Mitt Romney and the ‘vision’ of #julia.

This is pretty much exactly what I want to hear coming out of Mitt Romney’s mouth when it comes to things like that ridiculous ‘Julia’ slideshow* from the Obama campaign.

Have you seen President Obama’s vision of the future? To help us see it, his campaign has even created a little fictional character, living an imaginary life filled with happy milestones for which she will spend the rest of her days thanking President Obama. It’s called “The Life of Julia.” And it is a cartoon.

Julia progresses from cradle to grave, showing how government makes every good thing in her life possible. The weak economy, high unemployment, falling wages, rising gas prices, the national debt, the insolvency of entitlements – all these are fictionally assumed away in a cartoon that is produced by a president who wants us to forget about them.

What does it say about a president’s policies when he has to use a cartoon character rather than real people to justify his record?

I won’t belabor the point: unlike President Obama, I trust that the people reading/viewing this are functional adults. Check out the rest of Mitt Romney’s speech here.

*For those who missed it: the Obama administration just recently put out a slideshow that purported to demonstrate the Democrats’ devotion to women’s causes by… suggesting that the only thing that would save one half of the population from utter, nihilistic DOOM would be a slavish devotion to a cradle-to-grave paternalistic slew of government programs.

This slideshow was, as you might imagine, very soundly mocked. Not even the media is trying to pretend that this one was a win for Team Obama.

he knows how to take a punch and punch right back.

  • blakemoney

speaking off the cuff to reporters, telling them how he supports some of those Julia programs. Please, Mitt. Just stick to the script on this one! I’m begging you.

As long as he keeps to the script this is something that can really be used to pound away at Obama.

McCain was running against ‘Obama-the-Promise’ – against ‘Hope and Change’/'Yes We Can’…. An incredibly well-marketed, mythological figure, who could promise everyone the moon, and make them believe they would each be given one…

Candidate Obama had no real political record, no real substance at all – he was the ‘Pet Rock’ of presidential candidates, and the fad-based ‘Be Cool, Vote for Me’ campaign WORKED far better than McCain’s traditional gentleman’s contest.

Romney is running against ‘President Obama’… Rather than vague promises of ‘Hope and Change’ – and rather than painting himself as a moderate to moderates & a liberal to liberals…. Obama has to defend the results of a 4-year campaign-disguised-as-an-administration… 4 years of pandering to everyone & pleasing no one, 4 years of abysmal economic conditions… And so on…

‘Hope and Change’ won’t cut it this time – and that gives Romney something to take aim at, whereas McCain was forced to duel with shadows, so to speak….

Lets not forget, the President’s cartoon is supposed to inspire support from the dependent class.

My neighbor, the machinist’s son wants to know, what’s in it for me? He doesn’t want to go to college, he wants a job in the factory. Schools don’t care about skills needed to succeed in manufacturing. What will the school do for me he asks? His older brother dropped out of school, and is still asking what;s in it for me. See both boys have the same problem, Dad got laid off, not because of the economy but because of the environmental policies of the Obama administration, And those same policies, plus the economy means that Dad hasn’t worked in two years. He doesn’t have health insurance so the boys can’t “stay on that”, Dad wants to know “whats in it for me”.

Their sister is in college, she was considering a job in computers, but software development, including web development requires advanced degrees to compete. All the foreign nationals coming in to the country looking for jobs have driven down the value of the work. It she took Julia’s path, she would end up making a little more than minimum wage, She thinks that is why Julia started her own business, she couldn’t get a decent steady job and it was a way to stay home and raise her kids. After all Julia never made enough money to save for retirement so it makes sense. Without a strong industrial base that the Obama administration is dead set against this young marketing major wants to know, “what’s in it for me.

The last I heard there are three people who build it, operate it, maintain it, deliver it, break it, dig it, process it, manufacture it, cook, clean or catch it for every one person that has a college degree related to it.

Next time you walk down the street look around you. Odds are about three quarters of those people, maybe more, work in jobs that do not require a college education,. Without them, there would not be a reason for the web designers. Many of them have very good jobs, or did before Obama started fixing things. They are people, they are somebody.

The problem is when American’s talk about Julia they ask themselves a question “what;s in it for me” and the answer is, Obama wants to help the people, But no ONE person is the people, and it always seems these polices don;t help people, they don’t help somebody, they always need more from people and somebody to help SOMEBODY ELSE.

I won’t even go into the fact that it Julia isn;t portrayed in a way to be multicultural, begging the question if you are not a privileged child of a certain racial majority that seems to be the focus of Obama’s programs who exactly is Obama trying to help.

No, it strikes me that Julia exposes the Obama administration’s deep prejudices. Sure he wants to bring in as many minorities as possible, they server a purpose, But government is there to help people who can go to college, rise through industry and found their own business, become one of those top earners that make so much money. Obama’s plan really deliveries for these people, the kind of people Obama’s government cares about,

So you ask yourself, it that is not you, what is in it for me?
Well the truth is, the Democrats have always been for the minority, Going back to 1836 when they were founded. What exact purpose they believe the minority is intended to serve seems pretty clear from the Life of Julia,

    Talk to Obama’s Failing Policies.

  • Tbone

McCain led in the polls and totally blew the election by refusing to point out that Obama was an empty suit.

Every bad thing that Obama has done can be laid at the feet of the worthless, feckless John McCain.

    Your meme is nonsense.

  • irishgirl

I hope he keeps up this type of rhetoric.
