While Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid grin and gloat and continue to insist that they are going to shove provide Health Insurance Reform Health Care Reform through a Public Option Competitive Option for Americans because they have heard the cry for this reform from the minoritymajority of the country. Pelosi and company will make health insurance affordable for all… and to make sure everyone takes advantage of their benevolent efforts they have penned a little warning into their bill detailing the penalties awaiting those who might dare to not partake of their insurance gift:

• Section 7203 – misdemeanor willful failure to pay is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.

• Section 7201 – felony willful evasion is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment of up to five years.”

Hmmmm….

Maybe this helps explain the liberal’s push for all of those early release programs… They want to give a pass to those who have committed petty crimes like robbery and drug dealing to make room for the more dangerous and violent among us who don’t buy health insurance!

Oh… and home foreclosures are on the rise. According to a study conducted and released on October 15th by RealtyTrac (which compiles data on more than 90 percent of U.S. households), more than 925,000 borrowers received a foreclosure filing between July and September. That is up 23% from the comparable period last year. And car repossessions are on the rise too… as are the incidents of violence against those who show up to repossess said cars.

In the meantime, unemployment has reached 10.2%… people who are adding to the thousands of American’s our President tells us are losing their insurance coverage every day… 

“We’re not just talking about Americans in poverty, either – we’re talking about middle-class Americans. In other words, it can happen to anyone.”

Is this a promise or a threat?

Adding to this, America’s poverty rate increased to 13.2 percent last year… rising from the 12.5 percent of 2007. This means there were 39.8 million living in poverty in 2008, an increase of about 2.5 million from the previous year. And then there are those who are for the first time in their lives finding themselves standing in food lines. An increase of about 25% in the past year… Of course, the laps dogs in Obama Media aren’t willing to talk about that. You have to get that news flash fromthe English version of Al Jezeera’s  website.

Go figure.

According to Barack Obama, “The situation’s grown worse over the last 12 months.” (That would be the time since HE has been in office bringing all of that Hope and Change he promised) and he added,  “Its estimated that the ranks of the uninsured have swelled by at least 6 million.” 

Then there are the 16 to 26-year old Americans. Unemployment there is a bit higher in their group. 53.4% to be precise. They also make up the highest percentage of uninsured people in the country.

Thousands losing their jobs every day… increasing numbers of Americans losing their homes, their cars… and growing numbers of Americans living at poverty level and standing in food lines… and “the children”, (AKA: “the future”) unable to find a job… and on top of it all, every one of them will be forced to purchase insurance TOO… or pay a fine… AND/or go to jail…

Wait… Who were the ones the liberals keep saying this Health Insurance Reform Health Care Reform Public Option Competitive Option thingy is supposed to help?

While our First Lady hasn’t been allowed available to appear at any speaking engagements here in the United States lately… well, other than the September 17th trip to the Farmer’s Market a block away from the White House to purchase over-priced certified organic Tuscan Kale to promote healthier eating habits, for which (according to the Washington Post):

The Secret Service and the D.C. police brought in three dozen vehicles and shut down H Street, Vermont Avenue, two lanes of I Street and an entrance to the McPherson Square Metro station. They swept the area, in front of the Department of Veterans Affairs, with bomb-sniffing dogs and installed magnetometers in the middle of the street, put up barricades to keep pedestrians out, and took positions with binoculars atop trucks. Though the produce stand was only a block or so from the White House, the first lady hopped into her armored limousine and pulled into the market amid the wail of sirens.

Michelle Obama is now in Copenhagen to “raise up the platform of fitness and competition and fair play,” through a plea (to a group of people involved in the Chicago project) to bring the 2016 Olympics to Chicago. Of course, this difficult and selfless effort is for the financial health benefit  of Chicago Mayor Richard Daley and her Senior White House adviser and  consigliere, Valerie Jarrett poor/obese children who (for an absence of funds), find that, ”athletics is becoming more of a fleeting opportunity” and therefore “harder for kids to engage in sports, to learn how to swim, to even ride a bike”. However, she assured her congregation audience that, “As much of a sacrifice as people say this is for me or (my “dear friend” and “chit-chat buddy”) Oprah or the president to come for these few days,” it is but another day in her (and her husband’s)committment to the indoctrination … education… errr, whatever, of the children.

