COMEDY GOLD: US Oil and Gas Association Nails Newsom on His Bad Spin During Debate

There were some good moments during the debate between Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and California Gov. Gavin Newsom. We covered some of those moments, including when DeSantis leveled Newsom over his father-in-law fleeing California for Florida, doing him in when it comes to education—and pulling out the San Francisco poop map.

But there was another point that the two threw down on during the debate that is getting more attention because of the response from the U.S. Oil and Gas Association. Debate moderator Sean Hannity showed that the gas prices were far higher in California than in Florida. Newsom tried to blame the high gas prices on oil companies' price gouging. DeSantis was having none of that, pointing out how that doesn't even make sense, that the bad energy policies in California are driving up the prices.

"California is the only one that oil companies are price gouging? Why aren't they doing that to Florida or Georgia," he asked. DeSantis said the problem was government-dictated green energy policies. Meanwhile, Gavin Newsom smiled the snake oil salesman smile because he couldn't rebut what DeSantis said with facts.

If Newsom is trying to audition to be a presidential candidate, he did not acquit himself well, when he can't be truthful and all he has to offer is a smarmy smile. As I noted, that may take in the media, and they may use that smile as a talking point. But most people can see through it--and I don't think it's a positive. Coming across like a snake oil salesman is not a plus.

However, the U.S. Oil and Gas Association had something to say to green energy Newsom about the importance of oil, noting its special importance to Newsom. It's right on the money, and it nails Newsom with some comedy gold.

Let's talk hair gel while this debate is going on.  Hair gel is made possible by petrochemicals and is usually based on polymers. Other components are carbomer, Di-sodium EDTA, Glycerine, Benzophenone- 4, Diazolidinyl Urea, Oleth-20, Aminomethylpropanol and synthetic polymer or styling polymer. The Gov may not like us -but he won't live without us.....

Oof, nicely done guys, and a brilliant play on Newsom's Gov. Hair Gel nickname. But it just emphasizes how ignorant Newsom is on the topic.

The editor of the California Globe, Katy Grimes, made the further point that it isn't just the hair gel; it's also so many other important things that the radical leftist position fails to consider.

But hey, why let reality get in the way when you're pushing policies that will destroy industries, the economy, and America?
