Trump Got a Massive Turnout in Butler County, PA, So This Problem With the Ballots Raises a Big Question

As we reported earlier today, thousands showed up in Butler County, Pennsylvania for President Donald Trump’s rally. It’s not clear exactly how many were there, one count was 57,000, others were more conservative, saying clearly more than 10,000.

Whatever the exact number, it was clear there was a massive sea of humanity in the region who supported Trump.

The region has also gone heavily for Trump in 2016 over Hillary Clinton by over 35 points.

As I reported, even the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette which hasn’t gone for a Republican since 1972 just endorsed Trump with an amazing write-up.

So I just wanted to remark on the strange coincidence that this is also the area hit with one of the most significant ballot problems we’ve heard yet that we reported a few days ago.

Trump won Pennsylvania by 45,000 votes in 2016. It was in some measure because of places like Butler going heavily for him.

So it was perhaps odd that  thousands of ballots seem to disappear in the mail in Butler County, not reaching the people to whom the Board of Elections allegedly sent them. It’s not clear exactly how many went missing. The Board sent out 40,000 but as of Thursday only 21,300 had been received. Given the election is Tuesday, this obviously is very concerning to people. Federal postal investigators are now looking into the matter to determine what happened.

Now the Board is telling voters that if they haven’t received it, they still have other options, they can go to the Board of Elections or they can vote in person, provisionally. But the problem of course if they requested the ballot because of being unable to go in person, then they could be in problems.

This isn’t the only such county in Pennsylvania to have such problems.

Westmoreland County reportedly also had tens of thousands of ballots delayed. Westmoreland also went to Trump by more than 30 points.

Seems like it’s a good question to ask why this is happening, especially in Trump-heavy counties. If it’s a couple of hundred ballots some post guy misplaced, it wouldn’t be right, but it might be just one defective person. But thousands in two separate counties? It makes one ask if there’s more to it and let’s hope the federal postal investigators are able to track it down.
