Although I visit you daily to read the many insightful and informative posts, it has been a while since I’ve posted anything here myself. But it isn’t because I don’t love you anymore. In fact, I cherish Red State as the very grounds upon which I gained my legs for writing political commentary and gained the courage to become a writer for Yahoo! U.S. News. Since there, I have earned the status of Featured Contributor in politics and even managed to wrangle a Rising Star Award (for page views) and a Contributor Award (for content) — the first contributor in Yahoo history to win both awards simultaneously. I am also in the running for their Contributor of the Year Award — a little achievement that carries a $1,500 bonus!!!

Anyway, as I am sure many of you (particularly Mr. Erickson) are already aware, when you have the audacity to report anything negative about certain candidates or issues — which are beloved by others — you open yourself up to attacks. While most of the offended parties confine their displeasure with your opinions to essentially harmless verbal tirades there are those who are so outraged that they go so far as to openly threaten to find you and basically teach you a lesson. My recent commentary in an article titled, “Ron Paul is a Dangerous Tin Man Who Has No Heart” (while attracting nearly 70,000 page hits in two days) elicited just that type of threat.

Now, while I will admit that one statistic mentioned in my Tin Man article was off (I said Paul had been a friend of Alex Jones for 30 years rather than 10) the information regarding Ron Paul’s long-term attachment to people of irrational mind, his denial that he had any knowledge of the racist/bigoted remarks published in the now infamous newsletters under his name and his belief that the United States should end ALL foreign aid despite the number of lives saved (while denied by his supporters) are all a matter of record.

So, after receiving over 5,000 responses to the aforementioned article (primarily of the childish, insulting and vulgar variety from Ron Paul fans) I was inspired to write another article, which I share with you now, cross posted from Yahoo! Voices (known formerly as Associated Content).

Three Troubling Levels of the Ron Paul Cult

An Observation Based on Personal Experience

COMMENTARY| While discussions of politics are well known to insight some heated discourse between those with divergent perspectives, never in my life have I seen a more vicious response to an opposing opinion than those displayed by the most extremely devoted and near cult-like followers of Texas Rep. Ron Paul.

Among the Characteristics Associated with Cult Groups posted by the Christian Science Journal, Janja Lalich, Ph.D. and Michael D. Langone, Ph.D. describe cult members as “elitists” with an “us-versus-them mentality, which causes conflict with the wider society.” Additionally, “questioning, doubt, and dissent” regarding the group’s ideology is “discouraged or even punished.”

Rick Ross, a cult intervention specialist and expert consultant says that the cult mentality has “no tolerance for questions or critical inquiry” and “whenever the group/leader is criticized or questioned it is characterized as persecution.”

A review of the comment threads on any article that is critical of Ron Paul, like the one written by Joseph McQuaid of the Union Leader, provides a conclusive display of the cult mentality.

In the wake of Paul’s failed 2008 presidential effort, an analysis written by Arnold Kling of the Library of Economics and Liberty and posted on TCS Daily discussed the cult mentality and the apparent inability of some Paul supporters to tolerate opposing opinions and the people who present them.

“I do not know Ron Paul,” Kling explained in his piece called Politics and Cults. “He may be wise. He may be decent. But to dismiss all doubts about his judgment and his character would be to succumb to a cult.”

In my own observations as a featured political contributor for Yahoo! News — and having experienced first hand what happens when you say anything unflattering about Ron PauI — I have come to the conclusion that there are essentially three types of Ron Paul supporters.

Harmless
Take “BenKramer” from Ohio for example. In the comment thread to my article, Ron Paul Is a Dangerous Tin Man Who Has No Heart, “Ben” wrote, “Hey Patricia You are a lying #$%$ take your ideas on Ron Paul and shove them up your #$%$ Ron Paul has the best ideas for the people and the wordt [Ben's spelling] for big government and the New World Order!”

While the title of the article is certainly provocative it hardly warrants such a vulgar display of insult and profanity.

Disturbing

In response to the same article an individual who used the screen name “Pammi” wrote a scurrilous little vignette of “delicious irony” in which she asserted that she use to work with me and “knew a little secret” I was “hiding.” “Pammi” then proceeded to spin a fabulous tale of completely unsubstantiated fantasy wherein I had been “successfully counter-sued” by my “employer” in a sexual harassment case” during which “surveillance video” footage and “eyewitness testimony” was used to prove that I was the one who instigated the “groping.”

As if that were not ridiculous enough “Pammi” concluded in her post from an alternate universe that — once I was financially destroyed — I became a “prostitute.”
Clearly “Pammi” was lying. Her post had but one purpose, to punish me for daring to question what she considers to be the faultless brilliance of Ron Paul. However, as stated in the Community Guidelines for Yahoo! News, respondents who “make false statements” intended to defame someone else risk termination of their Yahoo! account — including email — for their violation.

Pammi’s post was subsequently removed by Yahoo! from the comment thread.

Psychotic

This is the more militant level of membership in Paul’s cult-like following. While the harmless and even the disturbing variety of Paul’s supporters primarily confine themselves to using words in an effort to intimidate detractors into silence, his more unbalanced members are willing to engage in a concerted effort to actually seek you out with threats of bodily harm.
On Monday — in response to the same article that rubbed “Pammi’s” backside like a sheet of industrial grade sandpaper — my husband came across a query posted by someone who used the screen name of “John” on Yahoo Answers. The question “John” asked was: “What is Patricia Campion of the YCN’s Home Address?”

In his fit of rage after having read my article “John” was most eager to know whether there was “anyone out there” who had “more experience” with computer hacking. He further implored others to help him locate my e-mail address, phone number and home address and to post all of the information they uncovered in response to his post in order that he and the rest of his friends could pay me a visit and essentially teach me the error of my ways.

“BTW, in case it helps,” “John” added from the information he gleaned from my Yahoo Contributor profile, “she lives in or around Spring Hill.”

As indicated in the Community Guidelines for Yahoo! Answers, efforts to “threaten, harass” to “hurt others” or to “invade other people’s privacy” qualifies as “Violating the Law.”

My husband reported “John” and the post was subsequently removed. But typing the title of his post still reveals its cyber vapor trail.

Those who know me will tell you that I don’t care if someone disagrees with my opinions. As I have often said, where some ascribe to the theory that “great minds think alike,” I am more inclined to believe that the greater minds are those that have the courage to think for themselves. In the face of threats it is the stronger mind that rejects conformity and — where some insist that “resistance” to submit to the agenda of a group that has such violent intolerance of those who disagree with them “is futile” — I say resistance of such an odious mentality is absolutely necessary.

Well, there you have it. You might also enjoy viewing the You Tube video posted by yet another rabid Paul fan (who calls himself GodGunsGutsGlory4KJV) wherein he is seen sitting in his bedroom wearing his Ron Paul T-Shirt and a pair of unnecessarily large headphones (which I can only assume are supposed to make him look like a legitimate and authoritative talk-show host). Along with his awkward bouts of snide laughter and his telling need to repeatedly label me as a “media wh*re,” his frantic efforts to stamp out the Ron Paul truth fire is quite entertaining.

Clearly I have rocked the Ron Paul Cult boat… But I suggest the little denial darlings rest up and pace themselves.

On Thursday, April 14th a massive storm descended upon the south. By Saturday, April 16th an army of tornadoes had ripped through Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, North Carolina and Virginia. In the end, forty five people were dead and entire towns lay in ruin. On Monday, April 17^th, the president finally signed the disaster declaration for North Carolina to free up federal assistance to the state.

Why did Obama wait so long to authorize assistance after this disaster? The chaos ended on Saturday. Why not send FEMA in on Sunday? Well, on Sunday the President was busy playing his 65^th round of golf. His busy schedule also precluded our president from even visiting the storm ravaged area. Rather than comfort the survivors and offer words of “hope” the president believes his time would be better spent jetting off for a three-day fundraising/campaign tour out west.

Vice President Biden also had a scheduling conflict and was unable to visit the area. He was busy resting, taking a personal day at his home in Wilmington, Delaware. Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar was also too busy to stop by the tornado crippled region. On Tuesday he was in Boston to announce approval of a $1 billion dollar renewable wind energy project. The irony of that alone is epic.

This is not the first time President Obama’s lethargic response to a national disaster has come across as a bit disturbing. For 57 days following the BP oil spill, Obama remained silent. When he finally did address the nation, his inexcusably late attempt to prove his concern came across as contrived and disturbingly cold. Interestingly, then Senator Obama was highly critical of the Bush administration’s lethargic response in the wake of Katrina. However, even the people who suffered most said Obama’s response to the BP oil spill was worse.

Following the BP oil disaster, not only did Obama downplay the seriousness of the event, his administration actively slowed response efforts. The president also tied offers of foreign assistance in restrictive red-tape to thwart any attempts to clean it up. When the truth came out and the Obama could no longer downplay the seriousness of the event, the president changed tack. In full spirit of Rahm Emanuel’s lesson to “never let a good crisis go to waste”, Obama’s entire administration was unified in their effort to use the disaster as a catalyst to push its failed energy policies and their costly cap-and-trade/global warming legislation.

In the aftermath of the Fort Hood shooting Americans expected their president to say something. However, while speaking at the Tribal Nations Conference hosted by the Department of Interior’s Bureau of Indian affairs President Obama’s remarks about the shooting seemed ancillary as if more of a distraction than a matter of concern. The president spent his first three minutes thanking cabinet members and staffers. He even offered a shout-out to Dr. Joe Medicine Crow, the man he called, “that Congressional Medal of Honor winner.” It was the Medal of Freedom that Dr. Crow had won, not the Congressional Medal of Honor. One would think that the president would remember that, considering that he was the one who gave it to him.

“I planned to make some broader remarks,” he told the crowd. “But as some of you might have heard there has been a tragic shooting at the Fort Hood Army base in Texas.”

Instead of coming across as a somber Commander-in-Chief, offering words of reassurance and compassion, Americans saw an awkwardly disconnected and inappropriately jovial president. Even the left-leaning mainstream media and many of his fellow democrats seemed disturbed by his frightening level of insensitivity.

December 25, 2009 – Just he did with the BP oil spill, Obama initially denied of the importance of the Christmas Day terrorist attack on Northwest Flight 253. In his disinterest, it took the president until the following Monday morning to say something. “The American people should be assured that we are doing everything in our power to keep you and your family safe and secure during this busy holiday season,” Obama told reporters. Of course, “we” were “doing everything in our power” to keep Americans safe and secure that busy holiday season except for abandoning his own holiday vacation in Hawaii.

In the practice of not letting yet another “good crisis go to waste”, Barack Obama shamelessly used the fear and horror of the shootings in Tucson to score political points for a 15 point bounce.

After floods wreaked havoc in Rhode Island, the only reason why Obama flew over the state was because he was on his way to make a speech in Maine to again push the healthcare bill that American’s still refused to love.

While the citizens of Nashville struggled in their aftermath of the worst Tennessee flood since the civil war, Obama was golfing.

North Dakota – It was a full six weeks after Fargo Governor Jack Dalrymple asked for help before President Obama finally signed the declaration of disaster. Without that, FEMA and other sources of federal emergency assistance would not be dispatched.

