FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

Obama “won’t release his college transcripts” campaign criticizes Mitt Romney…

The chutzpah is strong in this one.

…for declining to release his tax returns:

A spokesman for President Obama‘s re-election campaign blasted Mr. Romney and questioned whether he had something to hide in his finances.

“Why does Governor Romney feel like he can play by a different set of rules?” said Ben LaBolt, a spokesman for the Obama campaign. “What is it that he doesn’t want the American people to see?…”

I don’t know: possibly Romney’s got the financial equivalent of the alleged gentleman’s C+ GPA that Ben LaBolt’s boss has been resolutely hiding for the last decade or so? – No, come on: it’s like the worst-kept secret in Washington DC that the President doesn’t exactly live up to the intellectual hype that his sycophants like to toss around.  Which is not to say that Obama is dumb.  He probably has an IQ of about 125 or so; which is pretty good, all things considered.  Middling decent.  But it’s not like he can set fire to people with his mind.

None of which means that I am totally fine with Romney not releasing his tax returns.  But I see no reason why we should pretend that Mitt Romney’s not playing by the same rules that Barack Obama laid down in the first place, either.  Fair’s fair.  And transparency begins at the White House.

Because he cannot afford to produce his own, and has gone to great lengths to keep it buried.
If McCain had any backbone at all… he would be President today.
But he didn’t and that is history.
But if Obama want’s to play the card with the likes of Gingrich or Perry…
He is going to lose. Period. .

  • conservativesumo

I don’t need to see Obama’s transcripts to know he’s a bad president.

Likewise I don’t need to see Romney’s tax returns to know he’s rich or a flip-flopping, opportunist for that matter.

Regardless, GPA is a poor surrogate for success in life. PJ O’Rourke sums this up beautifully.

Probably, the biggest predictor of success is the ability to problem solve and skills at coping and overcoming adversity. That’s hard to measure in GPA or IQ scores.

I think that Obama should release his transcript and that Romney should release his tax returns. So there.

  • snowshooze

When Barak went to see Grandma in Hawaii…
    It was a STFU mission.
He went there to tell Grandma to keep shut, or else.

  • ss396

    It’s the hypocrisy.

  • quill67

Romney should release tax returns. Perry did. (Yes Obama should release his transcripts and college records, but the press will not make him)

Always nice to get confirmation on these.

  • Adjoran

Bush, Gore, Kerry, and McCain all released theirs, and nothing better than a Gentleman’s C average among them. Obama could hardly be worse. That is not it.

He admitted he was not a good student at Occidental. But third year transfers to Columbia, then as now, are for exceptional students – UNLESS you met certain other needs of the U. One way to be admitted with low GPA was to be a foreign student.

Born in Hawaii to an American mother and Indonesian step-father, Obama held dual citizenship as a youth. But that is a status for minors only: once you declare one way or the other as an adult, you are now a citizen of that country, and only that country. Three-time US chess champ Walter Browne was in this category with dual Australian citizenship. He chose US citizenship.

If Obama, though, had not registered to vote, he could have applied as an Indonesian student to Columbia. But that would mean he is an Indonesian citizen ineligible.

But suppose he HAD registered to vote at 18, effectively declaring his US citizenship, and still applied to Columbian as a dual-citizenship Indonesian. It would mean he defrauded Columbia to get in.

That’s my bet. Obama can release the records and prove me wrong.

  • http://edgeinducedcohesion.wordpress.com nathanalbright

    …have something to hide.

  • Adjoran

If Perry went to a KKK meeting, should Romney go, too?

They could settle their differences: winner is the first guy to pick out Ron Paul beneath his hood.

Obama wants the info so he can paint Romney as rich. We already know he is rich. Why do you agree with Obama?

  • http://edgeinducedcohesion.wordpress.com nathanalbright

…That’s certainly a possibility, if an unpleasant one.

