Tech at Night: Thanksgiving Edition

Tech at Night

Happy Thanksgiving. I’ll be very brief, because it’s Thanksgiving.

The FCC is going to vote on the Internet takeover next month. Defying the law and the courts, the FCC will make a power grab, or at least will try to. There’s still time to get loud, get people informed, and get enough popular opposition to this thing going that the FCC might back off. I’m not counting on it, so plan B becomes aggressive legislative action in January. So talk to your members of Congress as well.

Oopposition to the FCC grows though. This is not a partisan matter. Republicans and Democrats in the mainstream both oppose the power grab. It’s only the wealthy, radical socialists and their corporate buddies who stand to benefit in the short run.

The radicals are p retending to support something less than the power grab, but I think that’s just a distraction from what the FCC is about to attempt.

Meanwhile in Europe, people who value their privacy more than Google’s bottom line are suffering targeted vandalism. I already know what Eric Schmidt’s answer to that is: move.

does this mean getting our representatives to defund the FCC until they bend to our will? Because I wonder that if any other legislative efforts are made, they will not pass the Senate, and even if they do, what of Obama’s veto pen?

We must figure this one out, because the internet is what has allowed us to grow and be active in such a short time. Lord knows what we’d do if that tool was compromised.

    Happy Thanksgiving…

Of course – we’d be done. Can NOT happen. Little did we think Barack might seriously, actually TRY to push through HIS ENTIRE AGENDA so far in the ONE MONTH lame duck, huh? Silly us. He simply went into warp speed.

I had been afraid we wouldn’t make it to the mid-term election. Now I’m afraid we won ‘t make it to JANUARY!

But I don’t think it’s out of the question that we could find a FCC defanging bill that Democrats would support.

The FCC is just that far out of the mainstream on this.

  • earlgrey

Wouldn’t Obama veto the FCC de-fanging bill? It seems this was going to be their plan all along and now that they can’t get it through Congress they will get it no matter what.

If we ever get a non democrat President can they reverse this with enough pressure? I just don’t see how we can trust the democrats especially when they will need Obama in 2012. Too pessimistic?

I don’t think he really cares enough about the NetNeut radicals to go out on that limb.

  • gamechange11two

reverses this, if it becomes law, along with everything else this administration has done. Should take about 30 days of executive orders. I look forward to wails of anguish from the left as they whine about the expanding presidency and the abuse of power,

Neil, could we shorten NetNeut radicals to Net Neuticals? Or just Neuticals? Mark Steyn was having such fun with that word last week when he sat in for Rush.

I am hoping that preventative legislation is what Motley is referring to when he says, “Stay tuned ? we will soon tell you how you can be a part of the preventative solution.” I know you will keep us informed.

BTW, Saul Anuzis, who is challenging Michael Steele for the RNC chairmanship, has apparently been in favor of net neutrality, at least in the past. The Mackinac Center, which reports this, is a conservative state think tank. They reference an article by Anuzis on his blog on September 18, 2009. I had trouble relating what Anuzis wrote on the blog to what I know about this issue. You might be interested:

Obama not even waiting for Christmas to TRY to start ILLEGAL takeover of internet in order to stop free (conservative) speech http://bit.ly/18hXaP

YouTube has THE largest collection of copyrighted material that people are making money off illegally. You can see thousands of videos not owned by the poster that are displaying ads. But YouTube (Google) has already bought influence at this White House. What’s next? Blog sites that link to photos & videos not owned by the blogger? One more month and hopefully the Republicans can get out ahead of this train and blow-up the tracks.

…..taht comes out over internet. They don’t want truth. They want leftist propaganda only.

The video snippets, on any website, are excellent tools for making a point clearly. Copyright infringement prosecution is a COMPLETE SMOKESCREEN.

As you know, the intent of NN has ZERO to do with copyright laws or fairness but they are attempting to use this as their ticket to force all narratives and force all Socialist Doctrine as the only Doctrine allowed to be heard.

I believe Neil clearly addressed the tactic very early on. Obama/Sunstein/McChesney saw the music theft and bit torrent abuses as the perfect ticket in. Although the copyright laws are totally Draconian, too many people didn?t want to get it that you need to pay for what you get.

Fully agree that GOP MUST get out ahead of this. I would actually like to see them start NOW, THIS WEEK. Even if it is only speaking LOUD.

I would like to see them put down the Pumpkin Pie for a while and START SPEAKING LOUD.

Although this will be downplayed by the State Run Media as no big deal…..IT IS A BIG DEAL.

If there is illegal theft, bootlegging, inappropriate use activity of the internet, it is dealt with in court…..NOT BY DHS SEIZURE

Just like the groping pat-downs were a trial run for other things, this is the trial run for Christmas internet censorship. During Christmas, Obama probably plans the shut down of all online conservative websites until they are screened for copyright material through his new online web force composed of Media Matters, Free Press, Daily KOS, Huffington Post, and Google.

Dear GOP, don’t rush to any action here. Relax, sit back and take your time. Absolutely no problem and nothing work looking at here.

I just noticed thatt he search at the top of the page is google….why?

  • fpete13527

Look at this video. The moderator defending government control of the Internet and Swartz (progressive Dem activist) are cluless beyond clueless.