“As first lady, as many of you know, I’ve made it a priority to bridge the gap between the White House and communities across D.C. and across the country,” she said further and reminded them of how she has, ”spent much of my first nine months trying to open the doors to the White House to kids who might not otherwise see themselves having access to these institutions (or hospitals) because that’s where I came from – communities like that where kids never dreamed that they could set foot in the White House, let alone live there…And Barack and I made a point of doing the same thing when we lived in Chicago – making the concerns of kids in all sorts of communities our own.”… uhhhh… except for that bus load of kindergarteners from Stafford County, Virginia we turned away…. ’cause I didn’t come from there.

The First HypocriteLady made clear her belief in the importance of bringing the Olymics to Chicago, even as the people of the Windy City made clear the feelings of their own. She is confident that her “sacrifice” (unlike those being made by our troops fighting in The War We Need to Win… although being uncomfortable with the word, “victory” … ) will “let people know that we understand that sports saves lives, that it makes dreams come true, that it creates visions in kids’ heads to make them think they can be the next David Robinson, the next Barack Obama, the next Nadia Comaneci, the next Oprah Winfrey…”

Yeah… Like everything else….. It’s allllllllll for the kids…

As I type this our president is (again) making (another) public/media appearance.

Jeeze… Is this man so addicted to attention and applause that he cannot go one freaking day without getting another adoration fix?

Anyway… He is prattling his way through (what I assume he believes is) the ground-braking and unprecedented list of his accomplishments since his inauguration and, as I hear him read the list (from his teleprompter) I cannot avoid hearing him say something else…

“I am desperate…”

My grandmother once told me that, “if you have to keep repeating and explaining something it’s usually because it isn’t obvious enough for people to have gotten the message naturally.”

For example, one of the many wonderful things Barack has brought upon his fellow Americans, he describes how he has stopped the economic “free-fall”… Of course, all economic indicators object soundly with his opinion and polls indicate that a growing number of Americans “disapprove” and “strongly disagree” with everything he has done and is currently trying to do and he truly doesn’t understand that what he wants us to believe is his success in stopping our economic “free-fall” is what they (and those who gathered in hometown places and in their living-rooms) call “hitting the ground at terminal velocity”.

Barack Obama sincerely does not understand why we (and the rest of the world) aren’t cheering and fainting and praising him for his brilliance. He keeps admonishing us (not those bussed in to fill seats with his adoring audience of fans but the growing number of ”us” non-believers”) … “the time for bickering is over”… In other words… “SHUT UP!”

Obama is losing it. He reminds me of that guy who does that plate-spinning act… You know the one… the guy who has a row of tables with plates on it and those tall dowels sticking up… and he starts one plate on top then runs to the other end to start another one then back to the other side for another… As the number of spinning plates grows he has to start running to get a slowing plate going again and while he’s doing that, another one starts wobbling… and he scrambles back… and he quickly runs the entire row to give them all a good spin so he can get a few more going… but that first one is tipping and it falls before he can get to it and it smashes on the floor so he has to replace it with a new one while two others are ready to fall…

Well, Barack is good at talking about spinning plates but when it comes to the skill in actual performance… ehhhh… not so much. The worst part for him is we are watching… we see him failing miserably and people are actually starting to snicker and laugh… which is really what he hates the most. Yeah, his flock are trying… His pals in the media and his “ground troops” are out there doing their best to stage some honest to goodness evidence of real “grass roots” support for all things Obama while intimidating and attacking (verbally and physically) anyone who dares to disagree.

His numbers are tanking. He is losing supporters and those who remain are watching him spin the plates too… and they saw the people in Washington too… and the once faithful, beaming faces who believed in Hope and Change are not glowing with the same confidence.

So, why did Obama speak to his followers in the AFL-CIO (and to those at two other venues) today…?

In an article on My Way News, Philip Elliott (liberal AP jpurnalist who writes for the San Francisco Chronical)informs us of how the democrats are “playing down” this whole silly notion that a “public option” is a “make or break” sort of thing fregarding ObamaCare… and he also says this:

WASHINGTON (AP) - The White House and its Democratic allies on Sunday tried to play down the role of a government insurance option in health care legislation as the party in power worked to reclaim momentum on President Barack Obama’s top domestic priority.

His spokesman described the public option as just one way to achieve Obama’s goal of providing coverage to the estimated 45 uninsured Americans without insurance. His senior adviser contended the White House was ready to accept that Congress would reject the idea, though he, too, said it was an option, not a make-or-break choice.

Hmmmmm….

Of course… the “45″ was a… “mistake”… but so are the numbers the liberals and their pals in the media keep tossing around.

