Controlling the committees is the key. Castle would never get to vote for an Obama nominee if Judiciary Chairman Sessions held them up in committee.

Castle’s lifetime ACU rating was 53 – pure squishy moderate, not “left liberal” as the insane posse claims. Castle would be with conservatives a little over half the time, including the votes mandated by the leadership as party votes. Coons will vote with the Democrats and Obama 90%+ of the time.

The difference is that what there is a TRUE CONSERVATIVE, that does not appoligize for being a conservative, running then they will WIN because most of this country is Conservative.

Look, I get that is is fun to make arguments not based on fact. However, the fact of the matter is that no democrat voted as often with the R’s in 2009 as Castle did.

I get it, you don’t like him. But throwing out “arguments” that aren’t based on facts is silly. You can’t fight everyone at the same time. In WWII, it made sense not to also declare war against the USSR in 1941. Not saying we should have been stupid about, but a declaration of war would have been even less smart.

So yes, I think the R’s (RINO’s and squishes included) did a good job on those issues.

Snow and Collins will win as they are indeed well liked in Maine and their views are probably more in sync with the voters of Maine than those of Senator DeMint or any other “true conservative”, which are few and far between in the NE. They will beat any challenger that comes their way.

Blue states voters are generally not going to suddenly turn into Red Meat craving “true conservatives”, wishful thinking on the part of some.

After reading the discussion here on the Miller/Mercowski (for you voting write-in in Alaska that is spelled J-O-E M-I-L-L-E-R) primary election I didn’t make any comment on O’Donnell/Castle race but knew in my heart of heart Christine would win, and big. She did. Something tells me she may pull this out in November too, but it will be close. Coons is a Marxist, soon Christine must define him as such. Lets stop being pessimists and become AmeriCANS on Christine winning in November. (Just hate those AmeriCAN’TS)

You’re assuming we knew in advance that O’Connell has no chance of winning this seat (a presumption that I still don’t think is valid). In a wave year like we’re looking at (Scott Brown), that isn’t valid. Who would have thought as recently as three months ago we’d even have a chance in Wisconsin against an entrenched incumbent– a state Rasmussen now has in the Lean GOP column.

Running O’Connell instead of Castle is a high-risk, high-reward strategy, like I was saying. Of course getting Coons instead of Castle is a loss, but getting O’Donnell instead of either is a fairly big win.

I also think we need to be looking at the bigger picture beyond just one election. From the reports I’ve read, the Delaware GOP seems to be very calcified, always running ruling-class moderates and liberals, providing an echo, not a choice. O’Donnell may be the start of breaking that up and rejuvenating the party in Delaware. In the end, that could be a bigger benefit in the long run than losing one Senate election. Turning blue states into purple states moves battlegrounds onto our opponents’ territory and shrinks their safe areas. This also means, presuming she would want to run again, that we already have a vetted conservative candidate for DE Sen in 2012 (and 2014 if it comes to that).

Rules are easy here, conservative in Primary, republican in general. The next rule is even easier, If you do not like who the people chose, that is your business, but we do not damage the party or the person running. If you do not like the peoples choice, stay silent. The time for debate and campaigning was right up to the results came in for the primary. After that it is either support the choice or stay silent. Not that hard, but it is written in stone.

There are no first amendment rights at private sites and this one is no exception. If you persist, they will show you the door. If you feel that strongly about the decision made the people in Delaware, start your own blog and express that viewpoint. But in this house you must respect the rules of the owner. That is simple courtesy and respect, which so far you have shown you possess little of either!

if you are a Republican than you need to come to terms with the fact that O’Donnell won fair and square….and now she deserves our support….or at a minimum your silence.

Senator Grahamnasty votes in favor of Obama’s picks on the Senate floor, the idea that he would vote on the J committee to bottle up the nominee is ABSOLUTE WISHFUL THINKING.

You would have more likelihood of success hoping for power failures to prevent the committee hearing from ever occurring.

As long as Graham is on judiciary, there was and always will be a 0% chance of what you describe actually occurring.

51 Rs are not enough to stop Obama’s picks, and there is little reason to think that Castle would be to the right of Senator Graham.
