Biden's Ridiculously Short Photo-Op With the UAW Shows How Worried He Truly Is

As we reported, Joe Biden was in Michigan to join the UAW picket line. He also slipped on the stairs getting off the plane despite his team's effort to change his footwear and get him physical therapy.

Let's be frank: He's there for a photo op in the hopes of holding onto union votes. Biden is seeing a lot of slippage in his voting blocs. Polls have shown him losing ground across all kinds of metrics, including women, blacks, Hispanics, and young voters. He's 17 points down with black voters. Plus, some of those folks aren't just rejecting Biden; they're moving to Trump. If Biden loses union workers, too, he's going to be in deep trouble. That's one of the reasons he went for the photo op on Tuesday.

The other reason was that former President Donald Trump was going to visit on Wednesday. Biden shows how worried he is about Trump when he has to try to get there first, to make it look like it was his original idea.

Trump Senior Advisor Jason Miller summed it up.

Joe Biden’s trip to Michigan is nothing more than a cheap photo op as he finds himself between a rock and a political hard place.1) The only reason Biden is going to Michigan on Tuesday is because President Trump announced he is going on Wednesday. If President Trump had said nothing, Biden would be giving UAW workers in Michigan “the East Palestine treatment.”2) Biden is still hell-bent on destroying all of the auto jobs he’s purporting to care about. His visit on Tuesday is completely meaningless unless he withdraws his Insane EV Mandate and rebukes his Green New Deal, which Biden will never do because he's beholden to the Radical Left Eco-Loons in California. Joe Biden cares more about his extremist liberal base than he does about auto workers in Michigan or anywhere else in the United States.

That's the thing that's so incredible about Biden going there. He has some nerve showing up. This hug here is just so hypocritical.

He's doing everything he can to kill their jobs with his EV push and climate change agenda. He's lucky they didn't show him the door when he showed up and wanted to join them for political reasons. He said everything he thought they wanted to hear, whether or not it made any sense. Now he'll go back to Washington and continue to adversely affect their jobs.

Trump didn't hold back.

"Joe Biden's draconian and indefensible Electric Vehicle mandate will annihilate the U.S. auto industry and cost countless thousands of autoworkers their jobs," Trump said. [....]

"The only thing Biden could say today that would help the striking autoworkers is to announce the immediate termination of his ridiculous mandate," Trump also said. "Anything else is just a feeble and insulting attempt to distract American labor from this vicious Biden betrayal."

On top of that hypocrisy, Biden showed up at the strike with a motorcade of more than two dozen gas-guzzling vehicles.

So he's harming their jobs while glad-handing them, then showing he doesn't care about the very "existential threat" -- at least not when it would apply to him changing his behavior. He just wants you to change your behavior. He shows once again it isn't about the threat or the about supporting the UAW; it's about the control.

After 12 minutes, he was out of there, to a campaign fundraiser.

Just like when he flew into Lahaina almost two weeks after the fire, it's a hit-and-run photo op before he's off to the folks with the money he truly cares about.