150,000… uhhhh, 3 Million jobs lost/saved… and then there’s that whole “can’t manage to show us the math” thing on how… exactly… they  arrived at those… um… numbers

And, we know they insist it only takes tens of thousands of people to  pack the entire mile that stretches between Freedom Square and the Capital Building in Washington to protest against Obama’s agenda… but you can almost fill The Target Center with almost 15,000 or uhhh… 20,000 people to clap and cheer in support.

He says:

There are uncofirmed reports of 1.2 million people attending to the Capitol Police.  If there is any truth to this number it will be a positive for the Tea Party movement but I have yet to see a non-partisan source report such a number.

… nor must he consider a video camera lense - “non-partisan” enough to be considered as “cofirmation”.

Of course, as liberals will do when they are getting beat by a better team, they begin to whine and pout and remind you of their equally formidable and impressive protests. Alex Koppelman from The War Room at salon.com is one of them. Today he poses the question:

How did the 9/12 protest crowd compare?

… and he goes on to give a list of their biggest success stories complete with… sources for estimates of each rally’s attendance…. none of which (curiously) come close to 2 million yet alone exceeding one million… and none have video footage of their proclaimed greater numbers managing to fill the path between Freedom Square and The Capital Building… but they DO have pictures… of… well… Jane Fonda… and one aerial of a crowd that doesn’t quite pack the same amount of real estate filled by the protesters on 9-12…  but “Reports” on the size of the  Pro-Choice rally ”varried”, much the way they are about the 9-12 event, with police sources estimating the Pro-Choice crowd to be between 500,000 and 800,000 while event organisers (like the American Civil Liberties Union and the Planned Parenthood Federation) put the number at 1.15 million.

This one is the most interesting.

After much complaining and tantrums over the origial 400,000 Park Service estimate, Dr. Farouk EL-Baz, director of the Center for Remote Sensing at Boston University, announced the results of the Center’s final analysis of the crowd size rose to 837,000… with a margin of error of plus or minus 20 percent. Of course, the number was an… improvement… but still shy of the Million they were aiming for…  and photos used to arrive at the 837,000 show the “crowd” barely filling the Mall… let alone stretching a full mile back to Freedom Square…

Well, we’ve known for some time that liberals have some difficulty with math… but this has to be embarrassing… and then there’s ACORN… and the whole undercover Pimp Thing…

There are things you see now and then… things you are looking right at… and you just can’t tell for sure what it is. “Pat” from Saturday Night Live for example. Man or Woman?

Maybe we’re asking the wrong question.

It’s like when I was six and I was asked for the first time that time-tested query… “Is the glass half empty or half full?” My answer? “What’s in the glass?” You see, that determines (at least for me) whether or not it’s half full or empty. If it’s something I happen to like a lot… well, it’s half empty because I’d want more. If it’s that chalk stuff they make you drink before that whole Barium nightmare begins… Well, definitely half full… TOO half full…

So, the closer you look at Charlie Crist, the more things seem to get a little foggy. Is he empty… or full of it?

He claims he’s a Republican. He runs for various political offices as a Republican. He seeks campaign funds from Republicans and he has been known to endorse the Republican platform… sometimes… It all depends on which way the majority of his voters (Floridians as a whole) are leaning.

Take the whole Drilling for our own oil in the Gulf thing. Charlie has been all over the map on that one and ironically, his “position” always (magically) coincides with opinion polls of Florida residents when he is asked where he stands on the issue.

In November of 2005 (when he was running for governor and Florida residents were predominantly opposed), Charlie opposed having oil rigs 125 miles off shore, “…I’m a gulf coast guy and I’m against it…”

In June of 2008 (when McCain, who also changed his position on the issue to take advantage of the national panic inspired by sky-rocketing gas prices, seemed to be considering him as his running mate ), that he’s “open minded” about a bill (HB1219, which would repeal the current ban on offshore drilling in waters controlled by the state ) that would “let” him drill TEN miles off shore.

125 miles… Baaaaad

10 miles… Gooood… maybe… I guess he’ll get back with us on that.

Perhaps Crist’s new attitude has something to do with the fact that over 73% of Floridians are in favor of drilling. He campaigned on the promise of significant reductions in the out-of-control costs of homeowner’s insurance and vowed to drop property taxes “like a rock”… He gave us a joke.

