FCC: Wholly owned subsidiary of Free Press

When I said that Free Press, the fringe neo-Marxist organization pushing Net Neutrality, has as an end goal the nationalization of the mass media in America, I suspect some people thought I was exaggerating the threat. But look at this Media Bistro report about senior FCC advisor Steve Waldman:

On Monday night the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) senior advisor to the chairman Steve Waldman tried out the agency’s “Reboot” message … One area that came up as a possibility is the expansion of public media: radio, TV, and otherwise. Could Waldman be hinting at a government subsidized, local market version of ProPublica to fill in the gap? He’s testing the message.

This is what a push for state run media looks like, folks. All coming from Free Press Executive Director Josh Silver, via TV News Check:

So let’s not be delusional and pretend that the commercial sector is providing the information and the quality educational and cultural fare that this democracy requires.

Soon you will have a “right” to state run media just as you have a “right” to Obamacare, if they get their way.

    You are correct!!
I was in the middle of a detailed article myself. The Progressives have learned how to monopolize the lingo and use the terms (Free, Democratic, Progress, justice, fairness) to co-opt the discussion.

    Here is another source http://laruelive.blogtownhall.com/2010/04/28/the_progressive_movement_must_be_stopped_ii.thtml

Good post we need to get the word out.
Also they are trying to charge for each song played on the radio go to www.noperformancetax.org. for more info.

If you notice these guys think they know what you need. And they are serious. The reason TV has what it has on it is because it sells. Free Market. Hey, I’m with the guy on some points as I suffer my wife’s love for Survivor, models on the runways (or something like that), and a couple of other shows that are one step from circuses and bread. (Honestly, “Ghosthunters” as a TV show? And it gets renewed?) But the point is this is a free market and people should be able to chose their poison. It is why the Internet is so popular and websites like Redstate, drudge, Malkin and others dominate. It is also why talk radio is filled with conservative voices and FOX dominates the news.

Your fear is justified. “Control the message, control the people” is not lost on the people in charge. Many cut their student teeth during the “Cultural Revolution” in China. You are seeing Mao’s teaching being implemented here.

With Obama Chavez at the helm. Truly frightening.

controlled by government, not even good dialectic. And the ” the quality educational and cultural fare that democracy requires”.
Democracy requires? Apart from this slime’s idea of culture, low enough to be sure, lies this slime’s idea of what democracy in his odd view actually requires. Nothing a cadre of thought police can’t manage.

Oh for the bad old days of Bush fascism.

Understanding how democracy is dependent on media control by “the right people” is a sophistry that takes YEARS to understand.

And not just college, but the *right kind* of college; we knuckle graggers who wasted our college years learning how to bend the forces of nature to do the bidding of mankind could never hope to understand the subtle nuances involved in the chain of logic that leads from “I want the government to leave me alone” to “I can only be free if the government controls every aspect of my life”

About a year before 9/11, I was on my way in to work on a Saturday morning and listening to an NPR panel discussion on medical research. The discussion basically boiled down to how medical research is “warped” by market forces – instead of curing malaria or lukemia, the drug companies are wasting time on baldness and impotence, simply because there’s more money in them. The “moderator” just dripped contempt when he mentioned these products.

Working as I was in the medical device field, it occurred to me that this clown, who knew nothing about my field, felt that he was qualified to decide what projects should be undertaken. That was when I started to realize that there is no aspect of anyone’s life that the people who “know what’s best for society” don’t think they should be controlling.

I meant “knuckle draggers”, not “graggers”.

    “Free,” “Press,” and “Democracy.”

And it dovetails with Obama’s unapologetic speeches of late that the private sector provides no public goods.

While I’m blessed with a wife who does not watch Survivors and such, I just knew there were lots of other folks out there who simply don’t understand the public’s appetite for these shows. I fully agree that they are only one step removed, but they obviously sell else they wouldn’t be on (and growing). That last can’t be said for anything the government would be imposing.

Since the chewer-out-in-chief floated this little trial balloon, I’m wondering how long it will be before he writes an Executive Order telling the IRS to tax incomes over a certain amount at !00%. After all, at some point, you’ve earned enough money and it should be re-distributed to some porch sitter in subsidized housing that you are aso paying for. We are losing are freedom as fast as Obama and his merry band of fascists, socialists, and progressives can take it.

This “Net Neutrality” scares me more than just about anything.
One of the main tenets of the take over of a country by a dictator is the control of the media. To me, this is more dangerous than the control of the military. The internet has become the major source of exposing the fraud and lies we are expected to swallow. It is the main source of getting the REAL news to “progressives” that refuse to listen to talk radio or Fox News. Most everything else is already liberal controlled media.
I know several teachers that truly do not know what is going on in the world because they refuse to listen to anything they consider “conservative” bulwarks.
Be warned, be foreamred, be ready to fight. Stopping this will be PARAMOUNT to our freedom.