  • seacub

Hey, maybe I’ll get called crazy names now too. The refusal to release college transcripts is a sure sign there is something there we aren’t supposed to see. Everything is there from “where he’s lived, guardians, financial records. It isn’t just grades. If there was nothing to hide, nothing would be hidden.

  • usedtobelib

acceptance to Columbia was based on affirmative action.

  • http://www.timothy-bladel.com/ center77

but Obama will not release his because it makes people ask him to then he can call us nuts, Obama was born here, at least it does not matter anymore if he was not unless found otherwise I think he was born here, he is still a bad president, and Romney would probably not make a much better one.

  • origami

He was a decorated war vet who spent time in a Vietcong prison. “The Chosen One”s” transcripts haven’t seen the light of day because of the MSM not McCain.

  • origami

Romney should disclose because every other candidate (on the Republican side) has. The MSM and Obama are going to force him to sooner or later anyway (not that that is in any way fair).

  • snowshooze

Somehow he either became a Democrat, or misplaced his spine..
At this point…the damage is done.
And al I can say is..:
    Thank’s John.
Because if he had been elected, we would have suffered a 50 year setback.

  • snowshooze

    And I wouldn’t be alone.
He is full of it. Always has been, always will be.
Now he will focus a substantial effort into concealing his past…
I am not surprised one single bit.

  • http://edgeinducedcohesion.wordpress.com nathanalbright

…what kind of left-wing drivel they taught even then. I don’t think it’s his lack of academic excellence that would be a surprise, but other aspects of his academic record that might cause problems. After all, I’m happy to release my C- undergraduate transcript in engineering. I’ve got nothing to hide :B.

  • sbm1

The USA has no rules against multiple citizenship, be it for minors or grown ups, other than holding North Korean citizenship, I believe Libyan for a while, and maybe one or two other exceptions. There are also exceptions for serving in an army of an enemy, but doubt indonesia would be considered that.

There are about a million people in canada with US/Canadian Dual Citizenship, about 100k in Germany with both (although in that case the Germans object to holding both after age 21)…

Maybe he majored in communications, which is a major so embarassing I can understand why he wouldn’t want to release his transcripts….

  • http://www.planettron.com NickDeringer

If your 125 figure is correct, it’s the same as GWB’s. Ha!! That’s a laugh on the narcists in the White House.

  • sbm1

And he probably has his money in tax protected trusts, which most likely gives him an effective tax rate under 20%….

He should release them and say, “I made a tonne of money under good presidents like Reagan and Bush 1…I made it fair and square making american companies better and more competitive. Did we fire people, sure, and they got jobs somewhere else. We made money because we made the things we took over better….if I take over the white house, I’ll make it better…Taxes are too high, and anyone who expects you to pay 30% of your money to them is a scheister….so let’s get the tax rate close to what any sane person should pay, about 20% max….like my accountants did! If you want a president who has nother to offer other than the comfort of communal misery through class welfare stick with O, or get on my train where we all be living the high life” I sort of see it as a Tom Vu infomercial with him on a yacht with bikini clad ladies….

  • amazedamerican

I am so bald to see someone else say what I have thought for the past 4 years. Every time McCain appears on the television, I have to turn it off or leave he room. It was like McCain didn’t even care if he won, once he was the nominee he just fell apart. I finally decided that he was afraid of Obamas thugs.

  • Michael M. Keohane

in IQ. If I remember correctly, the released military records of Bush, Kerry & Gore ranked their IQ”a in that order. As to their college transcripts, Bush (the party animal) had better marks than Kerry at Yale. Gore was a poor third. I wonder what Obama’s grades were and what courses he took – “Rocks for Jocks” or equivalent?

However, IQ is not the “be all and end all.” IQ, at best, measures capability to think & learn not whether the testee wil think and learn.

  • http://edgeinducedcohesion.wordpress.com nathanalbright

…for the record, I wonder what Perry’s IQ is. It irritates me when people think of others as stupid simply because of their accent. We ought to be less superficial than that.

