FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

Charlotte Democratic convention’s appeal simply becoming more selective*.

You know, *RedState* can afford a four-day event.

It would appear that the Democratic party cannot afford a fourth day of festivities, to the point where they’re going to cancel their orignial kickoff event at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. But don’t worry: the ceremonial anointing of The One will still be taking place at the Bank of America Stadium. Hold on, let me repeat that, for the benefit of the six remaining progressives out there who are still pretending that the President cares about their somewhat sad attempt to create a populist movement:

THE CEREMONIAL ANOINTING OF THE ONE WILL STILL BE TAKING PLACE AT THE BANK OF AMERICA STADIUM.

…Anyway, the important stuff – i.e., the stuff that makes Barack Obama look good for the cameras – will still be taking place. Everything else… well. Clearly rank and file Democrats have demonstrated that they are not worthy of special consideration, and by ‘special’ I mean ‘equivalent to Republican rank-and-file.’ I recommend more truckling to the Democratic Establishment, not to mention more transfers of cash. Who knows? Maybe if the progressive base abases itself just a little more then the Democratic party will realize what they’ve got there, and stop Doing That Thing It Does When It Gets All Worked Up…

PS: If I was an elected official of the City of Charlotte, I would be getting infuriated at the way that the benefits to hosting the convention keep shrinking, and the drawbacks to hosting keep growing. This deal keeps getting worse all the time**.

I think it is more simple than that two reasons:

    1) Bruton Smith owns Charlotte Motor Speedway and he demanded a check. Given the non-existant fundraising by Debbie Wah Wah and the crowd at the DNC, the DNC couldn’t write one.

    2) Seating capacity at CMS is 140,000, the One didn’t want to give Sean Hannity the pleasure of showing the empty seats on Fox or Madcow called the DNC and complained of having to spin the empty seating.

and set up a big tent city at the Speedway.

can hold a bake sale. they could employ affirmative action pricing. Of course if Obama shows up, no knives or forks so everyone will have to eat the cake with their hands.

I wonder how many Libs would actually eat a cake cooked by Maxine Waters?

The spin the wheel game of high profile Democrat who will be otherwise engaged has newly announced member: Senator Clair McCaskill has decided to skip the convention. I guess we know the real reason it had to be moved from the Speedway: no one is RSVPing.

hold an auction. Highest bidder can see DWS have her curly tresses sheared. For an extra generous bid they’ll wire her jaw shut.

Oh, that’s right…she already did, back in April when the GOP primary circus was in Full Rainbow Afro, Obama was unbeatably cool and nobody noticed or cared. I have a grudging admiration for her political skills.

Now, what is Bill going to do? Whatever he thinks would shiv Obama without leaving fingerprints. Obama is probably terrified of what Rock Star will say if he does show up, and terrified of what everyone else will say if Bill has a change of–ahem–heart, or something.

It works best when a party nominating convention has one super star but that is not to be in Raleigh in September when Democrats gather to nominate Obama -Biden for another term.

Former president Bill Clinton may honor the convention with his participation but he will really be there to lay the ground work for Hillary 2016. Mr Clinton rides on the past but takes pride in being about the future.Such a preemptive or usurption act is tasteless as the king still lives and the convention is about winning 2012.

Bill could blow it if he overplay his cards and shows his fangs. He may hurt Hillary 2016.

and the dem convention is in Sept (I think.) Maybe Nascar didn’t want the risk of close proximity. Nascar has a proud tradition and rabid, devoted fans and a history of playing by the rules of the sport and the dems have…

well, michelle was booed at a nascar race in miami. So, they have that.

Maybe the convention should’ve been held at Talladega.

Plus, it has stormtroopers parading down Peachtree Street.

….to adjudicate the civil war there, during the week of the DNC National Convention?

that the city of Charlotte, who was promised the usual rainbows and unicorns, will be left holding the tab for most of this. I would bet buses are at the ready to troll Charlotte neighborhoods to get bodies to fill the BOA stadium.

I know how they can make more money for their convention. Scalp the tickets of the No-Show Democrats. C’mon, the first day of the convention – Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Barney Frank, Chuck Schumer, Maxine Waters, maybe throw in a little Socialist Bernie Sanders – you know, all of the big Democrat personality types out there pounding the pavement and mixing it up with the demonstrating Occupiers to see what they can get for the extra tickets without appearing to be too capitalistic. It would make for great TV. They could even raise the taxes on the tickets to make a little extra.

  • Common_Cents

Could you imagine filling the stands at CMS during the DNC? Get several bands(prob country) to perform etc… Dennis miller….They could probably fill the stands pulling people from all over the south.

The picture is bad enough when a normally sold out venue of NASCAR racing occurs and it isn’t sold out because people just don’t have the money anymore to attend. I have been a NASCAAR fan for over 50 years and i have never not seen these seats be empty on Race Sunday. Yet recently they are empty and it is because of this atrocious economy. Now to have the President there and only have a few of the Grandstand seats filled would not look good on TV where as in the Stadium it can be worked to look overflowing with supporters. Another thng that is happening in Charlotte is the Democrats themselves are not showing up. Many congressman are opting to stayin their home districts to try to save their seats. I personally hope they all lose their seats.

“Buckle up Joe, and don’t be scared…this is called a Corkscrew Landing.”

“I still don’t know why they needed the VP for this.”

“Joe, just read your book and chew your gum.”

The nanny state doesn’t want us buying and selling anything that is unhealthy, you know. Then again, those rules only apply to the masses, but not for the DNC people.