He promises much, delivers little, has few if any of his own ideas, has difficulty committing to something… Even personal relationships seem to confound him… He marries a woman and divorces her less than a year later… asks another woman to marry him… twice… backs out both times… then meets another woman and proposes in 10 months… But, in spite of his embarrassing performance (like Barack Obama) people seem too distracted by his dapper appearance and his ability to say things with a convincing voice that few seem to notice his failures and broken promises and his approval ratings stay amazingly high.

Charlie Crist is like a gallon of milk a week past the expiration date. We just aren’t sure, even when he doesn’t pass the “smell test”… Hell, there is even a fierce debate on whether or not he’s gay.

Well… now Charlie has his eye on the Senate… and (as highlighted in Erick’s post about Charlie and voting to raise taxes…) he’s breaking promises again.

So, Is Crist a Republican… a Democrat… or a RINO?

Crist is “None of the Above”. He more dangerous than any of those. Charlie Crist is an opportunist… Since the age of 10, Crist has been honing his skills as a Professional Politician, a loyal member in the rapidly growing party of Self Interest seeking not to represent “We The People” but to acquire power. His allegiance is to himself alone and he believes in whatever he thinks will get his foot a rung higher on the political power ladder.

It is the Charlie Crists of politics who are the problem with our government.

At first, Barack tried to wear the “I’m the new Kennedy” trick…

I might have been inclined to buy it… at first. I mean, he is just as inexperienced and just as naive… and I am quite sure his anticipated “talks” with the terrorist supporter/leaders of Syria and Iran will have much the same results as John’s “talks” with the terrorist suporters/leaders of the former (resurfacing) Soviet Union and Cuba… But there is one glaring difference that (I feel) inspired Barack to give up and face the factthat no one was really buying it.

Kennedy didn’t just talk about “hope and “change”… He defined the words…

We observe today not a victory of party, but a celebration of freedom — symbolizing an end, as well as a beginning — signifying renewal, as well as change. For I have sworn before you and Almighty God the same solemn oath our forebears prescribed nearly a century and three-quarters ago.

The world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life. And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe — the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God.

According to Barack, the “revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought” are “fundamentally flawed”. and “the rights of man” exist ONLY through the “generosity of the state”. “The Government,” according to Barack, is the only solution to the economic crisis… the crisis government created when believeing they were more qualified to determine who would and would not receive a loan.

is the polarity of beliefs when it comes to the defense of our OWN freedom.

Barack wants to surrender. Too many lives have been lost and, because we insist upon fighting back when we are attacked and standing up for those who are unable to stand up for themselves, he laments more of the low opinions of those who would celebrate our demise (as individuals and as a Nation) than of those freedoms they want desperately to destroy.

Kennedy issued strong words to those who would mean us harm…

We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution. Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans — born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage, and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world.

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and the success of liberty.

Barack says freedom costs too much.

So then Barack tried to wear Reagan’s shoes, but that was even shorter lived than the attempt to reincarnate himself as the new Kennedy.

John F. Kennedy pushed and had passed the largest tax cut in American history. Kennedy knew that only the creativity of unfettered free enterprise, only the good old American capitalistic system could do that. When faced with the economic challenges of his time… Reagan said “Government is not the solution to the problem, government is the problem.”

Barack hates tax cuts and believes government is the solution for everything.

Regarding Barack’s pretentious belief that he already stands right next to Ronald Regan in the history books of Our Greatest Presidents, Brent Bozell of CNSNews made this observation:

Barack Obama is an arrogant pretender to a throne he has not earned. He wanted to stand at the Brandenburg Gate like Reagan, grasping desperately for a chance to look presidential. But he hasn’t in any way demonstrated Reagan’s resolve against America’s enemies. Instead, this power-hungry newbie has stood in about seven different places in the last four years on the primary controversy of our time.

Mr Bozell discusses an article in Newsweek wherein they trivialized the courage it took for Reagan to stand as this lone voice in the middle of what was essentially enemy territory and demand that the Berlin Wall be taken down. You see, unlike Obama (and Kennedy) Reagan had but a small audience, “only about 20,000,” and even they were outnumbered by leftist protesters the night before. They “Even some of Reagan’s aides were embarrassed by the ‘tear down this wall’ line thinking it was too provocative or grandiose.” the article went on.

“Provocative”… “grandiose”… Yeah… The mainstream media said pretty much thing every time George W. stood up for what HE believed in rather than what was popular. Barack is more concerned with what others think about him rather than doing what he truly believes is right.

Now Barack is trying to wear the hat of Abraham Lincoln. The ears alone would not make for a complimentary look… but it is the sheer size of his ego-swollen head that would make the fit impossible.