As Japan’s nuclear crisis entered a catastrophic phase Obama was busy videotaping his NCAA tournament picks and we are told we’ll be able to tune into ESPN to find out who he likes. Obama also managed to squeeze in his 61st round of golf and returned to the White House with just enough time to grab a quick shower before heading out for a few laughs and to party with Washington’s social elite at the annual Gridiron Dinner.

With Libya and Bahrain in turmoil and with financial markets crashing, President Barack Obama went on a five-day trip to Latin America to again “talk” about rather than solve our own economy crisis in Washington. As exhausted and terrified American’s were being caught up in a dizzying onslaught of mounting catastrophes, Obama’s focus on “Women’s History Month” in his videotaped presidential address seemed bizarre and inexplicably out of touch.

With two years left in his presidency, just as Obama all but abandoned his responsibilities as an Illinois senator to run for president, now President Obama has left his responsibilities in Washington behind to launch his re-election campaign. As Americans in the south struggled to piece together their lives in the wake of the storms, another 5 Americans were killed in a suicide bombing at a military base in eastern Afghanistan . In the meantime, Obama chose to honor the 2009-10 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks and play another quick 18 holes of golf.
 

On Wednesday, April 20^th, as Americans in the south burried their dead, mended their wounded and tried to reassemble what the storms had scattered to the wind, Obama was busy having a quaint little town hall chit-chat with his Facebook pal and co-host Mark Zuckerberg. Addressing his predominantly young crowd Barack Obama talked debt and budget. “Nothing is easier than solving a problem on the backs of people who are poor or people who are powerless or don’t have lobbyists or don’t have clout,” Mr. Obama said.

Of course he failed to mention that, as his policies have effectively tripled the national deficit, they were now part of the “poor people” he spoke of. Yes, of the $14,327,905,784,397.38 in credit necessary to fund Obama’s gluttonous spending policies, every one of those bright yet oblivious youngsters sat with their $46,148.47 portion of the debt strapped to their backs. Of course, that load is growing by an average of $4.9 billion per day so their youthful vigor will come in handy over the next two years of his presidency.

“Obama is the golden child,” says author, speaker and networking guru, Peter Shankman. “It’s the rock star thing.” Maybe so, Mr. Shankman, maybe so. But for a Comander-in-Chief who told Americans on his inaugural day that “What is required of us now is a new era of responsibility,” considering the present state of disarray in the country – of which he is supposed to be in charge – perhaps he should start spending less time on the “rock star thing” and a bit more on that “being the president thing”.

You have to hand it to Scott Walker over there in Wisconsin. In spite of the mounting efforts of the protesting teachers and their Unions, and the members of other Unions… and children (being hauled there by their parents at the urging of the teachers and Unions) who are handed signs to carry, with messages (which they do not understand) and are paraded in front of as many cameras as possible… he (and his fellow republican senators) ain’t backin’ down.

This is impressive. I mean, in the days before the Tea Party, this is usually where the peace loving war mongering Conservatives get all weak-kneed, more willing to run away when their rights and beliefs are being threatened than to stand up and defend them. But Scott Walker is standing his ground… and he is winning. The people who are tired of being intimidated and pushed around are getting fed up with a lot of things, and I think that what is happening in Wisconsin is going to back-fire in ways these liberal idiots (from the president on down) do not (in spite of all the evidence which started this past November) or, refuse to see.

What is taking place in Wisconsin is a highly coordinated effort, all for the purpose of creating the ellusion that these teachers (and their liberal backers) have inspired a massive ”grass roots” event on par with the Conservative Tea Party movement. They are pulling out all the stops, spending a lot of money and drawing upon their community organizing repertoire to give the rest of us the impression that the efforts of Scott Walker and the Senate Republicans in Wisconsin to finally make public union employees share the burden of bloated city budgets is overwhelmingly being supported by the greater majority of average citizens who are funding their (higher than average) salaries and benefit packages through their ever increasing taxes. Even the Wisconsin Democrat Senators are showing their support, enacting their own protest against this farce of a budget balancing idea of Scott Walker by turning tail and running off to Illinois to avoid allowing a quorum to vote on the bill. Yeah… THAT’ll show those obstructionist Republicans who’s boss…

Yeah… The people of Wisconsin are gathering in growing numbers… and in a growing number of other cities across America… and they aren’t going to stop coming and they are NOT going to go away until those selfish, insensitive, greedy child-hating (yada, yada, yada) Republicans back off! I mean, lookat all of the people out there protesting… This is just like what the people in Egypt were fighting for!. LOOK at them out there… with their signs and their t-shirts… shouting out all of that violent, hateful rhetoric like, “KILL THE BILL!”… which, ironically, the Tea Party people were condemned for chanting when it came to a protest against ObamaCare and that lovely (not to mention, budget busting) “Stimulus Package”. Didn’t these get Obama’s memo on that civility in politics stuff?

Who cares if many of those signs and t-shirts are pre-printed…This is a spontaneous, organic, grass roots phenomenon, damnit!  So what if most of the people out there were bussed in from other states… some, under duress…and so what if the DNC is involved in recruiting people to show up and who cares if the president is sticking his nose where it doesn’t belong in an effort to fight against what the majority of Wisconsin’s voters elected Scott Walker to do… So what if those voters (as well as the majority of Americans) don’t support what the teachers (and all of these unions, and the DNC AND the president) are doing… I mean, who cares if the teachers are still getting a paycheck… while they are faking being sick… and getting fake excuses from Doctors (right on the street with no charge for an office visit) who didn’t even give them an exam so they can go protest and get paid to not do their job. I mean, talk about your free healthcare program. This is the freakin’ bomb! What taxpaying citizen WOULDN’T be down with that?

And so what if thousands of kids are getting screwed out of an education that their parents are still obligated to pay for. So what if those kids are going to be forced to make up these lost days during the summer… with the AC units cranking at the schools (adding to the electric bill… draining all of that precious energy…) to handle the higher temperatures and keep those teachers comfy when they do decide to go back to work… and so what if parents are having to re-arrange their schedules, often missing days at THEIR job (for which they do NOT get paid) to deal with the supervison (or finding and paying sitters) for kids who otherwise be in school and not at home… missing out on all of those new, healthy school lunches (which the kiddies are rejecting) which Michelle Obama is trying to force them to eat while she goes off to Colorado to mow on some bison ribs…

But a liberal will always tell you it’s about “the children“. Well, if these teahers in Wisconsin are so damn concerned about “the children”, why aren’t any of them addressing these points?:

With Schools Closed, special meals for kids have stopped. Aren’t leftists all worried about feeding poor kids? Do kids have to starve while teachers involve themselves in political rallies?

Many kids whose parents work will now be home alone while parents are at work. Why don’t these leftists care that kids are dangerously unsupervised?

Many low income families rely on after school programs to help their children. Now this help has been closed by the actions of leftist protestors.

Other families are now losing pay as they have working family members that are now staying home because their kids are not in school. This hurts families.

All the days that have been missed will now have to be made up at the end of the year and this will cost the schools even more to stay open more days. These extra days will also disrupt families.

Were the kids taken from schools to attend the protests last week have parental permission slips filled out? Why did the unions and teachers put the kids safety at risk just to benefit their own salary and benefits?

If teachers are claiming that they are all about service to the community, why don’t we just pay them what we pay our soldiers? They shouldn’t mind that, right?

If government is the solution to all America’s ills and the supporter of kids, how is it that teachers shutting down state government and Democrats running away to other states to hideout is helping fulfill that charge?

I tell you, I haven’t been this excited and felt this encouraged for the healing of my country since I saw the masses of Tea Party People gathered in Washington at Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor” ralley. Not only are Conservative American’s standing up to challenge and resist the freedom killing incroachment of liberal rules, regulations and policies… we are starting to WIN! Where we once placated them just to avoid conflict or being called names, now we are saying SCREW off! The answer is not only no but HELL no! The best part is the liberals know they are losing ground. They know we are stronger, that we outnumber them, therefore, we have considerably more power than they do… and they are backing down. Not only that, rather than ease up when we see them backing away… we are stepping toward them, pushing them, SHOVING them back even further to that place they have made the rest of us stand while we have been footing the bill.

Then I read the piece de la resistance. Not only is Senator Scott Walker “encouraging” the democrats to return to Wisconsin to do their jobs with words… in their absence, Senate Republicans have voted to make those who are hiding out in Illinois and want their paycheck come back to Wisconsin to get it.

Yep, the Senate Committee on Organization voted Tuesday (February 22, 2011) on a 3-2 party line vote to change Senate rules to determine that senators who miss two consecutive floor days can no longer take advantage of the direct deposit process and have their salary arrive conveniently into their bank account. Democrats who have already missed at least two consecutive floor sessions are now required to return to Wisconsin to get their paychecks directly from Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau)… on the floor of the  Wisconsin Senate. In fact, the new rule reads as follows:

“The majority leader shall provide the checks only to the absent Senator and only on the floor of the Senate during a session day.”

When asked by Sean Hannity if he (or his fellow Republican Senators in Wisconsin) are wearing down against this explosion of (fabricated) protest in his state, Mr. Scott had this to say:

I think our Senate Republicans, our assembly Republicans have only grown stronger. They are not going to be intimidated by union leaders from Washington or any other state. They’re going to listen to the people of Wisconsin. They elected us overwhelmingly, to balance the budget not only now but to make sure we make a commitment to the future instead of dire consequences for our children in the future. So, we are not going to back down. We are doing the right thing for the right reasons and in the end, you know, democracy means participating. We are going to stand up for the people.

With what I see happening in Wisconsin and across my beloved country, I am very encouraged. Not so much by the fact that the liberals are again acting like nuts… but by the fact that (along with the Tea Party Conservatives) some of our representatives are finally realizing they have a pair.

The New York Times Reports:

Senator Charles E. Schumer shipped $500,000 to Nevada in recent weeks to help Harry Reid, the Senate majority leader and Mr. Schumer’s political patron and close friend, as he fights for his political life.

At the same time Mr. Schumer, a New York Democrat, made out a smaller check, for $20,000, to the Democratic Party in Vermont, where the gift earned him the good will of Senator Patrick J. Leahy, even though Mr. Leahy is not believed to be in any serious re-election jeopardy.

Odd…

At the same time, the Nevada Democratic Party reports:

Today the Nevada State Democratic Party filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission over illegal coordination by GOP candidate Sharron Angle’s U.S. Senate campaign and former primary opponent Danny Tarkanian’s political committee. ***View the complaint here.***

The complaint aledges that, although Danny Arcanian lost to Sharon Angle in the Navada Republican Primary, he is now actively campaigning for her. Not only is HE offering asistance in Sharon’s campaign, Danny’s wife joined in calling hundreds of people to ask them to support Harry Reids opponent (gasp)… Sharron Angle. Not only that, Danny is participating in speaking engagements in support of Sharron Angle… And he is doing radio and TV spots and engaging in other public communications… In fact:

“Tarcanian appears to be working as an agent in the Angle campaign.”

Not only that… his expenditures have exceeded the legal limit not only for personal contributions to a specific candidate but to a political committee.

