The latest Obamagaffe: “It worked.”

Permit me to spell this out: this comment of President Obama’s?

Just like we’ve tried their plan, we’ve tried our plan, and it worked. That’s the difference. That’s the choice in this election; that’s why I’m running for a second term.

How do I put this? Ah, I have it: this was the President’s plan.

This is what happened.

I submit to all of you: the only way that you can possibly justify suggesting that Obama’s economic program ‘worked’ is if you define ‘not working’ as ‘the country is now on fire’.

the rest of his comments. :) .

This, along with the ‘you didn’t do it yourself’ gaffe has got to make Biden feel good. Now he can truly say he’s not the only one whose big mouth is way out in front of his miniscule brain. And speaking of brains, did the clapping audience have to check theirs at the door?

  • Common_Cents

    Gaffes are usually unintentional.

I am assuming obama was telepromptered and read it or if not, he was deliberate in telling the audience “it worked.”

I think a better term is intentional straight out lying to the audience, insulting their intelligence.

  • Brookhaven

… the use of a lie so “colossal” that no one would believe that someone “could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously.”

  • liberty17

He thinks if he says it long enough people will believe him.
Hey, it worked before ” my experience as a community organizer……”

I have been wondering why this gaffe didn’t catch on…

1934 chicago newspaper political cartoon as relevant as ever

    Maybe his plans are working.

  • ctredstater

great job as always by the great Moe Lane.

the other part of the equation “there plan didn’t work” was, of course, was the structure given to America by its founders in its founding documents that created the greatest standard of living in world history.

I hope the Republican Convention wears out these two clips – and hammers Obama on just these points.

the other element I would like to see more of is the debunking of the “8.2 percent unemployment”. If it were not for the millions of jobs “lost” (people no longer looking for work) the real unemployment rate is nearly 11%. I hope that point is also made again and again and again.

    Hammer.

Here. Presumably they’re working on a TV version.

  • ehosterman

    It’s not a bug, it’s a feature.

  • BA Cyclone

That web ad is fantastic — I don’t think you need anything more for TV other than maybe a 30-second version to spread it further.

  • reggie1

I’m pretty sure old Joe revels in being the administration’s crazy aunt who got out of the attic. If Obama is perceived the same way, then he might replace Joe on the ticket to restore some balance to it.

  • AzHat

I’m sure he’ll come out and say that what he really meant was that “Just like we?ve tried their plan, we?ve tried our plan, and it worked.” means “Just like we?ve tried their plan, we?ve tried our plan, and it worked.”

  • fightnright

it’s very useful for his Fifth Column cheerleaders in the MSM, because then they can place the whopper in boldface on the frontpages of socialist rags around the nation like the NYTimes:

‘The President reviewed his success in this Summer of Recovery today…’

‘President Obama’s remarks included a recounting of the remarkable 400 gazillion jobs created since he entered office…’

or, another recent deceptive headline : ‘AG Eric Holder *wanted it noted on the record* at his Congressional hearing today that the reference to gun-walking in the email did NOT refer to the Fast and Furious program under his watch…’ (the article will of course not mention that the words ‘Fast and Furious’ were used in the email)

All the better for the Big Lie to travel fastest and farthest across the USA, by entering the consciousness of uneducated voters who just glance at newspaper headlines before they fast-forward to the celebrity gossip section.

  • ctredstater

what is great about this ad – these are my friends and neighbors. very realistic people in the ad expressing what economic life is like in the Age of Obama.

I was an “ABO” guy (Perry supporter) months ago – and more and more I am impressed with Governor Romney and his team. They are doing a lot right, and the genuine passion and Reaganesque vision which Governor Romney expressed in some of his recent speeches is very encouraging.

I hope he continues to understand the language, and mind-sets, of Constitutionalist Conservatives. Example – when he says “as President it is my number one priority to create jobs” – I would be much more comfortable with something along the lines of “it is my number one priority to work with Congress to repeal the job-killing policies of the Obama administration and create an environment in America in which the entrepreneurs are free and incentivized to grow their businesses – creating jobs and opportunities for all Americans”.

Moe – you are a rock star. I thought you gave the best analysis of the victorious Scott Brown race – and I always enjoy the great content you provide.

    Go Governor Romnney!!!!

Here, in Illinois, we are also blessed with a governor who shares the President’s Chicago and Community Organizer roots. Several months ago, he defended his massive tax increases by saying, “We need a strong public sector before we can have a strong private sector.”

