Tech at Night: Free Press, MoveOn, Google, TEA Party, NOAA

Tech at Night

So Free Press and MoveOn.org decided to protest Google’s new stance with Verizon on Net Neutrality. They went to Mountain View and everything, but there’s just one catch: they only managed to bring 100 people.

(Photo via @mjterave.) Just more evidence that Free Press and MoveOn are the ones taking the radical fringe position on Net Neutrality.

Meanwhile, The Hill says that TEA Party groups are activating against Free Press’s Net Neutrality. The more help we get against a massive Internet power grab, the better, I say.

And we end tonight with a slight deviation from my usual norm: the NOAA has been caught publishing odd data to promote the theory of man-made climate change. Specifically, the data behind claims that the climate is heating is backed by some very strange claims, such as a Lake Michigan with average temperatures in the 200s. Yes, the lake would literally boil away if that were true.

There’s no excuse for this. Even with a large data set, computerized sanity checks and bounds checks need to be performed. Either they weren’t out of laziness or incompetence, and the whole peer review system is the joke we’ve always said it was in an industry geared around promoting one theory to the exclusion of all others (because “the science is settled”), or the review happened and nobody cared about the fraudulent data.

Either way, thinking people have to question the validity of all the global warming science, thanks to this ongoing trend of scientific fraud and/or gross error in the field.

Our group ( DC Works For Us ) has been on the Net Neutrality insanity since we formed.

That and the UN Agenda 21 thing – ICLEI / ICR2P / One-World Government madness.

People thought were were beyond tin-foil-hatters two years ago.

    Now…… Not so much.

of those advocating Net Neutrality? Pratt hasn’t answered ME back even though I sent him an email. Also on the list is Instapundit. Interesting.

Free Press (Soros) is very much against the Comcast-NBC merger. Comcast is as reliable a partner for the left as GE, so I was trying to figure out why Soros doesn’t want it. All I can come up with is Comcast is embedded in internet access which Soros views as his. On the NOAA global warming hoax, I read the linked article. It is another big error that never would have been exposed without the internet. Even after it was found more or less accidentally and mentioned on a website, the NOAA satellite people denied it, said such a thing could never happen, etc. They finally had to admit the mistake and it was a big one.

The original map has been taken down, but the other link (to a snapshot) remains. Since the caption refers to Fahrenheit, I assume the numbers are on that scale.

On one row, Beaver Island appears to have a reasonable Lake Michigan temp of 59.1F … but if you head west to Escanaba, the lake surface temperatures read 481.6F … I might remind folks of Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, the temperature at which books burn.

Even if some measurements were somehow in Kelvin (a centigrade temperature based on Absolute Zero), the Lake had to boil! Stupid! If the temperatures were Rankine (another Absolute Zero based scale, using Fahrenheit numbes), the Lake would have been frozen!

I remember the warnings of Global Freezing, forty years ago. I actually favor the Warming freaks, but the hype far outweighs the reality.

But if you can convince people that the world is frying, you can tax the heck out of them for “Carbon,” and ex-politicians (read__Al Gore) will make $millions.

Fraudulent data? Is that what NOAA is about these days?

Or is it the result of hiring the dumbed down spawn of our “It’s close enough for Government work” make everyone feel special educational system? I though there was a vetting process before data was published.

Free Press and MoveOn will never learn. Their own brand of crazy seems to have rewired their brains. But Google, Google should have enough common sense to know better than support net neutrality.

But there were a few right-leaning groups that were suckered into signing onto Save the Internet.

You see, Free Press told rightys that there was going to be a massive socialist push to censor rightys online if Net Neut wasn’t implemented.

The Christian Coalition was fooled. Glenn Reynolds got on board. GoA might have been another.

I suspect they just made a bad decision without all the facts, and don’t hold it against them.

Communists are typically good liars, you know.