Their Legal Analysis:

“Pursuant to U.S.C Ruling 441a(a) (7) (B) (i), “expenditures made by any person in cooperation, consultation, or concert with, or at the requst or suggestion of, a candidate, his authorized political committees, or their agents, shall be considered shall be a contribution to such candidate”.

The coordination between Angle and her DC handlers and Danny Tarkanian makes the expenditures of Tarkanian’s committee – on radio ads, a website and numerous media appearances in recent weeks – an illegal in-kind contribution to Angle’s campaign well in excess of the legal limit of $5,000.

The New York Times says:

Mr. Schumer, one of the party’s most prolific fund-raisers, has distributed $4 million from his own campaign coffers to the party and his colleagues this election cycle, including the $500,000 turned over to the Nevada Democratic Party to help Mr. Reid. Mr. Durbin has given nearly $500,000 to the campaign effort of Senate Democrats, and has appeared at fund-raisers and events and barnstormed with Mr. Reid.

Soooo… can someone please explain to me why it is worth legal action to complain that Tarcanian’s efforts in support of Sharron Angle (“valued” by some democrats at well over the $5K contribution limit) but it’s okay that Chuckey has “shipped out “$520,000.00 worth of contributions to two democrat candidates over and above his appearances at”fund-raisers and events and barnstormed with Mr. Reid”?

In any case, this is a just another sign that the liberals know they are doomed. But Chuckey, being the good liberal vulture he is, has not only taken flight over the Nevada desertto circle the sky in anticipation of Harry’s political demise… he paid $500K to make sure he got first pick at the carcass.

Scientists Find ‘Liberal Gene’
Study conducted by researchers at UCSD, Harvard

According to scientists at UC San Diego and Harvard University, “ideology is affected not just by social factors, but also by a dopamine receptor gene called DRD4.” That and how many friends you had during high school.

The study was led by UCSD’s James Fowler and focused on 2,000 subjects from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health. Scientists matched the subjects’ genetic information with “maps” of their social networks. According to researchers, they determined that people “with a specific variant of the DRD4 gene were more likely to be liberal as adults.” However, the, subjects were only more likely to have leanings to the left if they were also socially active during adolescence.

So, in other words, those who are born with “a specific variant of the DRD4 gene” and “were socially active during adolescence” are “more likely to be liberal as adults”…

The Harris Poll  (conducted by Harris Interactive) reports that Barack Obama has hit (yet another) “all time low” since the incipience of his presidency… 37%…

It’s perhaps not surprising that nine in ten Republicans (90%) and Conservatives (89%) give the job the president is doing negative ratings. What may be surprising is that one-third of Democrats (34%) and Liberals (33%) also give him negative ratings, as do seven in ten Independents (70%) and six in ten Moderates (60%).

Another thing that is “surprising” about this news… the use of the word “SHOCK“…

I’m not shocked… Are you shocked?… I’m not shocked…

Considering the rise (and continued growth) of the Tea Party in revolt of this president’s (and his administration’s and supporter’s) socialist agenda and the blatant desecration of our Constitution and the pending ”avalanche“, which (even with all of the determination and money he throws at it) the “Spooky Dude“, George Soros himself “can’t stop”… Why on earth could ANYone be “shocked” that Obama’s latest poll numbers show further plummeting of his approval? Even the democrats and liberals (isn’t it interesting they see them as two separate entities – rather like republicans and conservatives?) give him horrid approval numbers… Even candidates in his own party are running away from him… Former supporters are questioning him… abandoning him… everyone, in every demographic are turning their backs on Obama and anyone who supports him… And his approval numbers have hit “a new low”?… WHY IS THIS A “SHOCK“?

Why don’t we start using more “appropriate” words… like… “Validation of What You Already Know” Poll or the… “Not That This Comes as a Surprise” Poll?

I mean, it’s silly to even think that there is anyone out thre who isn’t aware that the democrats are going to get their proverbial clocks cleaned on November 2nd… How else do you explain all of the ramped up/frantic/last ditch attempts by the liberal cheaters to undermine the pending onslaught of doom being wrought upon their party by the march of angry Americans to the voting booth by (once again) engaging in the (this time, quite anticipated, uncovered and revealed) democrat/liberal tradition of registration and voter intimidation/disenfranchisement/fraud?… AND THEY NOW THEY ARE STILL GOING TO LOSE!

Okay, imagine this scenario:

Bus Driver drunk… drives toward cliff… passengers scream “STOP”… driver tells them to screw off… refuses to stop… some passengers resist while others attempt to fight them off… the rest remain in their seats hoping someone else with save them… Resistant passengers see time is running out… they open windows, wiggle through small openings and leap from bus incurring many injuries but do survive their escape… Driver sees some remaining passengers now suspect they are in danger and as they attempt to flee the last few faithful passengers attempt to restrain the others who are escaping while Driver shoves foot to accelerator and drives bus over edge of cliff… Driver and those last few passengers who remained in support of his Bus Tour die in fiery crash…

Now tell me… Were you reporting the above story, would your headline contain the word “SHOCK” regarding the fact that this event produced some casualties?

Anyway… I received a gloriously “appropriate” e-mail today, which not only describes the forthcoming demise of the democrat’s control of congress on November 2nd… but the equally fatal consequences facing the democrats in 2012…

It reads:

I have written several posts on Charlie Crist, the governor of my state who screwed the republican party who carried him to that office in an effort to become my senator… so you know how I feel about him as a politician. But, while watching the latest debate between Florida’s candidates for the US Senate, I had to laugh as I listened to the hilarious and now familiar exchange between Charlie Crist and Marco Rubio. For a man who likes to remind us repeatedly of his skills as a “starting quarterback”, and compare them to the strengths of his political prowess… the poor little thing can’t manage his way past his own 20 yard line.

We’ve all seen the clip… we’ve all chuckled. It was fun to watch Charlie try desperately to keep Marco from gaining more yards, even trying to shove him out of bounds with accusations of steering tax dollars to a university and a hospital to secure jobs. Equally thrilling was watching Marco’s blitz through the holes in Charlie’s defense,  the biggest opening being that $13 and 1/2 TRILLION dollar deficit brought on by the very policies Crist supports… Poor Charlie, in spite of his best effort to block his advance, Marco just danced around him and carried the ball up the center for another touchdown leaving Charlie dazed and confused… yabbering something about “transparency” and having created some “Office of Open Government”…

Anyway, there was another special moment, the Hail Mary pass Charlie tried to throw over the head of Marco’s “ever shifting positions on specific issues” play.

“I remember calling a play in the huddle, and literally as you’re walking up to the line of scrimmage, you survey the defense, the facts and circumstances before you see where the linebackers are. And you realize there’s going to be a blitz; you’ve got to call an audible.”

“We know why the governor is running as an independent, because he couldn’t beat Marco Rubio,”

“I got pounded. But if you’re part of a team, you do whatever you can to win.”

Clearly, as a politician, Charlie’s perspective of the word “team” has not changed from his youthful days as a quarterback. Either way, when he is on a losing streak, “do whatever you can to win” means “play for the rival team”.

The Ultimate Play of the Debate? That’s easy. It was Charlie’s response to the crowd’s reaction after yet another display of unsportsmanlike conduct. He suddenly realized they were laughing at him, not with him.

“That’s the way it’s done. Welcome to the NFL.”

 ”That’s the way it’s done”? Well, maybe in the world where people like Charlie come from, where a man’s word means little more than say ”whatever you can to win”… So having observed Charlie Crist from the proverbial 50-Yard line throughout the majority of his snake-like political career, it wasn’t surprising to hear those words come slithering from his mouth. But what is up with that, “Welcome to the” freakin’ ”NFL” business?

You see, just as my grandmother use to say, ”You can’t get caught where you don’t go.” Likewise, you can’t extend an invitation to a place you’ve never been.

“Welcome to the NFL”… Good grief. That’s almost as funny as Charlie admitting in his campaign ads that, as a senator, he is going to “take the best ideas of Democrats and Republicans” to solve all of our problems when he goes to Washington. Of course, most people outside of Florida don’t catch that punch line. It’s really “an inside joke”. You have to live here to truly get it. But we, down here in the Sunshine State, do know Charlie… all too well. You see, we know Charlie a bit better than those of you living outside of our borders because WE knew Charlie Crist before he decided he wanted to step into the political spotlight. We know Charlie always has and always will mark his path through life with the back-and-forth skid marks of vacillation between opposing ideas and the reason he is confined to stealing the ideas of others is because he hasn’t the capacity nor the courage to come up with an original plan nor see one through on his own.

So, in the “here and now”… to all of you who may have bought into all of Charlie’s fairytales from the pages of his football “once upon a time”, gather ’round my children for I have a story to tell… a revealing yet cleverly hidden story, which you may (but most likely never) have heard.

You see, just as Charlie loves to talk much about his “accomplishments” as governor of Florida, Charlie’s musings of his success as ”a quarterback” are also nothing more than figments of his own imagination. The truth is, in spite of Charlie’s penchant of rewinding (editing) and replaying his own proud reflections as “the old quarterback“, the reality of his vocation as a football player is just as hollow and as uneventful as his career as a politician.

Charlie began his “career” in football while attending St. Petersburg High School and not only will Charlie tell you he was the “starting quarterback” during his senior year he was also elected to become president of his senior class! Yeah… he was very popular… and he was the star player too… and (even though there is little evidence to prove that Charlie was any good at football), according to Doctor “daddy” Crist, his son could “pass a mile”. Likewise, even though the Tampa Tribune  did  hail Charlie, Jr. as an “all-city quarterback”… oddly,  the only searchable reference to Charlie’s achievement of that status was the quote from the Tribune itself.

Of course, there are a few other little things you might find of interest, things that Charlie always forgets to mention when referencing his football glory days.

1) Charlie’s father was the team’s doctor and,

2) Charlie’s father was on the School Board… and

3) It was very well known that Dr. Daddy. had “more than a passing interest in his son’s athletic achievements”……………… and

4) Charlie’s daddy used his position on the Florida School Board to bribe the Coach with a job in the school system in exchange for giving little Charlie, Jr. preferential treatment as a player. 

Of course, Charlie’s daddy denied everything.

“This never happened,” Dr. Crist wrote in a column in the St. Petersburg Evening Independent.

And soon after Dr. Crist wrote his own column to clear his own name and that of his son, Coach Forrest Page was formally reprimanded and criticized for airing the dirty little secret his complaints through the press…

And what happened to little Charlie after that? Well, let’s just say his high school ”starting/all star quarterback” career was quite suddenly and most quietly cut short by a mysterious ”knee injury”.

After graduating, Charlie decided to attend the small University of Wake Forest, where he hoped to “extend his football career” and (in spite of that “career ending” mystery injury that sidelined his hopes of football glory in high school), Charlie says he became the quarterback for the Demon Deacons as well! Wow.., I mean, it’s just like in one of those made for TV movies, isn’t it… Don’t you just love happy endings?

Truth is, it didn’t happen. In reality, because his father had no influence over the School Board of South Carolina (nor was he the official doctor for Wake Forest’s football team)…. Charlie spent his football career in college as nothing more than a walk-on/bench warmer on the junior varsity practice squad……………………… Damn……….. No matter how many people his daddy pressured and paid off to kiss little prince Charlie’s backside in high school, in college he remained a plain ole’ frog.

