This week, President Trump has declared war on the people and groups that propelled him in the 2016 presidential election to victory.

Trump has tried to intimidate and insult members of the House Freedom Caucus to get his way, but he took it one step further Thursday when he declared war on the Freedom Caucus.

Trump, in a series of tweets, suggested that he would need to “fight” the conservative group in 2018 to get things done.

Do you know who President Trump sounds like? Karl Rove.

Karl Rove penned an op-ed in The Wall Street Journal on Wednesday, arguing: “The only lines crossed during this debacle were breached by the Freedom Caucusers, who committed political libel against their Republican colleagues, stopped the legislative process dead in its tracks, and saved ObamaCare. Congratulations.”

On Fox News Thursday afternoon, Bill Hemmer made note that Rove sounded exactly like Donald Trump today.

Let’s flashback to 2013 when Karl Rove and his cronies fought very hard to destroy the Tea Party movement.

Rove even created a SuperPAC, the Conservative Victory Project, that literally sought to “recruit seasoned candidates and protect Senate incumbents from challenges by far-right conservatives and Tea Party enthusiasts who Republican leaders worry could complicate the party’s effort to win control of the Senate,” The New York Times reported.

Rove was very active against Tea Party candidates in the election, especially Chris McDaniel in Mississippi in 2013.

While Trump was a businessman in 2013, he is on record several times defending the Tea Party and showing his support for it. Here are a few old tweets from 2013:

Trump was against Rove’s actions against Tea Party members in the 2014 primaries.

Trump even tagged Rove in several tweets, calling him a bully and an establishment foe working with the Democrats.

Back then, Trump was 100 percent right.

So what happened?

President Trump is easily swayed. He has surrounded himself with many establishment foes that have never been part of grassroots organizations or the Tea Party.

As such, they are steering him away from the platform that he was elected on. This is a major problem because it has lead to many of Trump’s agendas going against what the Tea Party elected him to do.