Still, it is the opposition of their thoughts regarding the responsibilities and potential of each individual that demonstrates just how little Barack understands when compared to the brilliance of Abraham Lincoln:

From Global Warming to the Fall of The United States, it has become most fashionable to predict the future and call it “news”.

Perhaps reality has (to them) become a boring topic. I mean, with the increase in “fake but accurate” reporting of current events these days (or the advent of the internet, which has enabled us average folk to find the truth the “professionals” have been hiding) and the hastening decline of once powerful print (and televised) news organizations, what journalist wants to take a chance at being caught making up headlines? 

And what is the price paid by these modern day Sooth Sayers of doom?

Fame.

Al Gore Interestingly, in spite of the mounting quantities of scientific data proving that the earth is (in fact) cooling (and several Global Warming Summits have been cancelled due to ice and snow storms) and that the polar bear population is on a significant rise (rather than drowning and starving as they were supposed to be doing) he has won an Oscar and the Nobel Peace Prize for his exhaustive efforts to promote world-wide awareness of the pending doom of the planet due to the carbon emissions generated by the human population (and flatulent cows… and pigs…). and his doomsday followers refuse to let go of their hope (their need) that the world (as we know it) will end… soon… and on their predetermined schedule…

In Russia, they have their own Prognosticator of Certain Doom. His prediction is that America will end… real soon.

His name is Igor Panarin, a 50-year old Russian academic who has been for the past 10 years predicting that the United States will fall apart in 2010. He as even narrowed it down to the season… Summertime… More specifically in late June or early July. Professor Panarin is a former KGB analyst and is currently dean of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s academy for future diplomats.

Imagine that. A man who predicts the future fall of other countries makes a living predicting who will be the future leaders of his own. And here I was thinking only we here in the United States had it’s Al Gore’s to offer up some comic relief during these stressful times.

Mr. Panarin posits, in brief, that mass immigration, economic decline, and moral degradation will trigger a civil war next fall and the collapse of the dollar. Around the end of June 2010, or early July, he says, the U.S. will break into six pieces — with Alaska reverting to Russian control.

“Reverting to Russian Control”…? Do they mean, “reverting to Russian control” the way Georgia “reverted” to Russian control?

Another individual who has devoted his life looking for signs that the world will end is Frank DiMora. He uses Iggy’s nonsense as proof that the Biblical “End of Times” is upon us as he has been telling us for years. Even the National Intelligence Council (NIC) is getting as excited as Frankie Boy about this End of The World thing.

Although Igor admits that few took his silly predictions seriously, (that a complete collapse in both our economy and morality will trigger a civil war and result in the eventual breakup of the United States), he has recently found an eager ear, quite enthusiastic to hear more details regarding his little prophesies of America’s Fall.

And who are those anxious ears attached to… leaning with hands cupped… holding their breath as to not miss any of the glorious details…? The Russian state media. (the Dan Ratherov’s and Tom Brokawski’s of the once mighty USSR, you might say…)

Where, in the past, Panarin and his foreboding visions of America meeting its end were ignored, he is now being interviewed as much as twice a day. “It’s a record,” says Prof. Panarin. “But I think the attention is going to grow even stronger.”

Wouldn’t that be nice? Who knows, Igor… maybe there’s a Nobel Peace Prize in this for you too! I mean, the Kremlin has been blaming the United States for the instability in the Middle East… and everyone knows that everyone in the Middle East got along just hunky-dorey just until shortly after we declared our Independence from England… Right? And, of course, we are also to blame for the global financial crisis, ’cause Lord knows YOU and the other struggling countries aren’t responsible for your own problems. Let’s face it, Iggy, just as George Bush has caused all of America’s problems, the United States is the root of the Worlds evils and challenges.

Actually, the only reason why you aren’t still being ignored or laughed out of the rooms where you are now welcomed with open arms is because (like Al and his global warming minions who need an enemy to blame for all of their personal problems)… your views of America’s fall are only getting air-time because they are exactly the sort of BS the yutzes in the Kremlin and the rest of the America Haters want to hear right now. These Russians WANT to believe they are going to return to their former glory. They WANT to believe it is their rightful place to be front and center on the world stage, especially after the weakness and humiliation of the 1990s” when many were predicting the same fate for Russia, which you are wishing predicting will happen to the United States in a little less than two years.

Now China is on the End of America bandwagon. From the website, China View, Sun Ruijun and Bao Erwen discuss with much delight how the financial turmoil, which broke out in the U.S. on Wall Street in September, “showed its vulnerability” and will lead to the fall of the U.S. as THE Super Power of the World.