So, unable to tolerate the embarrassment of being a nobody in the realm of Wake Forest, at the end of his sophomore year the spoiled little brat ”homesick” prince Charlie tucked tail gave up on his dreams of football, and returned to the castle of mommy and daddy. Then, after being the healed by the many kisses of his father’s many friends, Charlie packed up his much revived ego and decided to transfer to Florida State. He made the decision to return to college after visiting the Tallahassee campus “one beautiful fall afternoon”.

“There’s all these sorority girls out front, and I thought, ‘This is college,’ ” Crist recalled.

Yeah… well… That didn’t work out either. So, at the age of 23, Charlie transfered to Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama, where Crist finally met and married one of the “sorority girls” he dreamed of. Her name was Amanda Morrow, a member of Delta Delta Delta. That endeavor worked so well that Charlie filed for divorce after only eight months… Still, you have to give the guy credit. Where most who marry too young simply chalk up to a lack of readiness for a lifetime commitment of that level… Charlie made the best of it by using it as his excuse for failing the Florida Bar exam.

“I had come through a difficult divorce; it was a difficult time,” Crist said. “I’m glad I got a second chance.”

(pssssst, Charlie…. ?…. it was actually three chances… but who’s counting, right?)

Yep, Charlie loves to keep spinning those tales of his football glory days… and so does Daddy Crist.

“He could throw the ball 65 yards,” Crist’s father recalled during his son’s campaign for Governor of Florida. “He could throw it farther than the kicker could kick it.”

 Yeah… Charlie’s dad said his little boy could “throw the ball 65 yards”… “further than the kicker could kick it”…

No wonder he didn’t use the word, “straight“?

It felt good too… mighty dang good… except for one small thing…

As we pulled into the parking lot off of Forrest Oaks Blvd., where Early Voting was taking place at the Supervisor of Elections office, I noticed an odd little thing. Now, while I do not claim I am the brightest bulb in the political light fixture I do know you are prohibited by law to campaign or to solicit voters within 100 feet of the location where voting is taking place. Nor are you allowed to display campaign signs wthin that same distance… which was why I found it strange to see a massive canopy propped up with about 6 people sitting quite comfortably in their fold out lawn chairs underneath it’s shade… and amidst a litteral garden of campaign lawn signs for “Richard (Rich) Nuggent”. A bit further in I saw a large, white truck… with a billboard sized box sign for Diane Rowden that was so big it wouldn’t fit in the cab without the tailgate being dropped down… and it still hung free of the edge. The part no one else seemed to notice is that they (and a few other representatives from other political candidate camps) were not only within that 100 feet of sacred no-man’s land… they were well within 30 feet of the front door.

Section 102.031 of the Florida Statutes is the most important provision regulating polling place activities. First, section 102.031(5) prohibits “photography . . . in the polling room.” The “polling room” means “the actual room in which ballots are cast on election day and during early voting.”

Second, section 102.031(4)(a) states that no person may “solicit” voters inside or within 100 feet of the entrance to a polling place. “Solicit” means “seeking or attempting to seek any vote, fact, opinion, or contribution.”

If you are not inside or within 100 feet of the polling place, Florida law places fewer restrictions on your activities. You generally may take photographs and video and interview other voters (with permission). Despite this greater degree of freedom, you should take care not to make voters feel uncomfortable or interfere with the voting process in any way.

I took pictures of the political solicitors campground, (from well outside the 100 ft. zone even though I am only required to refrain from taking photos within the polling room itself) so this is as close as I was willing to get in order to comfortably avoid any “issues”.

Looking at the photo (again, sorry for the distance), you can clearly see the sign posted approximately 100 feet from the front (which is actually the “exit”) door where voters enter the Supervisor of Elections Office to cast their ballots. Then you see the white SUV parked in front of the DELI… (a most excellent pastrami on rhy served there, by the way.. if you are ever in the area). Beyond that is a car turning right. That is where the door is located. The object above that is the Diane Rowden Billboard-on-a-truck.

As I was taking photos and jockying for a good visual line without causing to much commotion, even from this distance, I still seemed to make a few people nervous. Even a few of the voters milling in and out of the door to the election office were looking at me, then turning to see what I might be taking a picture of. Then people from each political solicitation group began looking at the voters… then at me… then looking to the eyes of the members of the enemy camps… each silently asking the other… “Should we be concerned about this?”

As soon as I returned home I logged on to the website for the Hernando County Supervisor of Elections… Ms. Annie. D. Williams, and the cheerful voice of a woman named “Lisa” answered. I asked how she was, she asked how I was… and then I asked another question…

Me: “Lisa, I just got back from voting at the Supervisor of Elections Office on Forrest Oaks and I was just wondering if the people working over there know that there is a 100 ft. restriction on having political signs or soliciting voters?”

Lisa: “Why.. what’s going on?”

Me “Well, now I am not calling to rat out the people representing the candidates I just voted for because both camps are breaking the law.”

Lisa: “How close are they. Where are they?”

Me: “Well, I’d say well within 30 feet… but the big truck with the enormous billboard sign for Diane Rowden is parked within two car widths of the front door…”

Lisa: “Oh no, no, no, no… NO no… Thirty feet… parked…? NO no. Thank you so much for calling. I am going to call them right now and tell them they have to get rid of that. Thank you.”

Me: “Sure thing. Have a good day.”

You know, I am getting tired of Michelle Obama and her various condescending Wars on Food. From humiliating her daughter by talking publicly about concerns over her weight to her misguided crusade to impose her stringent dietary restrictions and preference in body shape on others, Michelle Obama is not “borderline” but has charged boldly across the line of absolute and utter Obsession. Now she is waging her personal war on the evils of table salt. Who the hell gave this woman the authority to tell everyone else that WE should stop eating ”fast food” and that for US “dessert is not a right” when every time I turn around I see yet another picture of her and her family stuffing their faces with hamburgers and freaking ICE CREAM!!!

She has expressed many times her utter loathing of “fast food”, lecturing us on how fattening it is… Yet, in an interview:

When asked about the President’s penchant for unhealthy fast food, Mrs. Obama was quick to put that myth to rest. “I love it more than he does,” she says. But, the Let’s Move campaign is “not about saying no to ice cream and french fries.” Having a piece of cake at a birthday party is fine, she says, as long as the majority of a day’s intake is healthy.

“… a day’s intake“?…………… Have you ever bothered to grab a calculator and add up the potential calorie count of what this woman eats in ONE MEAL? Remember The Obama’s first White House State Dinner? I do. As I said, I love to cook. I am a Food Network Junkie and “date night” for me and my man often consists of cooking a gourmet meal right in our own kitchen… so we are both quite aware of the calories involved in such meals. Did you ever get a gander at the menu of that State Dinner?

Let’s break that down in calories, shall we?

A year ago, Clifford Bryan of examner.com wrote his own take on the Obama’s first State Dinner menu. He explained that, aside from being the most expensive steak in the world ($300-$500 per slice) it is the fattiest piece of steak in the world, and the fat is unsaturated . Wagyu is one of the only serious competitors of foie gras for richness and caloric content. In other words, while eating this “melts in your mouth” steak, you will gain weight and have blocked arteries .

  Not that bad a trade off unless you are the first lady of the United States .

Conclusion: I found at least four  sights like Wooden Spears  listing Michelle Obama at 137 back in February which I find almost impossible to believe just based on the First ladies height . I would guess from looking at these pictures that Michelle Obama is tipping the scales at around 178-183 pounds .  A good weight for her would be around 169.

Regarding the menu, when they dined at The Sweet Life Cafe’ during their recent (additional) vacation to Martha’s Vineyard:

No word on what the first couple ate.

Though the menu portion of the website was down at press time, the pool reports that entrees cost up to $42.

Later, we discover that:

The President enjoyed beef tenderloin and short ribs while Mrs. Obama opted for the beef tenderloin and a lobster tail. The group shared four desserts including a creme brulee.

While dining at the State Road Restaurant in West Tisbury, (owner) Mary Kenworth declined to reveal what Barack and Michelle ordered for entrees but did share that their table “shared an appetizer of lobster tempura served with island corn succotash and a lemon vinaigrette sauce”.

Still, in spite of my lack of patience with this woman, I am beginning to feel deeply sorry for her.. and concerned. Even her husband, the president, fears her when it comes to his own food intake.

Back in March, just days after a physical revealed his elevated cholesterol level, President Obama was about to dine at Savannah’s landmark Mrs. Wilkes’ Dining Room, felt compelled to address the many reporters:

“I don’t want any lectures about my cholesterol. Don’t tell Michelle.”

In fact, Barack was so intimidated by what Michelle would do if she found out what he was eating (outside of her control and approval)… he refused to order until after the reporters were ushered out of the restaurant.

This is disturbing. Something is dreadfully wrong here… seriously and dangerously wrong. In nut-shell, Michelle Obama’s public fixation with healthy eating (while personally bingeing in private) can only be defined as a sign of serious psychological disorder.

It’s called, Orthorexia Nervosa.

The condition was named by a Californian doctor, Steven Bratman, in 1997, and is described as a “fixation on righteous eating”. Until a few years ago, there were so few sufferers that doctors usually included them under the catch-all label of “Ednos” – eating disorders not otherwise recognized. Now, experts say, orthorexics take up such a significant proportion of the Ednos group that they should be treated separately.

“I am definitely seeing significantly more orthorexics than just a few years ago,” said Ursula Philpot, chair of the British Dietetic Association’s mental health group. “Other eating disorders focus on quantity of food but orthorexics can be overweight or look normal. They are solely concerned with the quality of the food they put in their bodies, refining and restricting their diets according to their personal understanding of which foods are truly ‘pure’.”

Orthorexics commonly have very rigid rules about eating and the obsession about which foods are “good” and which are “bad” means orthorexics can end up malnourished. Their intense dietary restrictions cause them to feel proud of their “virtuous” behavior, they see themselves as better than everyone else, even though the concept of eating itself becomes so stressful that their personal relationships suffer and they develop feelings social isolation. I suppose this explains Michelle Obama’s interesting response regarding her feelings of being First Lady.

‘Don’t ask! It’s hell. I can’t stand it!’

Michelle Obama is no doubt utterly obsessed with Food and Body Image. She can’t stop TALKING about food and her fears of fat, and while she likes to talk about the virtues of healthy eating in public, behind those proverbial “closed doors”, this woman does some major, high-caloric pigging out!

In an article by Amelia Hill in the UK Guardian:

“Those most susceptible are middle-class, well-educated people who read about food scares in the papers, research them on the internet, and have the time and money to source what they believe to be purer alternatives.”

Deanne Jade, founder of the National Centre for Eating Disorders, said: “There is a fine line between people who think they are taking care of themselves by manipulating their diet and those who have orthorexia.

Preoccupation or obsession with food intake, body weight, and self-image is a form of addiction, often referred to as a “casual addiction” that occurs due to a person’s excessive passion over food.

Food addicts often try to keep what they eat a secret because they believe that they can eliminate the guilt attached to what they consume as long as no one sees what they eat. 

Bingeing. Uncontrolled indulgence usually happens after a food addict decides to go on a diet. After a day or two of cutting back, they will not only eat again but eat more than they used to.

