RS Interview: Wes Riddle (R CAND, TX-25 PRI RUNOFF)

TX-25 is a new district, thanks largely to Texas’s phenomenal population growth over the last ten years; and it’s got a late primary, thanks largely to the Left’s quite bitter (and largely futile) attempts to force the state to do things that… actually, it doesn’t really matter what you try  to force Texas to do.  The populace tends to take the position that if they wanted to do it in the first place, they’d have done it.  Anyway: there’s a runoff in TX-25, on July 31st and we talked to Lt. Col. Wes Riddle (who is one of the candidates in it).

Wes Riddle’s site is here.

The splash page of Mr. Riddle’s website is a giant endorsement and picture of Ron Paul. Not exactly an endorsement I would expect RedState to make.

At Woops. One of the senior cadets that stood out. I liked him (as much as a plebe can say they ‘liked’ any upperclassman).

Good for him. Texas will be well served when he wins.

It?s amazing how this race has been overlooked in Texas media. Good news is Lamar Smith is no longer going to be my House rep. Bad news is he will still be around for another couple of years in the House. Smith had good basic conservative tendencies but succumbed to the DC establishment pressure and lost his effectiveness in protecting conservative values. Whatever thank Goodness for redistricting.
Riddle jumped into the District 25 race early on before it was sure the socialist democrat Dogget (current TX-25) would slink away and run in a safe socialist district.

The race grew to double digit GOP candidates including one time US Senate mentioned Michael Williams who simply disappeared from the House 25 campaign trail.

I was pleased to see Col. Riddle win the runoff spot after voting for him for his tenacity. His opponent has tons of personal wealth that he threw into the primary including daily mailers, TV ads, funny donkey conversations but still leaves me with the feeling he will be easily converted into the DC establishment.
Lt Col Wes Riddle represents the solid conservative principled man we need in Congress.

for doing this interview and posting it. I posted here about Wes’ campaign a few weeks ago, and am glad to see it getting a bit of buzz out of the state.

not a statement of 100% agreement. Yes, Paul is a nut on some issues, but he isn’t wrong on everything and he has a strong following in many places in Texas including here in our district. I’ve met Wes and know others that know him, and there is nothing about him that would lead anyone to label him a Ron Paul crazy.