I am sure Obama and his staff were aware of that remark. I don’t think that or the Roanoke speech were gaffes. Rather, they were clear and accurate representations of what both President Obama and Governor Quinn think of the private sector and its place in our society.

  • ctredstater

Definitely a clear representation of his views – yes.

No – I don’t think he “meant to say it.” Seemed to me he was off teleprompter – reveling in his crowd of astro-turf rent-a-mob sycophants. I can imagine his political people – once the firestorm started – realized what a mistake it was for him to let the world have a glimpse inside his head.

Almost like a guy at a party who had one too many drinks. He starts to stay something and there is no “circuit breaker”.

but I can’t see any of these videos that’s been posted. What type of programs are running these vids?

  • gekster

You have to download it from Adobe and you can see the vids.
I had the same problem awhile ago.
If you are running windows, just type adobe in the address bar, and hit ctrl + enter at the same time and it will take you to thier website.
Go to downloads on the page and you should see the Flash Player download there. It is free.

  • veritaseequitas

thinks and what he believes. That’s what is so scary. He looked pretty desperate to me as he was saying this. Kind of like he sucked on a lemon and didn’t know which way to spit.

perspective of Rush Limbaugh’s “I hope he Fails.”

Obama wanted to bring the U.S. down to the level of other nations. Knock us off our “high horse.” His policies have weakened this country, made us much more ordinary, less special.
    From that perspective, “It Worked.”

  • Common_Cents

The guy transferred over a billion bucks of customer segregated account money to cover his trading losses? That’s like your bank taking money out of your checking account to cover for their mortgage losses.

    It’s criminal.

  • avagreen

    Still nothing.

    I downloaded/installed Flash Player 11. ??

  • Tbone

if what you want to do is kill 200 people real quick.

Obama hates America, as such his plans are working.

  • gekster

Maybe it is turned off in ‘manage add ons’.
Hit ‘tools’, then hit manage ‘manage add ons”.
Go there to see if it is enabled.

    After that, I don’t know.

  • garfieldjl

That’s the only plausible explanation for the premise that his plan worked.

  • avagreen

    ….??

  • gekster

I’ve hit save file before and it still goes away.

  • chbroussard

    nt

  • avagreen

Can’t find what I’ve disabled that’s related to Adobe Flash, but have disabled Google stuff.

Oh well. I’ll just keep messing with this and find out what’s going on. Will do research as well.

    Thanx.

The country IS on fire…so maybe Mr. Lane hit the nail on the head.

The scarry part of this is the use of the past tense of work. If “worked” is the correct word, then the end of America is now irreversible. Of cource you have to first determine what it was that “worked”. Here its is:

The Plan, The Whole Plan, and Nothing But The Plan

The only thing I see yet to be completed in the action list at the lower left is the last item.

  • lineholder

For someone to say “it worked” can convey a lot about what their goals truly were to begin with.

Now if Obama’s goal was to undermine the private sector to the point that more people would lose their jobs in the hopes that this would increase dependency on government….well, yeah, I’d say “it worked”, wouldn’t you?

But given exactly how many Americans are suffering due to those choices, to even think about bragging about it in public…that’s pretty low, you know?

  • mb3986

The Obama claim that we’ve tried his way and it worked is reminiscent of Lincoln Steffens assertion, upon his return from the Soviet Union that “I’ve seen the future and it works!”

We all know how that one turned out!

  • fortcollins

“It worked.” But what is “It”?

If “it” is dictatorial misuse of Executive Orders, the Dear Leader is correct.

If “it” is ramming the largest tax increase down the throats of working Americans, to redistribute the dwindling wealth to the increasingly dependent – the Dear Leader is correct.

If “it” is creation of ever-expanding “enemies lists” and misuse of federal enforcement authority to carry out retribution (ask Gibson Guitars), the Dear Leader is correct.

If “it” is exponentially increasing administrative regulation of producers and job-creators to further an ideological agenda, the Dear Leader is correct.

If “it” is crushing ingenuity, private equity, small business, job creation, and the world’s best healthcare system in favor of central planning, nanny-ism, and Euro-socialism, the Dear Leader is correct.

If “it” is misusing public trust and taxpayers’ money to reward campaign donors through crony socialism, the Dear Leader is correct.

But if “it” is the long-promised and ever-more-unlikely economic recovery, the Dear Leader is a bald-faced liar.