Have you noticed Michele has been gaining weight since she started her War on Food? I have… and  am not the only one! A caller to Rush Limbaugh made commentary about being fed (excuse the pun) up with Michelle’s sanctimonious preaching about healthy eating while gaining weight herself.  Another caller followed later who agreed!

Remember back when all you heard about was “the secret” behind Michelle’s “inspirational” arms and how you too could get some? Personally, I think it was all a callaborative effort between Michelle and the liberal media to keep us from looking lower!

At this point I am convinced she needs to stop distracting us AND herself by lecturing others on the quantity and quality of their food intake and seek some serious professional help.

As the Tea Party began to surge upon the political landscape (and scaring the crap out of liberals), there came an “Newton’s Law of Motion-esque” prediction (predominantly from the left as a lame “warning” to those of us on the right) that if we continued our support of the Tea Party surge an “equal yet opposite reaction” would occur by a way of a phenomenon known as “The Third Party Candidate” who would take votes away from Republicans…. Ooooooooo

Well, while the prediction that the Tea Party Movement would inspire the coming of “Third Party Candidates”, the Ninny-Nellie Nostradomuses of the liberal left (and cowardly right), were wrong in their predictions of where they would come from.

While the surge of the Tea Party HAS fulfilled the prophecy of the dreaded Third Party Candidate… they are NOT “Tea Party Members” running on their own ticket… The are called “Independents Formerly Known as Republicans”… (or, more accurately… “The New Sore Losers Club”)

Lisa Murowski… although she hasn’t gotten around to making it official yet… (too busy stuffing her head down that hole in the sand called ”denial” I guess…)… Charlie Crist… Mike Castle… (who also can’t quite ”come out of the closet”)…  Arlen Specter… We know who you really are, and the Tea Party, amongst all of it’s other purifying measures, has made something else very clear. You are no longer welcomed here in the CONSERVATIVE Republican Party… Pack your horns and go home… and, as the Tea Party tide continues to beat against the political shoreline, the Sands of more Shifty Republicans like all of you will continue to be washed back to sea.

So, take heart, my friends. While some see the Tea Party Movement as some horrific storm lashing against the Republican Party, it’s a good thing… and the BEST thing about a really good storm is that, once it has passed, all that was weak will have been swept away and that which remains will be cleansed. 

After November’s storm we will revive and save our country from the Liberal Vultures who are circling the skies in ravenous anticipation of her death…

But do not feel sorry for them. Although they will not have the carrion of our Country to feed upon as they now “hope”, they will remain well fed with the carcasses of the many RINO’S we will continue to toss to them.

I just watched a fascinating video. I found it on Drudge Report… But apart from the intense photo of Barack Obama, what truly captured my attention was the caption beneath. It was one word… all caps…

PANIC

Now… Let’s break down the best parts of that.

First – His apology for being horse… He’s been talking a lot lately, ya know… bein’ back on that ole’ campaign trail again and all… and just because he looks exhausted and can’t talk very well, he’s “still fired up”… God bless him…. Still… it would have been kinda nice if he had apologized to the rest of us for having to listen to his drivel for the past 2… hell, (with 2 having been while he was ignoring his job as a senator to run for president) FOUR years.

And then he warns his flock that in spite of everything they’ve tried to intimidate, threaten, silence anyone who opposes their efforts to ”fundamentally change” the United States of America… ”The Empire is Striking Back”.

(Actually, sir. It’s called a “Republic“)

Yep, as he advises his loyal followers that while he and his liberal pals in Washington are losing fighting through these last two weeks before the Mid-Term elections,  “… the same special interests… that would profit from the other side’s agenda….? They’re fightin’ back.”

Man… while waiting for November 2nd I feel like we’re a bunch of kids stuck in the back-seat of a car during a family road trip…

In February of 2007, (having only served his constituents in Illinois for less than two years) Senator Obama announced he would seek the 2008 Democratic nomination for President of the United States. To what has become the all to familiar chants of his name, “Obama! Obama!,” he addressed the thousands who were packed into the town square in Springfield, Illinois:

“It was here, in Springfield, where North, South, East and West come together that I was reminded of the essential decency of the American people — where I came to believe that through this decency, we can build a more hopeful America.”

While trivializing the importance of his lack of federal experience he focused instead on his (equally trivial, if not totally ambiguous) record on the state and local level, and he talked about the need to change Washington, to set priorities, and how there was a need to send someone to the White House who had the courage to “make hard choices.”

“What’s stopped us is the failure of leadership, the smallness of our politics – the ease with which we’re distracted by the petty and trivial, our chronic avoidance of tough decisions.”

Unfortunately, when it came to actually making “tough choices” Barack Obama was then (as he is now) the leader of the “chronic avoidance” parade.

In 1997, Senator Obama voted “present” on both HB 382 and SB 230, two bills that would have prohibited “partial birth abortion”. In his book, “Audacity of Hope”, Barack explained that his “problem” with ”born alive” bills, was they threatened to overturn Roe v. Wade…

In 1999, Illinois Senator, Barack Obama, voted “present” on SB 759, a bill that required mandatory adult prosecution for firing a gun on or near school grounds. The bill passed the state Senate 52-1. That same year, Obama voted “present” again on HB 854, a bill that protected the privacy of sex-abuse victims by allowing petitions to have the trial records sealed. He was the only senator who did not support the bill.

In 2001, Obama voted “present” on another pair of bills (HB 1900 and SB 562), which would have required parental notification for a minor to receive and abortion bills and he again voted “present” on a series of bills (SB 1093, 1094, 1095) that sought to protect a newborn if it (by some miracle) survived a failed abortion.

If fact, Obama took to the senate floor to argue adamantly against The Induced Infant Liability Act  claiming it was “unconstitutional” to force doctors to save the lives of children who survived the attempt to kill them in the womb… Yet when it came time to vote, for a man who felt so strongly about defending a woman’s right to kill her unborn child and protecting his own daughters from being “punished with a baby”, it is rather striking that each time he had the opportunity to pass legislation to accomplish these goals, he repeatedly voted “present” instead of “no. 

  ”… the smallness of our politics”?…………….. “through this decency, we can build a more hopeful America” ?

Well, here we are in 2010. Barack Obama has been president for just shy of two years… and during this time (between Tee-Times, Parties, Vacations and his return to the campaign trail) he has demonstrated the same work ethic (or rather, the lack thereof) he put forth as an Illinois senator.

In February, Barack Obama said:

“The politics of dealing with chronic deficits is fraught with hard choices, and therefore, it’s treacherous to officeholders here in Washington. As a consequence, nobody has been too eager to deal with it.”

Then, (just as he voted “present” as a senator) he (now as President) proved he didn’t want to “deal with it” either by handing off the “hard choices” to a commission.

 When he introduced his 2011 budget proposal on Feb. 1, Obama said:

“We can no longer afford to leave the hard choices for the next budget, the next administration or the next generation.”

But six months later, the jittery and deeply unpopular democrat controlled Congress bolted for the campaign trail without finishing this most basic responsibilities of their job.

Now, like voting “present” as a senator, Obama has become fond of another stealthy little method of avoiding his responsibility (as president) to “make hard choices” (or facing criticism for actually making a decision). It’s called, “the pocket veto”. The only problem is… the man who claims to have been a Constitutional Law Professor and has been called not only ”The Smartest President” but “The Greatest President” in History…. doesn’t seem to know what the hell he is doing.

Back in December of 2009, while Congress was in recess, Mr. Obama announced he was exercising a “pocket veto” to kill a stopgap spending bill, which Congress had approved on December 19th. A ”pocket veto” is a process outlined in the Constitution by which the president simply refuses to sign a bill sent to his desk while congress is adjourned and said bill is effectively killed.

But, in order to “leave no doubt that the bill is being vetoed,” Mr. Obama also issued a regular veto and returned the bill to Congress. According to Mr. Robert Spitzer, Distinguished Service Professor and Chairman of the Political Science Department at State University of New York at Cortland and author the book “The Presidential Veto”, The Constitution “simply doesn’t give the president a multiple-choice option” on how to veto a bill.. Mr. Spitzer went further with his verbal spanking of the president by saying that “mixing the pocket veto with the regular veto ” amounted to nothing more than a “presidential power grab” designed to give himself “absolute veto power that could be used anytime Congress is not in session”.

Well, either Obama didn’t learn his lesson the first time or he hoped the American people weren’t paying attention the second time because… he did it again… and the controversy surrounding Obama’s 2nd “pocket veto” (of a bill most commonly known as “Foreclosuregate“) is again proving to be more contentious than the legislation itself.

As explained in the New York Times:

The distinction between a pocket veto and a regular veto goes to the fundamental Constitutional balance of powers zealously guarded by both branches. A pocket veto kills legislation outright, giving the president the final say; a regular veto allows Congress the last word if two-thirds of the House and Senate vote to override the veto and make the bill law.

and…

Knowing that Congress would soon return for a lame-duck session, Mr. Obama nevertheless claimed to have killed the bill merely by withholding his signature — the pocket veto. But at the same time he sent it back to Congress, like a regular veto subject to reversal.

In The Huffington Post… today… Sunday – October 17, 2010…. Mr. Spitzer has again dragged Barack Obama back behind the Constitutional Ethics wood shed for another sound and extremely detailed verbal beating. In an editorial written and directed squarely at the president himself, Mr. Spitzer wrote:

“… if your intention to utilize a so-called “protective return” pocket veto (where the president returns the bill to Congress, but calls it a pocket veto not subject to override), as you did for the only other bill you have vetoed as president, that procedure is plainly extra-constitutional, utterly suspect, and completely unnecessary. The Constitution does not give presidents the option of choosing, or worse inventing, a veto method. Repeating that mistake would be worse than no veto at all.”

There is a reason why Senator Obama trivialized the importance of his federal experience during his campaign to become president. It’s because his experience was (and still is) trivial. During the presidential campaign, his opponent for the democratic nomination, Hillary Clinton, tried to warn voters that the office of President was not a place for “on the job training”. They didn’t listen.

After he won the democratic nomination, then Gov. Sarah Palin again questioned Obama’s experience, reminding voters that he had only served for ” 300 days “ as a senator before he became a presidential candidate.” And, although the secretary of the U.S. Senate validated that the numbers were correct, CNN reviewed the facts of Palin’s accusation and came to their own conclusion.

The Verdict: Misleading. Palin failed to give credit for Obama’s work on days when the Senate was not meeting.

Yeah… I’ll give Obama “credit” for all of the (mythical) work he did during his time off as a Senator… the same way I’ll give him credit for the work he does while golfing, playing basketball, attending parties, going on multiple vacations and returning to the endorsement for fellow liberals/fund raising/my own 2012 re-election campaign trail as President.

Still, Obama’s time away from the White House seems to be less dangerous to our Country than when he is “present”.

 
The best way to increase your approval ratings and remain in office during a bad election cycle is to avoid the inconvenient questions of your constituents might want to ask regarding your agenda to screw up their lives.

Yep… Not only are the liberals forcing us to fund job/freedom killing policies we do not want, they are making us pay for studies on how to avoid answering our questions of “why” in order to stay in office to continue screwing us…. Yay!