Would that be the same “vulnerability” being demonstrated by China’s crashing exports and sky-rocketing housing prices… which caused the need to cut back on fuel consumption, which is killing other industries in your country like delivery/courier services… anything that has to do with getting something somewhere by way of anything other than an electric bike?

Alternatively, Sun and Bao proudly remind us of how in 2008, after standing the test of natural disasters following the Wenchuan earthquake in May, (while the U.S was “acting as the world’s only superpower”) China succeeded in hosting the “truly exceptional” 29th Olympic Games in August.

They must have missed that “under-aged” athlete controversy… and that fake but  “flawless in image” of a lip-synching 7-year old who sang their national anthem… the fake opening ceremony fireworks… and the “eye-searing” smog choking their competition… Not even their media/internet black-out could prevent that kind of news from getting out. And they must have been napping when their government built all of those shoddy schools, which collapsed during the quake and killed 19,000 students and refused offers of help from the United States and other countries while they lied to their own people about everything… But we didn’t.

Sun and Bao also boast of how China sent the Shenzhou-7 spacecraft into orbit, accomplishing its first ever space walk… only 43 years after Ed White became the first American to do that at 3:45 p.m. on June 3rd of 1965.

Who knows, in another decade or so, maybe they’ll even LAND on the moon… and with a little luck, they might even have a man WALK on the moon and plant one of their flags… right next to the one we put there over 39 years ago.

Wouldn’t that be somethin!?!

Heck, by that time, we might even have a hotel on the moon you guys could stay at while you’re there!

It is also the opinion of Sun and Bao that we are “still deep in trouble” in Iraq and Afghanistan, which has “undermined” our “international image”.

Perhaps in their next Op-Ed, Sun and Bao will remind us of that time on earth when our ”international image” was that of “loved and admired”… You know… for all of the times we bailed the other countries around the world out of wars… and famine… and disease… and ran to their rescue and brought freedom to their citizens who were being tortured, raped and slaughtered by some ruthless dictator…

Yeah… Those were the days, weren’t they? I can still feel the love.

Sun and Bao also reveal to us that “some analysts” attribute the decline of America to its “policy of unilateralism” and its “expansionism on international issues”, and its “practice of a laissez-faire free market economy at home”.

Of course, they forget to mention who “some analysts” are and they fail to give specifics regarding those unilateral policies, expansionisms and laissez-faire-nesses and they don’t even bother to guess “what consequences” these policies will have on U.S. national strength. Of course, maybe what Sun and Bao don’t understand that looking out for ourselves and not asking for the world’s permission to defend ourselves is rather what makes us unique in this world and that it’s kinda “our thing”, our chosen purpose to bring that same independence and freedom to anyone else who wants it and that “practice of laissez-faire free market” thing… We call that “capitalism”. It’s how we grow so many wealthy people over here… This and those other things you hate about us are precisely what inspires just as many people to flock TO our borders as there are people ESCAPING yours. 

Or maybe it’s me… Maybe I am simply too ignorant, too fragile of mind to understand the intricacies and complications of these “truths yet to come”, which is why me and the rest of my mentally challenged friends must have these revelations translated to us by Higher Powers through our Modern Worldwide Ministers of Information (as we were through their brothers, Nostradamus… Edgar Cayce… Pat Robertson… Al, Iggy, Sun and Bao… Oh..  and… um… what’s his name…

I imagine they will simply sit there… and wait… with their collective fingers crossed and their combined breath held… hoping for the change… praying hard that their predictions of Armageddon will come to pass and life as we know it will end… or at least that the end of America will come soon, so that life as we know it will at least be substantially diminished so there won’t be as many witnesses left of them making blathering idiots of themselves.

Remember Betty Currie? Bill Clinton’s Personal Secretary…?

Betty became unwantingly famous during her time as a star witness during Ken Star’s  investigation and subsequent Impeachment Hearings against Billy-Boy.

Where some say she was just “doing her job”, others say  she was

knowingly assisting the sexual affair between the president and the intern.

Ken Star was a tad more blunt. He called Betty an “enabler”.

Well (according to a “developing” story on Drudge), guess who is now answering the phones in Barack’s headquarters?

You guessed it… Betty Currie.

Remember Susan Rice?

Back on December 1st, Barack announced his decision to make Susan Rice his new United States Ambassador to the United Nations. Of course, this is not the interesting part of that appointment. What makes it interesting is that Obama is going to return the post of UN Ambassador to “Cabinet Status”.

