WATCH: AOC Hits Peak Gaslighting, Resurrects Mostly 'Peaceful' Defense for Unhinged Ivy League Protests

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY) and Joe Biden were both out in Prince Willian Forest Park in Triangle, Virginia for "Earth Day." While they spoke about the environment and my colleagues will be addressing some of that, one of the things that stood out was how AOC went right into a defense of the protests at Ivy League universities including Columbia,

I wrote earlier about Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar's gaslighting when it came to the protests, trying to blame others for "co-opting" the protests to give the police and public officials the ability to shut them down. That, of course, is nonsense and attempts to excuse the violence, antisemitism, and harassment of Jewish students. While she was excusing the antisemitism, she then claimed all they were doing was trying to stop the "genocide in Gaza" when there is no genocide in Gaza, when there is an attempt by Hamas to "genocide" the people of Israel. Then she claimed that by trying to deal with the protests, the public officials were inflaming the situation. The radical activists aren't the ones antagonizing things, according to her.

Omar's fellow Squad member AOC then doubled down on the effort to buffalo people on the subject, resurrecting the "mostly peaceful" defense that was employed by Democrats and media during the 2020 BLM actions.

"It is especially important that we remember the power of young people shaping this country today, of all days, as we once again witness the leadership of those peaceful, student-led protests on campuses like Columbia, Yale, Berkeley, and many others," Ocasio-Cortez said.

Peaceful? Is she kidding? The president of Columbia University just basically told everyone to stay home for their own protection. Jewish students have been harassed and attacked, including a student who got a flagpole in the eye at Yale.

Jonathan Lederer was just the latest student to describe the problem. He's at Columbia.

Lederer shared cell video that he recorded Saturday night, showing a protester on campus ran off with his Israeli flag and then lit on fire. He said after the incident, other protesters attacked him.

“They were pushing and shoving me,” said Lederer. “They threw rocks at my face. At that moment, my life was totally threatened. And there was no safety authority on campus.”

Since the protests and encampment began Wednesday at the university, multiple arrests linked to demonstrations have taken place.

It's no more "peaceful" than the actions in 2020 were. And she's right that there are "many others" underway or attempting to get underway, as the left seems to be trying to make this into a new "Occupy" effort, once again bringing chaos before an election.

Supporting these protests tells on her, and it's not a good look.

But leftists like AOC will try to promote the narrative, regardless of how little relation it has to the truth, to push the Democrats further on the issue and pressure folks like Joe Biden, now that they think they could hold their support over his head for the election.
