We covered the original story here: the short version is that a few days ago it was reported that Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski grabbed and bruised Breitbart reporter Michelle Shields when the latter attempted to ask Donald Trump a question on affirmative action. There has been considerable pushback by Lewandowski on what happened, starting with We didn't know that she was with Breitbart and ending with She's a dirty, dirty little serial liar because the attack never happened (quotes are not exact). Various of Trump's minions have also played the Show us the video! card as part of the denial process (mind you, this entire thing was originally part of an eyewitness report by Washington Post reporter Ben Terris), presumably because nobody saw a video camera around.
But there was apparently a tape recorder. Politico has the audio, and while they haven't provided it - yet - they've helpfully given out a transcript. Here's a portion:
Terris: “Yea he just threw you down."
Fields: “I can’t believe he just did that that was so hard. Was that Corey?"
Terris: “Yeah, like, what threat were you?"
Fields: "That was insane. You should have felt how hard he grabbed me. That's insane. I’ve never had anyone do that to me from a campaign."
...But there are no campaigns quite like Donald Trump's, are there? And thank God for that, ladies and gentlemen. Thank God for that.