This means, Susan Rice and Hillary will essentially be “equals” in that both positions would basically serve the same purpose.

The question is, who will have more clout?

During the presidential campaign, some Clinton aides saw Rice’s early decision to back Obama as a betrayal because of her previous role as a high State Department official during President Bill Clinton’s administration. Rice’s desire to place her own team in Washington could fuel speculation that those tensions will carry into the new administration.

Insiders say that Ms. Rice wants to install her own transition team inside the department.

Such a move by an incoming U.N. ambassador is rare, if not unprecedented, because the job is based at the United Nations in New York, where Rice already has a small transition staff, the sources familiar with the incoming administration.

So, how does the Rice thing play harmony to the Currie tune?

Let’s just say there is a bit of a history with BOTH women that hasn’t quite been smoothed over with Hillary.

Rice was an early and avid Obama supporter and it is becoming clear that Susan Rice intends to use her position of favorability in the eyes of Barack Obama to influence him into granting her a more significant role than previous U.N. envoys,

Is Barack intentionally creating unfriendly territory for Hillary?

Oh… Guess who was the only other President to raise the status of the UN Ambassador to Cabinet Level…?

Yep… Bill.

George Bush stripped the position of it’s Cabinet Status when he came to office.

And Barack isn’t limiting his Cast of Antagonists for Hillary to females… (although, you must admit, the image of a Political Cat-Fight is in of itself worthy of a skit on Saturday Night Live… ) The presence of Bill Richardson in the new administration as Commerce Secretary  presents still another speed bump in any plans Hillary may have in cruising back into her former position of power in the White House.

Bill use to be a loyal Clintonite. During the Clinton Administration, Richardson was the US Ambassador to the United Nations (the position to which Barack has appointed Susan Rice). Hillary expected Richardson to endorse her.

There were some ham-fisted phone calls from Clinton backers, who questioned Richardson’s honor and suggested that the governor, who served in President Clinton’s Cabinet, owed Hillary Clinton his support. “That really ticked me off,” Richardson said.

The Clintons (particularly Bill) weren’t too happy when Mr. Richardson abandoned ship switched camps without permission and endorsed Obama.

Then again, Mr. Richardson has more than the wrath of the neutered Bill Clinton to worry about right now…

A federal grand jury is investigating how an investment company won more than $1.5 million in work advising the state of New Mexico after making contributions to the political action committees of Gov. Bill Richardson, President-elect Barack Obama’s choice to be commerce secretary.

“I believe in common-sense gun safety laws, and I believe in the second amendment,” Obama said at a news conference. “Lawful gun owners have nothing to fear. I said that throughout the campaign. I haven’t indicated anything different during the transition. I think people can take me at my word.”

Let’s break this down.

“I believe in common-sense gun safety laws…”

Yeah… Just like you believe in “comon sense” when it comes to partial birth abortion and the Born Alive Infants Protection Act.

“Prior to his campaign for president, his record as a state legislator and as a U.S. Senator shows he voted for the most stringent forms of gun control, the most Draconian legislation, gun bans, ammunition bans and even an increase in federal excise taxes up to 500 percent for every gun and firearm sold.”

“… and I believe in the second amendment.”

Well, isn’t that nice.

Unfortunately, where Barack claims to “believe” in the second amendment, he doesn’t quite seem to understand it’s purpose.

When the D.C. Circuit overturned a Washington, D.C., gun law that bans possession of handguns in the home and requires that rifles and shotguns be kept “unloaded and disassembled or bound by a trigger lock.” The law thereby effectively bars city residents from using firearms for self-defense in their own homes.

Obama clearly agrees that the Washington Law was an example of “common sense” when it comes to constitutionally permissible gun control.

“The notion that somehow local jurisdictions can’t initiate gun safety laws to deal with gangbangers and random shootings on the street isn’t borne out by our Constitution,” he said.

Barack’s Website USE to contain this little item:

“As a former constitutional law professor, Barack Obama understands and believes in the constitutional right of Americans to bear arms. He will protect the rights of hunters and other law-abiding Americans to purchase, own, transport, and use guns for the purposes of hunting and target shooting” (emphasis added).

And, isn’t it curious that Barack felt it necessary to take these words off of his websit now?

“Lawful gun owners have nothing to fear.”