  • swamphermit

Affirmative Action may have given Obama a C+, since it’s almost impossible for Affirmative Action students to fail, i.e. they have to quit, die, etc. Obama’s overall grades are well below a C+…the guy is dumber than a rock…57 States, indeed!

  • throwback59

of real world facts i.e. Austria is a language, “corpsman” calling Hawaii “Asia” ect show that whatever his I.Q. really is he is out of touch with everyday reality.

  • spinoneone

does not require one to decide at age 18 whether or not to be a U.S. citizen and ONLY a U.S. citizen. If one acquired U.S. citizenship at birth, whether in the U.S. [presumably Hawaii in 0's case] or abroad to one or two U.S. citizens, it is your birth right and you can’t lose it in most cases unless you formally decide to renounce it.. If, as a minor child, you acquired another citizenship [in 0's case, perhaps Kenyan/British via his birth father; Indonesian by the actions of his step-father] you may claim benefits from your non-U.S. citizenship without damaging your claim to U.S. citizenship, providing that you do not swear allegiance to the other nation after you reach the age of 18. So, claiming to be an Indonesian to get into Columbia would not have been fraud. Within the letter of the law, but, perhaps, not within the spirit.

  • OCBill

When Obama took the SAT, it could be used to estimate IQ (per the MENSA website). If those scores come out, we’d have our answer. For now, we have someone who can sound good (most of the time) when they’re reading (which is virtually ALL of the time). My guess, based on his performance off-teleprompter is that his IQ is between 100 and 110 at the high end.

  • macbookben

The real issue is how this information has not been leaked. Obama must be Mafia with that kind of security. Surely there’s a Bradley Manning type in the administration who’s hooked up with Wikileaks.

  • http://tbrickert.wordpress.com tbrickert

Carter’s IQ is 156, enough said!

  • edintexas

As a vet of RVN, that doesn’t come lightly. But, with a twist on the old saw, ‘What have you done for the country lately?” Playing footsie with the MSM and Democrats (but I repeat myself) isn’t helping the country, or his alleged party. Failing to take up the secrecy barrier erected jointly by Obama, his campaign and the MSM is a failure which is having an effect on the country for 4 years. And that includes his “race speech”, his Wright problem, etc.

Did McCain do Conservatives a favor by his failure. Probably, though only time will tell if the Republicans throw the potential away – as Boehner is doing now with his capitulation on the FICA Tax extension. But that may be too harsh on Boehner. It may be that he understands that the majority of citizens are too ill-educated to understand that 2 months is unworkable and not worth the purported $1,000.00 which has been bandied about by some on TV and radio. Of course he should have understood that the message must be gotten out without the cooperation of the MSM. Sadly, Republicans haven’t a clue as to how to go about that, they think that Rush, Sean, Mark(s), Eric, et al have that responsibility.

  • edintexas

Hindsight is 20/20. There are lots of folks who apparently didn’t know that in November 2008. Would the transcript have made a difference, perhaps*, but McCain raising the issue of secrecy about his background would have made more of a difference.

    * Would you rather a President with a 2.6 GPA, a course load of 12 semester hours each semester, and that GPA “earned” in course study in GLBT studies, Basketweaving 302, etc.; or a President with a 3.6, a course load of 18 semester hours each semester, and the GPA earned in History, Pol Sci, Constitutional Studies, etc.?

I think those two hypothetical transcripts tell us something about the two people. Not to mention that Dear Leader’s transcripts might tell us a whole lot about what sort of treatment he received in his higher education – without guessing as to preferential treatment.

  • Ausonius

125 is a much too high estimate.

MAObama shows no sign of high intelligence, especially when he speaks, despite the hype that he is “an excellent orator.” Nonsense: this claim is driven by white politically correct guilt.

