issue. As we already see there are some angry residents in New York over this mess.

I bet the NYT would cover it if they had local residents engage and outraged, if only to try to debunk it.

Got this comment from Ace’s strand

I’m experiencing a twinge of schadenfreude under all the disgust…the “Occupy” douchebaggers are tools of corrupt corporate greed, and they’re not even getting a paycheck out of it like those of us they call tools of coprorate greed. Lol.

Connections. Connections. It’s all about connections. Which the MSM will say is just coincidence, right?