Well … nothing except that he will make it against the law for ”lawful gun owners” to own or possess a firearm for the purpose of self-defense. The criminals, on the other hand, will have all the freedoms, which Barack and his fellowliberals can manage to obtain for them in a court of law.

“I said that throughout the campaign.”

No. He didn’t. He played word games. And the words he can’t excuse or dance around, he removes from his website or insists we interpreted his words incorrectly.

“I haven’t indicated anything different during the transition.”

Actually, Barack, you haven’t indicated much of anything… other than multiple displays of how to not say… or do… or to commit to… anything.

“I think people can take me at my word.”

Yeah… Like the time you said you quit smoking… and that you were going to end the war immediately… and that you were going to levy a windfall profit tax on oil companies… and all of that tough talk you made regarding lobbyists… and you were going to accept public funds…

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — For farmers, this stinks: Belching and gaseous cows and hogs could start costing them money if the federal government decides to charge fees for air-polluting animals.

Just as Harry Reid can’t stand the smell of Tourists in Washington, our Environmentalist friends at the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Supreme Court believe that “greenhouse gases emitted by belching and flatulence amounts to air pollution”.

“This is one of the most ridiculous things the federal government has tried to do,” said Alabama Agriculture Commissioner Ron Sparks, an outspoken opponent of the fees.

Fees = Liberal Code Word for Taxes

EPA officials insisted Friday that the lengthy, highly technical report, which mostly focuses on other sources of air pollution, does not include a proposal to tax livestock.

But the American Farm Bureau Federation said, based on federal agriculture department figures, it would require farms or ranches with more than 25 dairy cows, 50 beef cattle or 200 hogs to pay an annual tax fee of about $175 for each dairy cow, $87.50 per head of beef cattle and $20 for each hog.

Ken Hamilton (executive VP of the Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation) said the tax fee would cost owners of a small cattle ranch anywhere between $30,000 to $40,000 a year… a tax… FEE, the cattle ranchers say will would bankrupt them.”

So, we have Barack telling us he is going to bankrupt the coal industry and now the liberals are targeting the cattle industry…

Alabama Agriculture Commissioner Ron Sparks said he’s worried that the fee TAX could be extended to chickens and other farm animals… putting them out of business as well as more meat is imported.

“Who comes up with this kind of stuff?” said Perry Mobley, director of the Alabama Farmers Federation’s beef division.

Guesses anyone?

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota (CNN) — A missing envelope containing about 130 ballots has stalled the recount in Minnesota’s U.S. Senate race between incumbent Republican Sen. Norm Coleman and Democrat Al Franken.

Minneapolis Elections Director Cindy Reichert said she’s “not sure where [the missing envelope] would have gone” but that her staff is “in the process of looking under everything.”

Willacy County District Attorney Juan Angel Guerra had accused Cheney and the other defendants of responsibility for prisoner abuse. The judge’s order ended two weeks of sometimes-bizarre court proceedings wherein Guerra literally pounded his fist at one point and shouted at the judge during a routine hearing.

Guerra, it is said, ran his investigation, which he called, “Operation Goliath” with a “siege mentality”. He worked within the privacy of his own home and kept it secret from his staff and he gave all the witnesses biblical pseudonyms - his was “David.”

When necessary, Guerra would give false reasons for witnesses’ appearances so as not to raise suspicion in a courthouse he believed to be filled with political enemies.

Larry Langford, the mayor of Birmingham, Alabama was arrested around 7 AM this morning on federal criminal charges according to the FBI.

Langford was president of the Jefferson County Commission before he was elected mayor last year. Birmingham is in Jefferson County.

He was accused in a Securities and Exchange Commission lawsuit of taking more than $156,000 from a friend whose firm made millions on risky bond transactions with the county for a new sewer system.

Larry’s claim to fame is being largely responsible for raising money and generating public interest and support for a little pet project called “Visionland Theme Park”… which (for an adorable little touch of irony) also went bankrupt…

By the time Langford left his city office to join the County Commission in 2002, Fairfield had taken on several high-profile initiatives, including new schools, the civic center and its role in Visionland. But the city had also amassed considerable debt. And the main source of revenue - the sales tax - was shrinking as stores folded and left the city. Fairfield teetered on bankruptcy…

Then again, that was when he was mayor of Fairfield…. back when he was known as the (ahem) “champion for change“.

Some of Larry Langford’s political speeches might be mistaken for the weekly Bible study classes he holds at the Fairfield recreation center. In both, he quotes Scripture, talks about responsibility and holds the audience’s attention with his plain talk and quick answers.