In June, The New York Times reported:

With images of overheated, finger-waving crowds still seared into their minds from the discontent of last August, many Democrats heeded the advice of party leaders and tried to avoid unscripted question-and-answer sessions. The recommendations were clear: hold events in controlled settings — a bank or credit union, for example — or tour local businesses or participate in community service projects.

In August, democrat leaders advised their members to avoid discussion of ObamaCare and Human Events reported that a survey conducted by the National Republican Congressional Committee revealed that out of 75 Democratic House members who are targeted for defeat by the GOP, 65 of them had not scheduled a town hall meeting with their constituents. A website out of Arizona reports how democtrat incumbent Harry Mitchell is avoiding town halls and won’t post a public schedule on his website in order to avoid his constituents. Although his website has a tab where you can apply to Host an Event with Harry, claiming that “Harry wants to meet your friends, neighbors, family and colleagues and talk about what issues are important to them” there are no signs that anyone has applied or that Harry has accepted any invitations to meet those friends, neighbors, family and colleagues” to actually talk about said “important” issues.

Hell, Nancy Pelosi won’t even make time to debate her challenger John Dennis because her job is to get her democratic candidates on TV and to “elect a democratic congress”… not to debate annoying things like “issues” with her republican challenger… or to speak before her constituents to address their concerns or to represent their will.

Well, I guess that study regarding Town Hall Meetings and Democracy in the 21st Century must have worked because haven’t heard squat during this pre-midterm election cycle… which brings me to this video clip… which is probably as close to the truth as we are ever going to get regarding the lack of face-time with our hard working liberal representatives in congress…

I guess we know now why Clint Howard can’t land so many rolls in the liberal business called Hollywood… outside of bit parts in his (Obama supporting) brother Ron’s movies anyway…

In my last post I discussed how Barack and his minions are dusting off the old 2008 campaign tactics in a (clearly failing) attempt to paddle against the current that has their party circling the political toilet bowl. Free concerts are again giving the illusion that Barack can still draw large crowds… People are fainting in his presence again… and his ACORN-esque foot soldiers are out in full force again faking IDs and voter registrations and their hate-filled bloggers at D-Kos and MoveOn are once again waging cyber-warfare against the republican party and singling out conservative candidates for not only political but personal character assassination…

But there is a notable difference in their tone this election cycle. The angry and often illegal methods of challenging and intimidating those who oppose liberals and their agenda are getting louder… more frantic… more violent. Where they once confined their activist antics to childish protest chants and “bloody hands” performance art, they are becoming more and more comfortable with threatening and carrying out acts of physical violence against anyone who does not conform to their increasingly socialist schema.

Then again, they never had to deal with The Tea Party before.

For the most part, conservatives are a peaceable people. We are more of the “turn the other cheek” mold than the “scream at them/call them names and if that doesn’t work beat them over the head with a stick” sort when it comes to interacting with someone who holds different beliefs than our own. Yes, we own guns… but for us, these weapons are to keep the peace and defend those things we hold dear… not to take them from someone else. And, for the most part… this drive, this most basic survival instinct, this inherent reflex to act in order to protect those things we love is what gave birth to the Tea Party Movement.

After all…. 

Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Now, with all of that said I want to get something off my chest right here and now. While being a “cheek-turning” conservative who would rather walk away from a liberal idiot rather than frustrate the hell out of myself with the fallasy that, if I just talk to them patiently and present evidence to support my cause, they will somehow magically gain the capacity of reason… It is a waste of time. I need that time to stand guard. But while I realize I need to be vigilant, paying attention as their desperation levels are rising to such a dangerous level that I am aware of the very real threat that physical harm may come to me for the simple act of showing up to vote at some liberal targeted voting precinct in November… my “line in the sand” is when they engage in the unforgiveable strategy of screwing our Military out of their Constitutional right to vote. Go ahead, call me names, stand your thugs at the doors where I vote and threaten me with “hell” and ”hand-to-hand combat” if you lose… but don’t you dare go there. If you self-centered reality illiterates on the left think the people in the Tea Party are just a bunch of angry, bitter clingers who are violently opposing the systematic destruction of the foundation upon which our Country was built… Just go ahead… Try to screw the brave men and women who lay their lives on the line to DEFEND that foundation… You think we’re mad now?…………………You ain’t seen NOTHIN’ yet.

As you all know, (while dusting off the “free concert/fainting fans/fraudulent voter registration” tactics that helped them achieve victory in 2008… the liberals are pulling yet another 2008 tactic from their dirty bag of desperate tricks… They are once again trying to screw our Military out of their Constitutional Right to vote by way of absentee ballot. Never mind that our Military overseas tends to vote overwhelmingly for Republicans and rest assured that this maneuver has nothing to do with the anticipated November ”avalanche” from which even George Soros has the sense to get out of the way… But, isn’t it ironic that it’s always when the democrats are in charge that those absentee ballots never seem to make it out on time?

Now, while the “particulars”, which lead to this elections (intentional) screw-ups in getting absentee ballots out to our Military are sill being investigated… Let’s just look at what happened back in 2008 to gain some perspective on just how such a repetitious oversight could possibly be intentionally orchestrated happen again.

Let’s go back in time…. We are in Virginia… 2008. Remember? Barack Obama was running for president and the liberals had taken over both the House and the Senate just two years prior. Back then, a democrat named Jean Cunningham was head of the Virginia Election Board and, by golly if those darn ballots just didn’t seem to make it out on time then either.

John McCain and Sarah Palin filed a lawsuit to extend the amount of time. But Jean didn’t want to hear about it. To her, giving the brave men and women who were laying their lives on the line in defense of our Country extra time to make up for HER failure to get their ballots out was an inconvenience. It was an annoyance to her really… and she even hired an attorney to fight the suit. But she and the Virginia election board chose not to seek representation by the Virginia Attorney General.  Nope, they chose Robert Dybing (A Republican donor) from the a private law firm of Thompson/McMullen in Richmond, Virginia. Yes indeed. Instead of doing everything she could to enfranchise these honorable and brave voters of the United States Fighting Forces, little miss Cunningham asked that the case simply be dismissed. The reason why Jean filed a Motion to Dismiss…? She didn’t believe that provisions in the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act required states to “mail out absentee ballots in time for voters to receive them prior to the election because voters can use a federal write in absentee ballot if they do not receive their state ballot.”

Yeah, according to Jean, while our Troops were over “there” fighting a war and trying not to get shot every day, they should have marked their calendars and used their copious free time to obtain a “federal write in absentee ballot” on their own rather than depending on a state worker to remember to get one out to them on time… ’cause Lord knows those federal office workers are SO much more efficient when it comes to follow ups on a form request than they are at following the same procedures that happen on a regular, scheduled basis every 2 to 4 years…

So… Jean Cunnigham (a democrat) was head of Virginia Election Board and refused the services of the Virginia Attorney General to represent her in the case against her and her peeps… Who was the Virginia Attorney General in 2008 that Jean Cunningham decided not to use to represent her case?… Bob Mcdonnell… And guess who Bob McDonnell replaced as Governor (after he defeated democratic candidate Creigh Deeds) because term limits precluded him from running again)? Tim Kaine… And guess whose gubernatorial campaign Jean “Screw the Military out of their Constitutional Right to Vote” Cunningham donated $125.00 to in 2005?… Tim Kaine.

And guess who else donated money to Tim Kaine while he was still Governor of Virginia? A little group called “Obama for America”. In fact, ”Obama for America” was the Top Donor for Timmy in ”Gifts, Travel or Honoraria” that year. They gave him $38,610.00, to be specific… $11,443.00 on New Year’s Day alone.  

Of course, in Virginia, “Gifts” are not considered to be campaign contributions and Virginia law allows politicians to receive “gifts” intended for their “personal benefit”. Odd thing though… that Timmy didn’t disclose exactly where he went… or for what reason. Nor did “Obama for America” ever disclose where they got the money to GIVE to Timmy in the fist place.

Now, just so we can come full-circle here and connect all of those strange dots? “Obama for America” was the title given to Obama’s 2008 political campaign… After Obama won the election in 2008, they merged with the National Democratic Committee to become, Organizing for America… And guess who was one of the top contenders to be then President-elect Barack Obama’s running mate and was instead chosen by Barack himself to take over as chairman of the Democratic National Committee?……………………………….Tim Kaine.

Ain’t that a hoot?

Back then, Obama had been raising campaign cash for two political pots at the same time, his Senate re-election committee, and his bid for the presidency. Although he “banned” his senate campaign money from being used for his presidential 2008 race,” Obama ” took in more than $1 million dollars generated  from political action committees and lobbyists anyway and, in the end, he threw it all into one big-fat war chest for his “Hopey/Changey” White House bid. Clever, no?

Now… Guess whose name is back in the news… He is one of the many liberals out there accusing The Chamber of Commerce of the “criminal act” of accepting and donating foreign money to be used in the political campaigns of their favorite candidates………………………. Tim Kaine…

And about that promise not to “accept public funds”?

On February 1, 2007, Barack Obama, through his Obama Exploratory Committee, asked^[1] the Federal Election Commission “whether, if Senator Obama becomes a candidate, [may he] provisionally raise funds for the general election but retain the option, upon nomination, of returning these contributions and [accept] the public funds for which he would be eligible as the Democratic Party’s nominee.”

Well, we all know Obama took public funds and so far, there are no records of Obama returning ANY money he received in both processes, foreign or otherwise.

So, here we are, in 2010 and while the liberals in Illinois are pulling another “Jean Cunningham” on our Troops, we have Obama henchmen like Tim Kaine (the Chairman of the National Democratic Committee/Organizing for America - formerly known as “Obama for America”) who was hand picked by Barack The King Of Illegal Foreign Contributions Obama, himself, accusing The Chamber of Commerce (with no proof) of engaging in the same ”foreign contribution” tactics, which they perfected themselves in 2008.

Now… allow me to reiterate my message to you slithering little cowards on he left.

Where the “flood” of the Tea Party has been accumulating by way of “scattered” showers until now… keep screwing with our Military and watch the bottom fall out to send the full force of our fed-up deluge down on your collective heads all at once. 

I am sitting here watching the rescue attempts to finally extract the Miners who have been trapped a half mile below the surface of the earth for the and I am prying for the smooth running of their pending freedom. I am also proud… proud of the American efforts making this moment possible. It was an American who was singled out to drill the access hole into which the rescue cage will be lowered to lift them out. It was NASA who provided the high calorie drinks, which the miners have been living on to better insure that their physical conditions would be better tolerant of what will be a physically stressful event… and then I began thinking of all of the other times when America came to the rescue of the citizens of other countries… From being the first to respond in the aftermath of natural disasters, like the earthquake in Haiti, the floods in Pakistan and Mozambique. And when the people of other nations are suffering beneath brutal leaders, like we did in WWI… WWII… Iran, Iraq… Afghanistan… we even send our soldiers who risk their own lives in an effort see that they are spared… Not only did we come to their rescue them from the deadly regimes of psychotic, tyrannical dictators, we stayed after to help build schools and hospitals, to dig wells and construct irrigation pipelines to brings clean water to homes and to restore and improve access to electricity in areas where it had previously never existed. We also stay to train their own soldiers, their own police… teaching them how to nurture and maintain the seeds of freedom we planted there. Their streets are safer. They no longer live with the daily fear of Saddam and his psychopath sons. Businesses are reopening and new ones are springing up. They use cell phones and the internet freely without fear of imprisonment, torture and death… They, even women… vote.