As a teacher I have opposed I.Q. tests’ specific numbering: it is patently ridiculous to say that a person must be just a little bit smarter with a 120 score versus a 119.

What you can say is obvious: there are creative geniuses, followed by people who are very intelligent, average, below average, and dumb.

At any given moment, a genius can become a moron, and a dumb person is quite capable of making a correct choice shaming those above him intellectually.

Consider the intelligence level of Stalin’s and HItler’s assorted paladins and toadies. Consider the intelligence level of BIG BRObama’s coterie.

The emotional aspect of Socialist/Communist/Nazi propaganda apparently for some people clouds their intelligence from seeing the idiocy of their beliefs.

  • edintexas

Nasty bit, that. No direct allegation (which wouldn’t be true), but using a hypothetical to insinuate that Perry would have gone to a Klan meeting. I guess you figure everyone on the Right in the South is a secret Klan sympathizer.

  • johnt

Don’t make me laugh! An average, normal IQ tests out at about the 95 to 105 range, my guess, and that’s all we can do, is that’s where the All-American teleprompter champ is. 125 is within spitting distance of Mensa range, 132-135. Apart even from inherent intelligence Obama is woefully ignorant, e.g.,”I don’t speak Austrian”? Pathetic.

  • Tbone

He really has never displayed much intellectual energy in his life and his woeful lapses of memory and confusion when speaking are very typical of a chronic drug user.

  • theericker

Why would he be ashamed to post transcripts showing a 3.5 GPA, or a 3.0 for that matter? While I am certain many, many people out there have better grades than me, I do not think anyone would impune my intellect or assert I slacked with those results. Intellect, as measured in academic achievement falls within a range. Most people that can earn a 3.0 could probably earn a 4.0 if they put in the time and effort. While it may take more from some than others, it really boils down to overall priorities and balance in life. A 3.0, certainly a 3.5, can get you in the door with most employers, beyond that, you focus your efforts on accomplishing other things to round out your resume. To me it begs the question, if he had a 3.0 or higher, why would he hide that? Wouldn’t one only hide a transcript if they had embarrassingly low grades?

  • izoneguy

But he is “smart” about all the wrong things….
Kinda like a negative man with the minus touch.

  • OCBill

If any of Obama’s grades, SAT scores, etc, were better than those of GWBush, then we would know about them. From that lack of knowledge, it’s fair to imply that Obama’s grades and scores are lower than those released by Bush and most likely significantly lower. I stand by my earlier estimate of 100 to 110 (at the absolute high end). I’m willing to bet his SAT score is below 1100 and probably below 1000.

The repeated mispronunciation of the word “corpsman” is telling. That’s not a mistake an intelligent, or even reasonably well-read, person would make.

I went over to the NYT blog post, and posted that, if the Obama campaign demands the release of Romney’s taxes, then it is hypocritical for Obama to not release his transcripts. 14 hours later and my post is still not up.

    Is anyone surprised?

    Just for the record:

We, the Normal People, would never hear the end of it.
It serves as an insight into the atrophied minds of the Left though. Bush went on to a Harvard MBA, no walk in there, and was a qualified Jet fighter pilot. O worked the streets with the Chicago trash. Editor of the Harvard Law Review? The managing editor said he hardly ever saw the guy, he would only show up for interviews, etc., & and never contributed anything.
This comes from the absurdity that those who believe in unmitigated federal power are more intelligent, Add your own punchline.
I’ll stick with the 95 to 105 IQ and go with Tbone’s acute commentary on O’s bad habits. Though O may have been blessed with abundant natural stupidity.

  • tomatin

    Why shouldn’t Romney release his.

  • Valrobex

has the degrees or the GPA that fits the MSM narrative.
Has anyone ever stepped forward and said they attended class with him?
Has anyone come forward claiming they were a “student” of Obama?
Where are the Harvard Law review publications he supposedly edited?

This guy is an empty suit and the complete fabrication of someone’s imagination.
