Tech at Night: FCC, Google, Texas

Tech at Night

Tonight I will be brief. My wrist is begging I not type another word tonight, but I have a queue of things I don’t want to leave until Monday. So I will share them, but with less commentary than usual. Apologies from my wrist.

Per Hillicon Valley two states have taken a stand on FCC Deem and Pass “Third way” reclassification of ISPs. Texas has come out against regulating the Internet this way, but Ohio has come out in favor. Ohio readers: You know what to do. AG Richard Cordray needs to pay for this pro-Internet regulation stance, doesn’t he?

Even as Google pulls out all the stops to promote Internet regulation, they’re whining like hypocritical little babies to keep themselves exempt from any form of regulation. Too bad. Too bad, I say. If ISPs have to be transparent and neutral, and route Internet packets according to what FCC Commissars say is best, then you have to do searches in a transparent and neutral way, and return results according to what FCC Commissars say is best. You chose to ride on the scorpion, and it’s going to sting you because that’s its nature.

Don’t like it, Google? Then switch sides on Net Neutrality. Because I’m going to laugh in your faces if your backing of Net Neutrality backfires, and so will all of us who are watching you collaborate with the big government Democrats in Washington. Yes, my wrist is aching and making me get more strident than I might, but too bad. If your core business is attacked by the FCC using the Title II powers you are promoting, then your suffering is just.

Oh, and a special scowl to the FCC today. Apparently our technical Commissars are unhappy that people in the real world are opposing their propaganda and responding to it. In any case, it’s nice that you guys have outed yourselves not as neutral regulators for the common good, but you are placing yourselves in direct opposition to the industries you are entrusted to regulate. You are looters, plain and simple, and you are exposed to shame for your implied threats against honest businessmen if they don’t “work with you” according to your dictatorial terms.

It’s the time FCC got neutered by the Congress, because these ideological goons are completely out of control.

Again, apologies for the way my wrist is making me brief and irritable, but I hope this is still useful. Good night.

Even in the conservative state of Idaho the County Commissioners appear to believe that net neutrality is a good thing. Every single consultant they hire tells them that this will give the counties unlimited bandwidth and they must support it. Particularly on this issue they don?t seem to understand that it is just another method of the feds to control our access and information.

Maybe off topic, thoughI like your piece, your pain caught my attention…..Do some research on KinesioTape, and see if someone in your town can tape you (like an Occupational Therapist or Certified Hand Therapist). The pain will be an old memory, and they can teach you to tape yourself so you can manage it on your own. ( If it’s broken and in a cast, wait until the cast comes off….lol.) It is a great way to deal with pain and dysfunction without taking pharma or messing with surgery first.

Until the hooks are firmly set. There’s too much money, and too much power…there’s too much control they could have, and they cannot tolerate our freedom of unbridled speech and free communication. The Peasants must not be allowed to gather or communicate.
I used to think all these ideas were purified BS…but anymore, well, I can’t deny the truth when it is staring me in the face.
Every hack government conspiracy theory just makes more and more sense.
I have my official tin foil hat now, and have joined the Tea Party, Red State, the Tea Party Patriots…I have discovered Salon.com…oh geeze…but read their food section, it is mind blowing and nothing short of excellent, with recipes to boot. Their liberal slant will send you screaming down the road like a madman though, so just bypass that or you will wind up like me.
Neil, I appreciate you staying on top of this issue, the net is currently our single line of communication. The institutionalized government is currently opposed to the Founding Fathers every wisdom and ideal.
And remember…when they tell you..” I’m from the Government, and I’m here to help..”
Yep…it’s true. If someone would take this straight jacket off of me, I could have saved a lot of wear and tear on my nose…

I appreciate and accept your welcoming to the lobotomy club.

the WordPress server confiscated by ‘the govenment authorities’ shutting down 73,000 blogs?
    http://torrentfreak.com/u-s-authorities-shut-down-wordpress-host-with-73000-blogs-100716/

    and
    http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=964013

There is speculation that some of the blogs may have contained ‘child porn’, nut to shut down a whole server? Seems excessive to me.

If you know amything about this I would like to know.

was that the server specialized in hosting bit torrent (.bt) type sites, most of which are pretty much for the express purpose of distributing copyrighted material without paying the copyright owners royalties.

Still, excessive. They should have confirmed violations for each site and taken them down 1 at a time.

Next, they’ll arrest everyone on a plane because there is one suspected hijacker aboard.

I see this “55555″ quite often and I just don’t get it. Anyone care to inform? I’m sure it’s quite simple and I will feel very silly once it’s been explained, but I feel like I’m the only one in the room who laughs lightly at a joke that everyone else is bent over about.

  • gekster

    on a scale of 1 to 5.
Extra 5s mean you either liked it really well, or you have a bad twitch in your index finger.

  • http://www.redstate.com/etcartman Kenny Solomon

Took me a bit of time as well.

Basically it’s like giving someone a gold star, milk and cookies, plus an elongated golf clap all at the same time.

    The more 5”s, the better.

Honestly, I’m not aware of any actual documented protocol, so I’m still learning as well.

However, I can offer some advice on a different item.

Whenever one mentions ‘my people’, the request is to name us “Teh Eeeeevil Jooooooooooos”.

    The explanation is as follows:

Five E’s: I’m only 52 years old and the elders have not seen fit to inform me of the meaning, so I’m at a loss there.

Eleven O’s: Quite simple actually………. “Ours go to eleven.”

    Cheers !

but the owner of this server claims he has been complying with take-down orders within 24 hours, so where’s the beef?

Now with 73,000 blogs described as “free”, I’m sure there was an enormous amount of unmoderated content there that contained *something* to offend *anybody*, but confiscate the server?

I am especially concerned that the owner has not been able to get any info on who or why this was done. Due Process? I think not.

My husband works for one of the larger ISP providers in the state of Texas in silicon hills (aka Austin) and he was very happy to hear of Texas’ comments on this subject.

  • cactusjack

put together with the other hand, making applause….worked just as well for me until being enlightened further.