I have never understood why the liberals have such an intense hate and animosity toward a Country with such good people doing so much when the citizens of other countries are in need. More specifically, I can’t for the life of me comprehend why our very own President feels the need to repeatedly apologize to the rest of the world for our accomplishments and (in fact) for our very existence. Yes, we’ve had some not so shiny moments. But, for the most part, we are a generous, loving, compassionate and courageous people. Our President even seems to think this land called “America” was off before we got here and would be a better place if we’d just pack up and leave. He seems to believe our presence has brought nothing of value to these United State or to any other part of the world for that matter. To liberals, we are a plague, we are nothing more that greedy barbarians who invade an conquer and plunder other lands and give absolutely nothing in return…

And the liberals aren’t the only ones griping. Even the ones we help complain… we didn’t come first fast enough… we didn’t do enough… We either didn’t stay long enough or we stayed way too long. We just can’t win sometimes.

When these liberal pea-brains and these ungrateful recipients of or money and rescue efforts start going off on another of their America slamming rants I always get so angry… And anger is such a waste of energy. So, rather than let it get to me, I think of this instead.

And then I feel much, much better.

Come on… You have to admit, it’s getting pretty funny over there on the left.

Let’s start with the farce called the “One Nation Working Together Debackle Rally”. Where the attendants of Glenn Beck’s rally were average citizens who paid and made their own way to Washington, the liberal gathering was full of purple-shirted security thugs members of SEIU and gaggles of Communists and Socialists and other union workers who were TOLD they HAD to attend and bus loads of others who were paid to add to the body count.

And we all know how well that worked out…

Check out this little clip of the bright-eyed enthusiasts (Students from the Key Club at the High School for Mathematics, Science and Engineering at City College) who were interviewd after the rally. As one young man lets the proverbial cat out of the bag and reveals (a story corraborated by others in the group), that the only reason they came was to receive SSL (Student Service Learning) Hours (reqired by some state governments in order for students to graduate) one quick thinking young lady (clutching her rolled up purple evidence poster) quickly intergects that they also came because they were “interested”… (although she did not specify anything what she was “interested in, besides those extra SSL Hours, or whether she would have been “interested” enough to go had those “SSL Hours” not neen offered as incentive). Pay particular attention to the purple-shirted SEIU membrs who begin hovering nervously in the background…

You just can’t make his stuff up.

 But I thin I am catching on. I mean, it’s all starting to make sense really.

For The One, who uses the advice of George Cloony for such things as  “presentation, public speaking and body language” (not to mention, Mid-East foreign policy) it is not a far stretch to suppose The One is also drawing from the staging experience of his many Hollywood pals to create, in the grand style of Cecil B. Demille, those uber-impressive ”crowd scenes” which the liberal media loves to show us whenever their favorite “Rock Star” makes an appearance.

In a time before computer-generated imagery, the “cast of thousands” in DeMille films like The Ten Commandments required literally tens of thousands of people, and a master like DeMille issuing the instructions.

Back in 2008 when Obama was running for President, his casting directors honed the art of drawing large crowds to give the illusion that these people came to see Obama. It’s called “The Free Concert”. They did it in Berlin… (failing to mention the appearance of TWO popular German bands, reggae artist Patrice and rock band Reamonn) and in Oregon… (where thy failed to mention the appearance of a rare, 45-minute free concert by The Decemberists) and in Philadelphia… (where they failed to mention Bruce Springsteen), yet afterward, the liberal meda flooded our newpapers and TV screens with impressive images like this…

… intentionally giving the world the false impression that these masses were dawn (as if prompted like some spontaneous grass-roots pilgrimage) to a specific location of (sometimes) great distance, for the sole purpose of being in the presence of Barack Obama and to hear him read his teleprompter speak.

Well, they are at it again. They did it in Wisconsin… (failing to mention the free pre-concert by Ben Harper) and most recently, the 2010 reduex of the “free concert” crowd in Philadelphia, (although they did have to settle for the hip-hop group, The Roots, rather than Bruce Sringsteen) after which the loyal liberal media, like The New York Times, documented the event with photos like this…

Yep… someone in the audience literally ”threw the book” at Barack Obama’s head in Philadelphia. Of course, when someone threw a shoe at George Bush the liberal media used that clip for their daily visual masturbations…  but they don’t seem to get the same jollies when Obama is the target.

Philadelphia was just the second of four large rallies planned, all designed to “recapture some of the big-stage excitement” that the free concerts Obama created in 2008 by offering MORE free concerts before the teleprompter readings stirring speeches he gives before thousands of “young and first-time voters”. One of them, 24-year-old Juan James Rodriguez even dusted off the crowd pleasing art of “streaking” for a promised $1 million dollar payment by billionare Alki David to the first person who streaks in front of President Barack Obama – providing they write the name of his website ‘Battlecam’ across their chest”, of course… only, I don’t think it was the sight of the website address on Juan’s chest that the lady in the red t-shirt was trying to avoid…

Well, I guess this was inevitable. I mean, we all know what happens when Obama believes all of this rubbish regarding his popularity… and he can actually draw those same free concert ”masses” with his own name alone. He has tried… Lord knows he has tried… And as the mid-term elections draw near, stories of Barack Obama’s embarrassing difficulties in filling even the smallest of venues is serving as some delicous fodder fo all of us over here on the right. From slashing ticket prices (only to still fail to fill a mere 650 seats) to sending out his peeps to BEG those ”young and first-time voters” on college campuses to PLEASE come watch Obama read his teleprompter again… he still falls sort of a full house and hands us gun-tote’n Bible clutchers yet another steaming platter of punch lines. He is being heckled by gay activists in New York… and in San Fancisco… by African Americans in Florida…. and by those all important young, first time voters in Maryland… At town halls and back-yard chit-chats from Iowa to Albuquerque, his own supporters are starting to ask… “Is this it?”

And now, The One and his many directors are literally sending out “casting calls” to “screen” and fill the wide screen with bodies who have the proper look and view to make Obama look good. He’s even dusting off the same old teleprompter tapes he used in 2008… I mean, seriously… I am laughing my butt off over here.

And then there was this priceless moment, one single, hilarious sight-gag, which not only revealed the future of the democrat party in November but served as an omen for Barack in 2012.
I tell you… the poor guy can’t catch a break these days.

Ahhh yes… Charlie Crist… My governor and Republican Independent candidate for the US Senate…

I watched the debate… First time I watched the news on “abc” since…. ah… Who cares?

Anyway…

What was most interesting was Crist’s opening statement, which he began with yet another explanation of “why” he chose to screw abandon the Republican party and run as an Independent… I guess he still feels the voters of Floida haven’t quite forgotten a statement made by his campaign manager Eric Eikenberg, precisely three weeks prior to the announcement:

“To put these rumors to rest once and for all, as we have said countless times before, Gov. Crist is running for the United States Senate as a Republican. He will not run as an Independent or as a No Party Affiliation.”

Never mind that, on the day of his announcement, Crist explained his defection by borrowing from his pal Obama’s arsenal of “It’s not about me” lines, insisting it was the love and concern for his fellow Floridians that motivated the decision… and not the fact that (in spite of his current insistance that polls don’t mean much to him) his own personal polling showed that (as a Republican) Marco Rubio was going to kick his butt at the voting booth.

“My decision to run for the U.S. Senate as a candidate without party affiliation in many ways says more about our nation and our state than it does about me.”

Back then Crist gave us the obligatory “the system/Washington is broken” meme as his reason for turning traitor switching parties. But now he reveals it’s really because he wants to go to Washington so he can crash the Tea Party, (which has propelled his “poster boy” nemisis, Marco Rubio to double digit leads in all of those polls he doesn’t much care about).

 ”Abraham Lincoln once said that the government should be by the people, of the people and for the people - I believe that’s true – not of the party, by the party and for the party. That’s why I run as an Indepenent. It is abundantly clear to me that there is an extreme right faction in the Republican party and I think I’m the only candidate who can win in November and crash that Tea Party in Washington.”

“… an extreme right faction”… “of the Republican party”…………..?

That’s odd… I mean… you ARE aware, Mr. Crist, that (aside from the fact that the Tea Party is comprised of Republicans, Independents and Democrats), polling (which I know you hate) consistantly shows that a growing majority of ”The People” support the sentiments and objectives the Tea Party represents… you know, “The People” you claim you are fighting for… “The People” you just said the goverment should be ”by”, “of” and “for”?…….. unless, of course, ”The People” are rejecing you… at which time they must be destroyed… right?

Yeah… that approach will work… that’s the way to turn this drubbing around… threaten “The People” who outnumber your dwindling supporters… fire that warning shot across their bow like you pitched that baseball hard and fast across home plate…

… yeah… THAT’LL scare ‘em.

Although I live in Florida now, I lived in Royal Oak, Michigan for 20 years… and while I have been caught cheering for the Tampa Bay Lightning now and then I will always have a special place in my heart for the Detroit Red Wings. You see… outside of providing me with some (predominantly depressing) seasonal entertainment for two decades, they taught me something very unexpected… something valuable… a lesson with such profound impact it has left me forever changed.

I have been paying attention to something lately, something I didn’t quite see as important before. But “it” is starting to grow some legs and, after crawling around on the floor for a bit it is standing up, gaining its balance and threatening to get strong enough to start running…

Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, my precious fellow Americans, I come before you today to swing a big stick and to knock “it” flat on its…

When I first moved to the Detroit area I was quickly inducted into the ranks of “Rabid Red Wings Fans”. Only, back then, they were known as The Dead Wings, mostly because they sucked. They were disorganized, apathetic and filled with a bunch of primadonnas whose collective desires to be The Star in each game prevented them from seeing each other on the ice. So… they lost…. for over 40 years… 

The organization who brought the likes of Gordy Howe, Sid Able and Ted Lindsay to the world had become an embarrassment to the citizens of Hockey Town and the laughing stock of the entire NHL. Oh, they would do good now and then… even make it to the playoffs a few times… only to choke… again…. and again… and then God said…

“Let there be Scotty Bowman… “

 ”… and God saw that Scotty Bowman was good.”

Scotty Bowman holds the record for most wins in league history, with 1,244 wins in the regular season and 223 in the playoffs and an unrivaled 9 Stanley Cup victories AND  is the only head coach in the history of the NHL, Major League Baseball, the National Football League, or the National Basketball Association who has won championships with three different teams…. But even so, back when he was named coach of the Detroit Red Wings (’93-’94 season)… the “team” wasn’t too thrilled. You see, Scotty didn’t care who “they” thought “they” were.

