The (Currently) Embarrassing WI-GOV Recall Primary Results Thread.

Hey, I never said *who* it was embarrassing for.

I’m not really going to stay up and watch this one, but here’s a quick question spawned from the results thus far:

With 10% of the vote in, why does the Republican who isn’t actually REALLY in a contested primary have more votes (78,370) than all of the Democrats in the contested primary combined (69,627)?

[UPDATE: Well, now it's 16%, and Walker is continuing to do better than all the Democratic candidates on this one.  Democrats were supposed to be enthusiastic about this recall, yes?]

[ANOTHER UPDATE: Yes, I'm just being a troublemaker.  Your point?]

[POSSIBLY LAST UPDATE: Oh, OK, with 24% of the vote in the Democrats finally caught up to the guy without a real opponent.  Well, it was funny while it lasted.]

[ANOTHER UPDATE ON THE VERY HEELS OF THAT UPDATE: Spoke too soon!  Spoke too soon!  The full update has Scott Walker ahead again!  Time for a page break: this is actually starting to get interesting.]

[BLINKING UPDATE: At 44%... OK, look, I was expecting this to fizzle out by now.  I mean, as a matter of course when one side has a contested primary and the other doesn't then you tend to expect a certain amount of depressed voting totals on the uncontested side.  That is a thing that happens.  But if this was the election itself, right now Scott Walker would be winning.  This is not good news for the Democratic party, although it's certainly good news for the people of Wisconsin.]

[NOT POLL-WATCHING UPDATE UPDATE: Hey, guess who's suddenly having one of those Unity Rallies?  Why, Tom Barrett.  At his house. Because at 61% of the vote in, Scott Walker is now looming over his would-be opposition.  And Tommy there needs every one of those votes.]

[IS THIS THE UPDATE WHERE IT ALL CHANGES? At 68% it looks like the entire Democratic field, combined is close to collectively beating Scott Walker.]

[AND IT WAS A GOOD RUN WHILE IT LASTED UPDATE.  Congratulations, Wisconsin Democrats.  At 70% your five candidates, combined, finally managed to pass Scott Walker, who was 'running' against ... a guy who beat a LaFolette.  This was not a good night for your party.]

By my count as of 9:21 cst the score is 320k for Walker to 268k for the Dems.

What makes this particularly embarrassing to the unions and the Dems as a whole is that GOP voters could have just stayed home.

This doesn’t bode well for them next month when the votes really count.

    about 19,000 votes

    1. Waukesha County (the county that counts my vote) actually counted the county votes with, wait for it, NO drama or screw-ups!
    2. The unions are stuck, STUCK with the chump they didn’t want, and lost to Walker in the last election.
    3. The DNC, big unions are going to throw an estimated 40 million dollars down and hole here in Wisconsin. 40 million that Obama will not get in November!
    Just say’n……

    Arthur Kohl-Riggs
(probably some wack-job; or just a place holder to give folks someone to vote against so they could vote FOR Walker)
Walker gets to beat (destroy) Barrett again!

  • citywidepinky

    59,000 votes

  • citywidepinky

About equal to all the Democrats combined (who are at 535,000 or so).

Bodes very well for Walker when he does his GOTV… all he has to do it call every single GOP primary vote and make sure they turn up again on the recall election date.

    Mourdock and this … nice!

Priceless. Taking nothing for granted. But this is awesome in every conceivable way.

    Sucks to suck Democrat dopes.

It’s a long walk back to reality for Progressives. Better than the trip they’ve been on.

  • GregInFla

And that makes things look even better under Walker. Gotta like it!

  • septembergurl

This bodes well for the “recall” in June — Walker gets more than his Democrap rivals combined. The labor unions and liberals have spent a fortune here, the main result seems to be to fire up Republicans.

Wisconsin could well go red in November at this rate. Outstanding!

Running to Illinois (FYI, Running to Illinois from WI, is seen exactly the same as running to Oklahoma from Texas)…

A 3-ring Occupy circus at the State Capitol.

Over a year of ranting and raving by the local liberal press…

And Walker is gonna mop the floor with them…

I remember when the guy got elected Milwaukee County Supervisor… We pretty much knew he was going to be Governor one day… And given how badly the last one messed things up, we couldn’t have a better guy in the office…

(I used to live in Wisconsin before I joined the Army – now I live in Washington)

… than the entire Democratic primary! I shouldn’t have crossed over and voted in the Democratic primary. There’s a rule (that I don’t think has ever been enforced) that if you win more than 50% of the primary, the general is called off.

  • earlgrey

out again in full force for the general! I’d hate to get overconfident.

I hope that those Senators/Reps in WI govt that were recalled in the earlier elections are recognized for their contribution to the welfare of the state of WI.

    Go WALKER!!!

  • commonsenseobserver

I think that only happens when candidates from every party are in the same primary…

  • zachv

That Belling was talking about a few months ago. Could have been pulling our legs.

So this is what $Millions produces during an election (recall).

If I were any Union Worker in the U.S., I would put my Union boss on notice.
    STOP the Political Spending!
The rainy day fund, pension, insurance, etc is drying up with nothing to show for it.

Walking away from a fight, is better than losing.