Now, “Googling” this might not turn up much. I didn’t even bother checking myself. I was there. I don’t need Google to verify or prove what I experienced and saw for myself… Scotty rocked the Red Wing boat. He threw away the “business as usual” strategies that had lead them to over 40 years of loss, traded big name players, stripped the remaining primadonnas of their respective crowns… He made them focus on DEFENSE. Keep the puck out of the net and take your shots when they come. DEFENSE! They resisted him… they faught him… they hated him… and they kept getting beaten… they kept losing… Then one day, after yet another humiliating loss… the (then) young Team Captian, Steve Yzerman, went into the locker room and called his charges to a meeting. Although I am not convinced he himself yet “believed”, he offered a suggestion… Let’s give it a try. Clearly, “their” way was not working and he suggested that they give HIS ideas a try and THEN decide who was right or wrong… That was around 1996… In the 1996-1997 season, The Detroit Red Wings won their first Stanley Cup in 42 years.

I will never forget that night. I wasn’t fortunate enough to be IN “The Joe” that night… but I was down town… at a bar called The Post, located at the intersection of Cass and Congress… walking distance from the Arena… “Our” slogan back then…? “I Want Stanley”…. and we GOT Stanley that night. The town came unglued, and in spite of world-wide speculation that the night would end in massive riots, there were fewer incidents of crime that night than on a typical Saturday night. We were too damn happy. Even people who hadn’t paid attention to hockey their entire lives were joining in the celebration. There was a scream of joy that spilled out into the streets and went up that night as truly empowered… energized… deafening… Six days later, on June 13, 1997, the celebration came to a sudden and utterly horrific hault when a drunken limo driver plowed into a tree on Woodward Avenue with passengers, Vladimir Konstantinov, fellow defenseman Slava Fetisov and Red Wings’ masseur Sergei Mnatsakanov, inside. Slava suffered only minor (physical) injuries. Sergei was hurt badly… and Konstantinov…? The career of the Stanley Cup Champion player who had been named the Most Valuable Defenseman in the entire NHL, was gone in an instant.

Fast forward to the 1997-1998 NHL Season.

After the devastation of the accident, fans were melancholy… depressed. A moment of joy (after 42 years of waiting) had been stripped away so suddenly we never had a chance to enjoy it… 6 days… It was never the same after the accident. So, as we entered the next season there was a noteable absence of enthusiasm. I mean, come on. Under normal circumstances, winning back-to-back Stanly Cups is nearly impossible. Regular season starts in October and if you make the playoffs it can stretch out until freaking JUNE!… To go back into the race 4 months later… having suffered such a devastating blow like that…? Few had any faith… or interest… and it was making me SO mad.

So, the season went on and, against the lethargic faith of their fans, Stevie Y and his team were winning. As each game and each week and month passed, The Red Wings were unstoppable… and as the playoffs neared… the fans began to awaken… some began to say, hey… after such a physically greuling season and the emotionally crippling loss and the incredible odds against them to do it again… How can this be? Can they really make the playoffs…. again?

Those questions upset me and after a while, they even began to make me mad. To me it was obvious. Stevie and the rest of the team even TOLD their fans “why” and “how”… but they just weren’t listening… Too worried by 42 years of “Dead Wing” history and still mourning the loss of Vladdy to pay attention I guess.

While watching the final round of the 1997-1998 playoffs, I remained happy, faithful… I “saw” it… And by “saw it”, I mean I had a dream. It was the strangest, most unforgettable dream I had ever had in my life. I dreamed I was in Joe Louis Arena… It was dark… silent… and I was floating just a few inches over the ice. As I drifted, I could see the cuts of skate blades gouged into the surface… I could feel the cold against my face… and then I felt that tickle in my stomach as I began lifting upward… higher and higher… into the rafters… and as the lights began to come up I began to see the fans… dressed (oddly) in their red “away sweaters” (not the white “HOME sweaters” I expected to see)… and (although there was still no sound) they were cheering. It was all in slow motion… and my mental vision shifted to a room off the ice where I saw white gloved hands giving the Stanley Cup one last polish… And I saw th scoreboard… 3-1… And then I saw the Cup in Stevie’s hands… being hoisted over his head… and then I saw the wheels of a chair rolling slowly… followed by many skates… From that moment, I knew…

Oh… and the slogan for the Red Wings that year……………………………….?

 The answer of “how” was right there all along. Stevie Y, the whole team… they kept saying it over and over again. “We are playing for Vladdy”, “We are playing for VLADDY.” And, after my strange dream, for the first time I understood the real meaning of the team slogan for that year… “Believe”… much to the “syni” and “criti”-cisms of my fellow “fans”. I DID “Believe”…. In fact, I believed SO much I put my “money where my mouth was” and placed bets with a lot of pools… I even went into the bigger paying pools by specifying the end score… “3-1″… at which point, bet takers would look at me like I was a “girly-sports idiot” and say… “Three to One is a high scoring game, especially for a playoff game… You do realize this is hockey, don’t you…?” I would smile each time and say “Yes, I know… but I am confident in my bet.”……………. When they’d ask “WHY,” I was so confident I would give them my best “girly-sports idiot,” smile and say… “I aready saw the game.”

 It was right there all along… “We are playing for VLADDY!”

So…. “What do Tea Party Americans and the Detroit Red Wings have in common?”

Ironically, that year, guess who the Red Wing faced in the final playoff game…? The Washington Capitals. Who are the ones the Tea Party Team are facing off with in these elections?…. The people in the Capital of Washington.

Now, while the people in the Capital of Washington (like the Washington Capitals) are playing for the political “Stanley Cup”… We The People are playing for something else… And we have a new “coach” on board to teach our “players” in Washington what it takes to win the game… Of course, like the Red Wings when Scotty showed up… our representatives aren’t very fond of the Tea Party. We are seen as a threat… They are worried that their primadonna status will be stripped away… But the “Tea Party Coach” KNOWS how to play the game better than ANYone else. We The People KNOW what it takes to WIN… WE are not playing for a “symbol” of victory. We are not playing for bragging rights or accolades… We are not PLAYING. We are FIGHTING. We are SERIOUS. We… BELIEVE. We are fighting for something we love… something we “Believe” in… our Country… our Freedom. Like the Red Wings in ’97-’98, we are NOT playing for a “trophy”… a 35 pound tower of sterling silver… We are not playing for self-glory or to have our personal names engraved forever into history… We are playing for people we love. We are playing for our children… for our families… for our neighbors. Even if they DON’T believe in what we are fighting for, we are playing for them all… and, in spite of our past losses, in spite of our past doubts and embarrassments.. we will win because no matter how skilled you are at playing games… the REAL test is faith in what you are playing FOR.

So let them play their games.. let them rig their polls and LET them fake their IDs and voter registrations… Let them slash… let them beat us with high sticks and let them grind us into the boards. Yes, we are weary… yes we have been embarrassed and YES we have suffered loss… But it’s playoff time again… and we “Believe”. Do not let “them” distract you. Do not let “them” take you off your game.  Guard “the net”… DEFENSE… protect what you hold dear, play for the ones you love…

While some play for trophies, for personal recognition or self-glory… others focus upon and fight with everything they have for something or someONE they love and truly believe in…. and in the end, when it comes to “winning”… you will NEVER stop motivation of that latter level.

In an effort to help you (and myself) to avoid confusion when listening to reports of things we use to think we almost understood, I have comprised a list of a few of the many evolving terms and word definitions… which may or may not apply by the time I finish this post.

Democrats no longer want to be called “Liberals” because that word has taken on a connotation that “describes big government”. They now ”prefer the word “Progressive” , which “has a real American meaning”, as they continue to push the same “big government” agenda they were pushing when they called themselves “Liberals”.

“Pork”… “Earmarks” are now called “Local Projects”

Pro-Abortion is called “Pro-Choice”… unless your “choice” is “life”, in which case you are NOT “Pro-Choice”.

“Abortion” – Those who are Pro-Abortion Choice prefer to use the word “Procedure”

“Baby” or “Fetus“ must be called a ”Conglomeration of Cells” to avoid accusations of murdering a “Baby” or “Fetus” (otherewise known as an “unborn child“).

“Foreign Inteligence Surveilance Act” is now to be described as a ”Domestic Spying Program“, (which, I guess, means we should call it, DISA… or simply the DSP)

“War on Terror” – “this administration prefers to avoid using the term ‘Long War’ or ‘Global War on Terror’. Please use ‘Overseas Contingency Operation.’

Health CARE Reform is now called Health INSURANCE Reform.

“Terrorist”, Islamist”… It is no longer acceptable to use these terms, especially together. Policymakers are now urged to use vague terms such as “violent extremists,” “totalitarian,” and “death cult” to characterize al Qaeda and other terrorist groups.

“Acts of Terrorism” are now called “Man-Caused Disasters“, although the British Sociological Association does suggest avoiding the word “man” all together as it may still be seen as ”sexist language” and taking political correctness even further to describe the two planes crashing into the World Trade Center as a “synthetic disaster” — or better yet, an “artificial occurrence.”

“Enemy Combatants” are now given the more ambiguous title of, ”Detainees”

“9-11″ - What was formerly seen as a Day of Reflection and Remembrance, Obama signed into Law a measure to force Americans see the day when nearly 3,000 Americans were murdered instead as a “National Day of Service”

“Gulf Oil Spill”… could be “BP Oil Spill Disaster”… or the “BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill“… but never “Obama’s Katrina”

“Illegal Aliens” are to be referred to by the less offensive term, “undocumented worker” or by the even more friendly terms “Undocumented American“…or  ”Displaced Foreign Traveler”

“Stimulus” -  The president has,  ”no problem with people saying, ‘The president is trying to stimulate growth and hiring.”… but prefers we do not use the word “stimulus”.

“Combat Troops” in, and being deployed to, Iraq have just been renamed, while the Obama adminsitration prefers to use the word, ”removed”.

Extension of “Bush’s Tax Cuts” will be called the Obama tax cuts for the middle class.”

The Government will not spend, but rather  “Invest” your money.

The word “Tax” is replaced by words like “Fee”

“Patriotic” – Once meaning, pa·tri·ot·ic- adj. Feeling, expressing, or inspired by love for one’s country, is now defined simply as one who, “pays taxes” imposed by the government against their will.

“Global Warming” was changed to “climate change“. However, now the White House wants the public to start using the term “global climate disruption”

FL GOP holds back audit, may sue Crist, Greer

The Republican Party of Florida decided today not to release a long-awaited audit of its spending under ousted chairman Jim Greer, while his successor accused Gov. Charlie Crist of using party money on “inappropriate expenses” and threatened to sue.

Chairman John Thrasher said the party would decide in the next 7-10 days whether to sue Crist, Greer and former executive director Delmar Johnson to recoup ”hundreds of thousands of dollars.”

September 12th, the Orlando Sentinel:

GOP: Audit links Charlie Crist to state party’s financial scandal

State Republicans moved the three-way U.S. Senate race to a new level Saturday, with party leaders pointing to an audit of their books they say implies Gov. Charlie Crist — now an independent candidate for U.S. Senate — ran up potentially “hundreds of thousands” of dollars in inappropriate charges.

Fla. GOP implicates Crist in finance scandal

The Orlando Sentinel reports that the Florida Republican Party claims its internal audit found that Gov. Charlie Crist ran up possibly “hundreds of thousands of dollars” worth of inappropriate charges in connection with the state party’s spending scandal.

The Huffington Post has picked up the story too.

*** sigh ***… Good times.

Someone should have warned Charlie about what happens to the shadows of local,  political ambitions when hit by the searing spotlight of National Exposure.
